  1. Um, guys? When there's 30 seconds left and you're down 3 with no shot clock going, you need to foul...or at least do something besides watch them dribble.
  2. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 14, 2013 -> 04:08 PM) I honestly saw nothing wrong with that poster until the reference was made. It's a pretty great pic of father and son, you gotta be pretty sick/bored to come up with that reference and care about it. It's a really great photo. Problem is they tried to figure out a way to force it into a marketing email just to have it used somewhere. No, you don't have to be sick/bored to come up with that reference. It's fairly obvious. It was a poor choice.
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 14, 2013 -> 08:58 AM) I've played hockey my entire life. Cooke went towards the boards awkwardly and his skate came up, and he was simply putting it down to keep his balance. It was a freak injury, nothing more. Reputation or not, that was CLEARLY a complete accident and not something any hockey player intentionally does - you are helpless when your feet are off the ice. Agreed. I know it's Cooke, but I've watched the play numerous times and can't see any intent there. He was off balance going into the boards tied up with him, and putting his skate back down towards the ice. This looks like a freak, unfortunate injury. Here it is in normal speed, with a replay at the end with the better angle:
  4. So Duke fans want to storm the court after beating an unranked team at home and Coach K tells them to stop? C'mon Coach K, don't be such a court storming elitist! Let them have fun!
  5. Erik Karlsson had his Achilles cut by Matt Cooke's skate and is done for the year. That was not fun to watch.
  6. QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 13, 2013 -> 10:31 PM) Just got back from the game. Nice easy win. Griffey and Paul couldn't shoot for s***, but Griffey had some nice hustle points. Abrams and D.J. played great. Paul was dreadful. Just so bad. Let's take long 3's with 25 left on the shot clock, too.
  7. Let's stop arguing about the draft and talk about how Illinois is looking like they may break their 8 (yes, 8) game losing streak to Purdue.
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 13, 2013 -> 05:04 PM) Anaheim's style is that way in which they bait you to shoot from the point into their entire PK crowding in front of the net. They apply zero pressure to the blue line and let our D men who have horrible slappers take shots. That 4 on 3 was maddening. All they needed to do was pass across the blue paint just once and its game over. On a 4 on 3 it's impossible to prevent shots, you just try to limit them to the worst ones you can. You just play a pretty tight, rotating triangle and if they get a long shot to go in, so be it, make them beat you on that and hope it's not on a complete cross-ice pass. If it's circle to high slot or vice versa, it's not as bad. Every time it went down low, everyone collapsed. They did look to make that pass a few times, but it just wasn't there.
  9. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 13, 2013 -> 05:11 PM) Alvarez presented it differently, but thats why I said it was a rumor. All sorts of stuff about new conferences Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin being in the same division. Yeah, it's going to be east/west, just depends who joins the west with those 3, Minnesota, NW and Illinois - either IU, PU, or MSU. I guess there's also the chance NW could go east and have IU and PU join the west.
  10. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Feb 13, 2013 -> 11:04 AM) When was the last time the Chicago Blackhawks consistently had a decent, let alone dominant, power play? I've been a fan for nealy 40 years, seen solid teams and s***ty ones, but good or bad, it seems the PP has, at its BEST, been just about league average. Even when we won the damn Cup it was below. Last night's OT was beyond frustrating. Yes, the PP needs to improve, and last night's failure in OT was maddening. But to answer your question, 2 years ago it was 4th in the league.
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 12, 2013 -> 12:02 PM) My phone always gets left pocket to itself, or maybe with some lipstick. I'd be careful with that, phone could end up all red.
  12. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 11, 2013 -> 04:36 PM) In all seriousness, I'd like you to point to one moment this season where you thought "gee, if the Hawks were more physical there, they'd have been better off" - it's a myth. The game's a little bit different in the playoffs, and you know that as well. Goals are tougher to come by as teams play tougher in the defensive end and in the neutral zone. Guys are much more physical, finishing checks, etc. Hopefully it's different this year, but think of Kane in some of those playoff games the past couple years. I just think another grinder (not goon) in there could help out. I hope Roszival starts doing something on the back end to get playing time as I think a guy like that is needed - and is why he was acquired - we can't go in with all these little puck movers like Oduya and Leddy game in and game out in the playoffs.
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 11, 2013 -> 03:46 PM) The need to "be physical" was a myth last year. False. Had Crawford been more physical with the puck in OT, they would have advanced to the semis. But, I'd like to see another physical forward on this team somewhere in the mix. Having a couple physical/grind guys helps in the playoffs when goals are bit tougher to come by.
  14. For now, we're off the bubble. Weirdest season ever.
  15. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 10, 2013 -> 06:01 PM) Illinois down two. If you were watching this game with the score covered I think you would guess closer to 25. IF IT WASN'T FOR THE REFS WE'D BE UP 25
  16. Somehow win at Minnesota and we'll make the tournament almost without issue. Otherwise the season likely comes down to winning either at NW or at Iowa. Because I see 3 home wins and 3 guaranteed road losses (including Minnesota today) in the other 6.
  17. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Feb 10, 2013 -> 02:15 PM) No, Illinois fans just wrote the book on it and teach the seminars! Thanks for joining the thread today. It's tiresome at this point. Just because you say it 100 times doesn't make it true, or more than any other fan base. Everyone b****es about officiating.
  18. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 9, 2013 -> 11:06 PM) I'll forever be mad after the last Mizzou-Kansas game that we didn't storm the court. The players ran over and stopped the student section because they said it was a bigger "f*** you" to Kansas to not storm. I'm surprised we listened to them. #4 at home favored over #8. OMG WE BEAT KANSAS, SUCH A BETTER TEAM, WE'RE SO LUCKY, NO WAY WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THIS GAME, LET'S STORM. Smart players.
  19. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 9, 2013 -> 03:27 PM) Ha Everyone should rush the floor every game. It's fun. Bonus points for a strong "overrated" chant while doing so.
  20. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 9, 2013 -> 01:10 PM) I didn't get to see the game(hooray work) but you always always always foul in those situations. I will never understand why anyone disputes that. Yes, and there was only 2.4 on the clock on the inbound. No-brainer. You'll see the replay, there was plenty of opportunity to do so too.
  21. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 9, 2013 -> 12:57 PM) Don't disagree but just saying Brust makes that 1 out of 20. If he was in position to geta legit shot, I'd be more pissed they didn't foul. Tying the game from the free throw line is 0 out of 20. There was no reason to even let him have a shot, and that's what happens.
