QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Mar 9, 2013 -> 06:12 PM) Am i correct that Illinois is playing for a 7 or 8 seed in the BTT tomorrow? It appears Iowa has the 6 seed locked up and Minny the 9 seed after today's games. That is if I understood the tiebreakers right. Here is what I've got so far... 1. Indiana 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Iowa 7. Purdue or Illinois 8. Illinois or Purdue 9. Minnesota 10. Nebraska 11. Northwestern 12. Penn State 2-5 still have too many possibilities. For example, Michigan could be a 2, 3, 4 or 5 seed depending on what happens Sunday. Yes. Win and it's 7 vs Nebraska, lose and it's 8 vs Minnesota. -

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Mar 9, 2013 -> 07:17 AM) Now the rest of the season is a formality. Seedings and records mean nothing for the playoffs. Roll the four lines rest the stars and be prepared for the playoffs. Hockey regular season is a step above mlb spring training in determining how the playoffs will flush out. It was exciting but means nothing if bounced in round one. they don't win the Stanley Cup. Records don't mean anything but you definitely want the 1 seed. Anything can happen in the playoffs, but you still want the home ice for game 7's and the "easier" path. Seed does matter. Corrected the second paragraph. -

Hawks suck, this team is a joke. They'll be lucky to make the playoffs. -
It's pretty clear the Bulls are done playing games here and this puts the pressure on him. Not only is he cleared to play, more importantly doctors are saying he NEEDS to play to get back to full-strength at some point. It's the only thing that's missing from the rehab. It's the next step. So...get out there. In theory, if DRose says he's not coming back until he feels like THE DRose again, he'll never actually suit up in an NBA game again.

QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 8, 2013 -> 09:04 AM) I may have a crisis coming, guys. I am not far from applying to graduate schools, and I will probably apply to Iowa, UW, IU, Michigan, and Northwestern in the B1G. If I go to one of these schools, do I change allegiances? Do I change if I go to a non-B1G school? I don't see how going to grad school would change an allegiance, whether in or out of the big ten. Most of the people I know that went to grad school don't really care about the teams there. -

QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Mar 8, 2013 -> 06:33 AM) MSU did the exact same thing last year. The EXACT same thing. Not a peep from anyone. I do remember people talking about it last year, however it's not the same anyway, which is why it didn't get as much media attention. That was the LAST game of the season. IU still has a chance to win the BT outright. Had the Michigan game this weekend been at home and they lost, I wouldn't have a problem with any of it because the season's over, and they will won the BT, even if shared. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 7, 2013 -> 07:09 PM) It's Indiana. On this board it means anything to do with them will be seen through Orange colored classes instead of with any kind of objectivity. That's what you want to think is happening, but you're wrong yet again. There's plenty of people who think it was stupid, hell even one of the IU guys on here. Guess he must not be objective either. I could easily turn that around and say that the IU fans aren't being objective because it's their team. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 7, 2013 -> 06:01 PM) If it was anyone else than IU, no one would even be talking about it in the first place. Bulls***. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 7, 2013 -> 06:12 PM) I;m just saying, they cant act like they've been there before because they really havent, or even lived through it. Its like a new beginning and they needed to hang their hats on that success. The fans didn't run in there and cut down the nets. IU as a whole decided to do it. Let's not pretend this is the Hickory HS team finally making it big or something, which seems like what Crean would want people to believe. All it takes in college basketball is a few big recruits. They got them, and they are winning. This isn't complicated. It's not a bunch of walk-ons winning the BT all of the sudden. I have no problem celebrating a BT title as that's a huge accomplishment regardless of recent seasons (though you'd think they'd want to wait to celebrate it outright if they can do it), but doing it after blowing winning it outright and a loss is dumb. -

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Mar 6, 2013 -> 11:19 PM) It's been a tradition since the 70's. Jim Crews brought it to Evansville, so I am familiar with it. Basically, the players have the mic without a time limit. Some talk awhile, some make jokes, some get real emotional. Heard there have been a few marriage proposals. As far as the nets being cut down and celebrating the title, I'm okay with it. From a distance its kinda weird, but the rationale was this year was special because of the journey it has taken to get there and this team will be considered special in IU history, regardless of how the season ends. They wanted to do it in front of fans. I'm sure everybody wishes they would have done it after a win. But how is it really different from a baseball team celebrating a division championship after a loss when the other team in contention lost also? Don't see it everyday, but to me, I say let them have their moment and its not time to take care of business and keep your eyes on the bigger prize. You're IU, act like you've been there before. If they lose early, actually any earlier than the FF, I'm pretty sure most IU fans aren't looking back favorably on the 2012-2013 Hoosiers. -

QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 6, 2013 -> 05:34 PM) Turn it into a pep rally send off before the Big Ten Tournament or NCAA Tournament. The IU fans in town will go. This was just stupid on their part. Agreed. Could have set that up for a different time instead of making a dumb decision. -

QUOTE (farmteam @ Mar 6, 2013 -> 04:30 PM) I'm given to understand IU generally does more (including longer speeches, hah) for Senior Night than most schools anyway. As for crying, I've seen some players tear up. I haven't been able to watch the speeches yet so I can't comment on these ones specifically. That said, I couldn't care less if Hulls sobbed his way through his entire speech. The speech was for Indiana and its fans, no one else. It's gotta be even more emotional for these seniors since they entered at absolute rock bottom and have a chance to leave as high atop the mountain as you can get. Not a fan of cutting down the nets, though. Makes it seem like you've already achieved something (which I guess we have, but still) when there's so much more to earn. I could care less about the speeches, long, short, good or bad. But yeah, cutting down nets, wearing championship hats, and getting the trophy after that? That's silly. Two things come to mind. 1. IU had no backup plan in case of a loss and 2. They've forgotten what winning is like so much that they forced themselves to go through with it because they want to celebrate anything and everything. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 5, 2013 -> 06:25 PM) Can we fire every ref in college basketball since they don't understand what a charge is? Abrams just got called for a charge where he was already in the air when the Iowa player slid over. I am 100% sure I can do a better job than these hacks simply because I would basically never call a charge. OMG LOOK ILLINI FANS COMPLAINING ABOUT THE REFS!!!! That was a laughable call. It's one things if fans complain about the block charge all the time, but even Jay Bilas says they get it wrong almost all the time. Something really needs to change. -

Win tonight at Iowa, worst we'll have is the 7 seed in BTT. Can get 6 but I think Minnesota will grab it by winning the final 2. Lose and it's the 8/9 game. Iowa's favored by 3.5. It's really good to not have to win this game in regards to making the dance. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 5, 2013 -> 02:45 PM) Gotta pay the men if you want to keep them. With that said, Purdue lost their OL coach to MSU a week ago as well. It's not that. We just got him, he wasn't here last year. Something bad happened - either he just took it because it was the best available and waited to jump, or he saw enough in a few weeks to say "I need out." -

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 5, 2013 -> 11:20 AM) Actually, yes. You see, it's your exact mentality that's wrong. You laugh at what I said, honestly and seriously, makes you and people like you the exact problem our children face. Keep making excuses in the future. When that Chinese kid that WENT to school has your kids job, look back at the plethora of missed days they had over the years and keep on laughing. I sincerely weep for the future created and enabled by people like yourself. This is epic. You are a better adult for not having a snow day as a 2nd grader. Wow. You realize they make the day up? They don't just cancel them? One snow day is making America worthless! That's the problem!
