  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 26, 2013 -> 01:04 PM) Am I getting this right? With the wild-card teams, couldn't a MidWest team technically win the Pacific divisional playoffs? Doesn't that ruin the point of having divisional playoff rounds? QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 26, 2013 -> 01:18 PM) That's stupid. I'm fine with it. If the 5th seed in one division better than the 4th seed in the other division, I guess it's reasonable to take their spot. AHL used to do this when their was an imbalance in # of teams. Edit: I guess you could have the division winner in Division A playing the 4 seed in Division B, and then Division B Winner playing the Division B 5 seed. That part does seem odd. Just let the 5 take the 4 in the other division.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 26, 2013 -> 10:07 AM) Krush is a jersey bigot Wear a jersey that actually exists, not too hard.
  3. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Feb 25, 2013 -> 11:50 PM) Lol that jersey is 160 not what I'd call cheap. Right now I just have a jersey shirt from the winter classic and was wanting something better. I don't care if it costs $500, the point is the jersey is ridiculous. If you get a real one, don't get the knockoffs. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 26, 2013 -> 08:09 AM) You have three options to choose from in the, hands down, best jersey set of any professional sports team. There is no need to select something other than what you see below. Choose wisely. Quick aside. I am STILL annoyed that the NHL switched to colors at home. I still think of the white jersey as the home sweater. Me too, grew up with the whites. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 26, 2013 -> 09:07 AM) They aren't really throwbacks - the logo is an homage to the jerseys of the 30s and 40s... But it was a straight-up new design for the Winter Classic in Wrigley Obviously, the design was so f***ing gorgeous they kept it on (sans patch) as the new third jersey, replacing the rarely seen black alternate... And yes, I'd hope we see those Winter Classic alternates, and I'm sure we will. I'm glad the Hawks don't bust them out all the time - save them for a national game on NBC when you're not in a 19-game undefeated in regulation streak. I thought the Hawks permanently stopped using an alternate/3rd jersey starting last year - maybe once in a while it will show up, but I'm pretty sure it's done - at least the Winter Classic style one. And the classic jersey, just in black, hasn't been around in years. I'm pretty sure they didn't wear anything other than the classics last year, and certainly haven't this year. I wish they'd just break out the barber poles once in a while if they are going to use a 3rd, but I fear they'll make a completely new (and maybe bad) style just to sell more to the masses.
  4. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 25, 2013 -> 07:40 PM) Wouldn't be surprised if Illinois is better than a 7 but that's not an awful guess at this point. I can't see a 6 or better at this point, I would think 7 is the best but we'll see. That'd be a win at Iowa, and either OSU or upset win in the BTT. I'd love a 7 to stay off the 8/9 line, though we'd be the team a 1 would absolutely not want to see matched up with them. Most 8/9's haven't knocked off top teams like that already. We could easily get killed if we make it to that game, but a 1 is rooting for any other teams in their region if we're looking at an 8/9 when that time comes around.
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 25, 2013 -> 10:10 PM) This isn't real life. I think it ends in St. Louis, but yes this is ridiculous. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Feb 25, 2013 -> 10:21 PM) Has anyone bought the double black jerseys, do they look good in person? http://shop.nhl.com/product/index.jsp?prod...dy_bestsell_txt No no no no no no no no no no no no no no x100 more. Don't be that guy. Just buy a real jersey that is actually used. And not a cheap $40 knockoff that looks like s***, don't be that guy either.
  6. With Emery talking about Te'o, there's probably no way they actually take him. Not worried.
  7. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Feb 25, 2013 -> 03:19 PM) Any thoughts on the proposed conference re-alignment? How should the playoffs work? QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 25, 2013 -> 03:20 PM) It really sucks for the Hawks to lose Detroit. That is one of the best rivalries out there. It does suck to lose Detroit...pretty irritating. Only "rivalry" in the conference/division/whatever the f*** they are calling it, is St. Louis. Overall the realignment does make sense on many levels, and moving Columbus over, just not favorable from that rivalry perspective. Not exactly sure how playoffs will work, but may still go with the top 4 in each conference. Old school style. So the Hawks will have some matchups against the North Stars, Leafs, etc. Dino sucks. And again nothing clear on this, but if they stick to some of what they had proposed earlier, it won't always be "west" vs "west", but on a rotating system or re-seeding system. So you could have the Penguins playing the Flyers in the Cup Final, etc. I'm totally fine with that, I don't always need to have a west/east. That's just me though. West will have 7 team divisions, east 8. So they are throwing out a possible wildcard round of 5 vs 4 in each east conference first, which could just be one game. You still see each team every year with a home and home, which is solid and necessary. Of course, this whole thing will be f***ed up if/when the NHL expands and both franchises end up in the eastern time zone.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 24, 2013 -> 07:40 PM) The Hawks haven't looked supersharp so far, at times they have been pretty outplayed. Crawford has had some luck to not have given up at least two goals so far, yet somehow the Hawks have the lead. Yeah, Columbus had 3 absolutely golden opportunities that somehow didn't go in. Really odd shutout, but I'll take it.
  9. QUOTE (Tex @ Feb 24, 2013 -> 01:37 PM) While it is easy to dismiss the difference in attendance to "Cub fans are stupid", there is more at play here. Why do casual fans, fans without a real vested interest in either team, prefer to watch a game on the north side instead of the south side? It takes a really good Sox team to draw them in. One factor I believe causes this is the Cubs do a better job of welcoming the casual fans. When they here that Sox fans are more knowledgeable about baseball, they know where they fit. When they hear Sox fans complain about "band wagon jumpers", they know where they fit. And, while we know it isn't true, there is the whole safety of the north side versus lawlessness on the south side. The attendance battle isn't grabbing the regular fan, the attendance battle is for the family that goes to one or two games a year. They have no idea whose in first. They may know a player or two, but they just want to have a fun family outing. Clearly, they, and salespeople entertaining clients, prefer Wrigley. Location and ballpark, that's it. It's really easy. It's not about welcoming casual fans by either organization.
  10. The "blind resumes" of Illinois and Kentucky comparison made no sense. Today was a game where if we won, holy crap, if we lose, not a big deal at this point. Haven't had one of those in a while. Go beat Nebraska, try to grab one from Iowa on the road, finish out against Ohio St and grab the first win in the BTT and see what seed that gets us.
  11. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 22, 2013 -> 10:10 PM) I think it's safe to say the Hawks will never lose again in regulation. I'M GONNA KICK YOUR ASS IF THEY LOSE IN REGULATION
  12. QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Feb 23, 2013 -> 11:56 AM) DFA'd for Gillaspie. Damn it...anyone want an authentic Anderson jersey?
  13. QUOTE (farmteam @ Feb 22, 2013 -> 05:38 PM) Wait, whose spot is Carcillo taking? Whoever it is I don't like it. Bollig/Mayers combo. Leaving Saad up top, Carcillo will play with Kruger and Frolik.
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 22, 2013 -> 12:34 PM) Hossa, Seabrook, & Carcillo all back tonight. Karlsson sent back to Rockford, so Crawford is backing up Emery. That's great, but when does Kim Johnsson come back?
  15. Magazines in the oven...that's just awesome.
  16. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Feb 21, 2013 -> 01:16 PM) I forget the name of it when I was there in the spring but I went to a bar in downtown Denver that literally had 150+ beers on tap I have to make sure to find this place
  17. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 21, 2013 -> 04:05 PM) The number that scares me is 0-13. You know they're going to pull one out at some point. Yeah, March 7th at Northwestern.
  18. Plus the red line isn't closing, it's just running on the green line tracks. Big difference.
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 21, 2013 -> 02:36 PM) 4-6 in the last 10 games vs. Penn St., but Talor Battle & Bruce Weber are long gone, so the odds are in the Illini's favor tonight. For once I actually feel really confident playing Penn St. Uh oh.
  20. Yeah, I've gone to plenty of Sox and Hawks games by myself through the years. I don't mind it at all. In fact, if I can't find a good/knowledgeable friend to with, I prefer to go by myself instead of just throwing anyone in the seat next to me.
  21. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 21, 2013 -> 08:01 AM) I demand another Flyers-Penguins playoff series this year, even wilder than the Hawks/Cancuks rivalry. Agreed. Love those games.
  22. Thoughts on Denver for a weekend getaway trip? Good/bad? Things to do/places to go?
  23. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 20, 2013 -> 10:35 PM) Annnnd double ot Exciting, but it's been ugly.
