QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 05:58 PM) I dont trust anyone on the internet until proven otherwise. Even posters on Soxtalk Ill try and research if they make statements to see if there is any reason to believe it. Steve and I are very different people. The comparison I use is that if we ran a bar, Steve would want a big neon sign and tons of advertising. If I ran a bar, I would want no sign, and I would want no advertising. I dont care about publicity or any of that. Im the exact opposite. Says the guy with a link to Flapship in his signature.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 05:44 PM) As soon as "real" news outlets follow http://www.spj.org/ethicscode.asp I will too. But Im not holding Steve, or anyone, to a higher standard than professionals in the same field. That is flat out nonsense. — Identify sources whenever feasible. The public is entitled to as much information as possible on sources' reliability. See bold for why sport's journalism is a joke. Was he not able to identify his source?

The reason he needs to be there tonight is because you never pass up an opportunity to watch Ty Lawson. But hey, way to jump to conclusions.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 05:30 PM) OMG Im driven by self interest. Cowley's source was Thibs quote, which was that Rose was UNLIKELY to play. Steve's source is someone else and is saying that he was told Rose would play. If you dont want that type of rumor, dont read it. Ive yet to see anyone make a credible argument why Steve shouldnt post information that he believes is credible. It would be one thing if Steve completely made this up, its another when he legitimately believes that he has information. Maybe he is wrong, maybe this kills the website. Oh well, nothing ventured nothing gained. Yeah, you are. ***** I think you missed my point. No one gives a f*** about Cowley saying he's not playing. Had Steve come out and said Rose isn't playing, no one would have cared, that's status quo right now. People have made plenty of credible arguments. Steve didn't exactly stand behind all this, he heard something through the grapevine and tried to make it much bigger than it was for website hits, figuring if he's right then he wins the lottery, if not, still got hits, for whatever that accomplishes.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 05:25 PM) Because the only reputable site, Rotoworld, has yet to declare who the Bulls active list is for tonight, and that includes updates on Taj and Hinrich. Add that to the fact that Steve was told that Rose was going to be playing tonight. Maybe hell be wrong, but he feels confident in his source and that is his call not mine. OMG I GOT IT, STEVE6564456 IS DERRICK ROSE

Only reason Soxbadger is posting so much is because he's involved with the site. BTW Badger, Cowley saying "not playing" doesn't stir the pot, and he's probably dealing with real sources.

Final Four predictions thread
IlliniKrush replied to Rowand44's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I usually do a bracket, but over the years it's become old, and most people are usually out of it by the 2nd weekend if it's a big pool. In addition to a normal pool, I now run an auction with 5-6 people. You purchase teams and get paid off based on how far they advance in the tournament. Everyone starts with the same amount of money to spend so it's all even and you have to spend wisely. -
Final Four predictions thread

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 03:09 PM) I have like 6 brackets. I have Wisconsin knocking them out in at least one. Wisconsin has been a lock to get to the sweet 16 the last few years but I think people always have them out right away. LOL. So no matter what happens, you can say "I HAD THAT!" -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 01:01 PM) I'm not going to say the direct connection, but a friend of mine has an uncle who is a big deal and has his own box who was told to make sure he was there on Monday. I ran with it. Still not proven wrong, btw. Um, he's sick. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 12:19 PM) Oh come on, disgusting is a little far. TMZ reported that Lil Wayne was dead. Journalists make s*** up every single day of the week, often for reputable publications. This is a fan blog that had sent out a tweet to 300 people. From that 25,000 people have read the article. If you are over the age of 10 and cant recognize that is not a legitimate source and that you should take it completely with a grain of salt, that is on you. Not to mention, 2 days ago I posted: I hate to say it, but Ill believe it when I see it. It can take up to 18 months after an ACL surgery for the knee to feel “normal” again. Thus, something could happen this weekend to further delay the return. Whenever Rose is ready to play, he will play, and Im quite fine with that. A day ago Zoom posted "The thoughts expressed in the commentary on this site are soley the beliefs of the author and do not represent the views of any other individuals or Flapship as a whole." That was a day ago. Its funny in a really terrible sad way. Sure people have to use judgment, but that doesn't make it OK to do. He clearly claimed he had a source, which he didn't. It hurts the credibility of the whole site, regardless of some tagline on the bottom of an article. It does indeed represent Flapship as a whole. If I'm following a blog/site and find out they are purposely posting bulls*** to try to stir the pot or get hits, I would stop following that blog.

Rios' WBC Game Winning HR is GREAT for the Sox
IlliniKrush replied to CyAcosta41's topic in Pale Hose Talk
One HR in a WBC game will have zero affect on the Sox season, unless Rios hurt himself during the swing or home run trot. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 10:27 AM) Its downright disgraceful. Disgusting. Its one thing to be wrong with info its another to flat out lie. Its crap like that which causes people to give good blogs and websites with good and real sources a hard time/crap when they are wrong. Agreed. Sorry Steve, I don't see what the point of all this was.

Based on Rowand44's track record of falling in love with teams, I'd be willing to bet almost anything Gonzaga doesn't make it to the final four, and I suggest everyone reading this do the same.

Hopefully Iowa doesn't play only HS teams in the non conf next year...

See you in the elite 8

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Mar 17, 2013 -> 05:50 PM) Anyone familiar with selling tickets on Stub Hub? If I list tickets there but sell them on my own, is there a penalty or fee to take them off Stub Hub or should I just raise my price so high that I know they won't sell to avoid penalties? LOL Don't think there's a fee but you should take them off the instant you sell them. -
If you need tickets for this regional it'll be very easy, IU fans will flood the market.

Iowa fans post here.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Mar 17, 2013 -> 11:26 AM) Went back and looked it up. Only road win at Syracuse could touch IU's wins at Ohio State, at Michigan State and at Michigan. Louisville's best wins: Neutral court win over Missouri Home win over Marquette Road win at Syracuse Home win over Notre Dame Won Big East Tournament (includes neutral court wins over Notre Dame and Syracuse) Regardless, my last point from above still applies. Being in the Midwest is gravy, in no way is it an excuse to underperform. Yeah, but Louisville's losses are pretty legit. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Mar 17, 2013 -> 11:28 AM) Lunardi says no, in which case I will have to stay off Facebook for a couple days with all the angry U of L fans in my news feed. Wrong, Lunardi has Louisville in the Midwest on his bracket. -

BTW, does Louisville have the midwest regional now instead of IU? -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 17, 2013 -> 06:39 AM) Merry Christmas everyone! Not quite, Thursday tops today. -
Way to go Badgers. Crean, get off the court.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 15, 2013 -> 04:21 PM) Public service announcement for those going to the game. Don't drive down Madison st. Chicago is a grid system, use Jackson, Adams, Monroe, Washington or Randolph. You could almost walk faster than a car going down Madison. Randolph is the best way, easy to get to parking as well. However don't use Washington, as you'll be driving the wrong way on a one way...

Should be a good finish, Michigan just got right back in it in a hurry.
