  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 27, 2013 -> 11:03 PM) Ya...cause the Illinois job is better then the UCLA job, which he isn't even interested in. If he wants to be great, the UCLA job is the job he should have taken. Howland is out for reasons people aren't talking about. He's a great coach and just an awful people person and the UCLA roster has been a mess and that is why a change is being made. He needs to get out of SoCal, he just doesn't fit there. And I really really like Ben Howland the coach. Second time his post has been completely misunderstood (ss2k5). His point wasn't that Illinois is a better job than UCLA, not at all what he was saying.
  2. And the Flames got next to nothing for him in return, ouch.
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 25, 2013 -> 09:28 AM) Next Monday-- 52 and sunny. Keep it right there. You must have been looking at the wrong day, yesterday the projected high was 41 for Monday, but 54 for Sunday and 52 for Tuesday. Today the Monday high down to 38...yikes.
  4. On why Howland and Tubby out isn't outrageous http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ncaab--losing...cGFnZQ--;_ylv=3
  5. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 25, 2013 -> 01:02 PM) Groce loves chucking 3's. Its not going away unless he leaves. Whether he does or not, our team wasn't exactly full of guys that could get to the rim this year, and we had no post presence. It's what we had to do with this group, sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't.
  6. Hot tea helps, honey in there should help it as well. But yeah, lots of water and don't talk when not necessary.
  7. There's a huge difference between reviewing fouls and the play last night. I don't agree with reviewing fouls, those are judgment calls.
  8. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 25, 2013 -> 03:57 AM) Awful call that robbed Illinois a chance to tie the game, but refs need to be able to go review something like that. Its tough in real time. Let them use replay to get it right. Agree entirely. I thought it was pretty clear that it was out on Miami live-speed, but with a bunch of hands in the pile, tough to tell. I know the announcers talked about it afterwards, but maybe inside 2 minutes, or a minute, things like that can be reviewed. Plenty of other things can be reviewed, why not something like that that's black and white (with a good look). If they are worried about delaying the game, no one is going to be upset with that at the end of the game. There are already 5 timeouts taken in those 2 minutes, and they review almost 1 "flagrant" foul per game. We have the technology, might as well use it.
  9. This one f***ing hurts. That was a punch to the gut. We f***ing battled. We were gutsy. We gave them all they could handle, played even with them in almost every aspect. We had a great gameplan - bodes well for Groce, and why I think the program is in good hands. That call at the end sucked. Who knows what happens if we get the ball. I will absolutely not blame it on that, just wish they would have huddled - it appeared the guy at half court was about to point the other way, or at least had a question about it. But the gut punch was the Larkin step back 3. I'll have that shot burned in my memory forever. Here's why we lost: Player A: 1-10 from 3 Player B: 2-9 from 3 I hate to make it that simple, but it really comes down to that. We had a bunch of looks in the 2nd half that just didn't go down, a lot of them looked good and rattled out. Minus the last air ball, which I don't know how in the hell that happened. Never happy to end the season with a loss. But this team, which was dead in the water after last season, and dead in the water halfway through the year, rallied, made the round of 32, and took a (possible) final four team to the ropes. Things are looking up for the first time in 7 years. Hats off to the seniors. Way to go out battling, and way to salvage this year after you could have mailed the whole thing in after last year's debacle. Also props to Egwu. That was one of the gutsiest performances I've seen out of an Illini player in years. He got in there and battled and grabbed rebounds and loose balls like he was an all-american. That was something. Now it's time to look forward to football season.
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 24, 2013 -> 07:38 PM) Get hot Illinois. Shots shots shots shots shots shots shots. Make them.
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 24, 2013 -> 03:12 PM) Ha, sorry. You need to learn to embed videos. Paste the code, click Post Options dropdown (showing HTML off) - select HTML On - Auto Linebreak Mode Then I see you have posted a clever video. And then I give you credit. Haha thanks. Never really looked into how to do it, I'll try that next time.
  12. IU fans just lost a year of their life. You'll probably destroy Syracuse now after this escape.
  13. Favorable call on that Oladipo drive across mid-court...wow.
  14. That should be Temple's ball, break for IU.
  15. This isn't even Wichita St style making 3's and hitting shots (this game would be over), they are 2-19 from 3. This is IU refusing to take the game from them, Temple can't do anything either. I have no idea what offense this is, and Zeller looks lost/forcing things.
  16. First team to decide they want to make shots this half, wins.
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 24, 2013 -> 02:31 PM) This is probably the greatest thing in history. Way to not click my links (the post right above yours). We're so not friends.
  18. Join a conference, everyone else is
  19. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 17, 2013 -> 10:11 PM) Zags got by far the toughest 8-9 draw IMO. Pitt or WSU(I do think it will be Pitt) will definitely present Gonzaga with problems, I love this Zags team though, they'll get through me thinks. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Mar 17, 2013 -> 11:44 PM) Based on Rowand44's track record of falling in love with teams, I'd be willing to bet almost anything Gonzaga doesn't make it to the final four, and I suggest everyone reading this do the same. Yup
  20. Stevens and smart miss the sweet 16 while...
  21. Since Jay Bilas had VCU as a Final Four pick, I don't think it was terribly obvious that Michigan would beat VCU, and he watches a lot of basketball.
  22. Oh wow that Payne alley oop was sick.
  23. The game's been over for like 7 hours and I still have no idea how we won. 3 buckets in a half. OK then. Well, see you 7:40 Sunday night. You never know. We probably beat them 1/5 times, here's hoping Sunday is the 1, not the other 4.
