QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 04:15 PM) This is the Sammy Pahlsson trade renewed. f***, Pahlsson had 5 times the value Handzus does at this point, and Pahlsson didn't have much value. Handzus is a 4th line center some nights/scratch most other nights. Um, "upgrade" over Jamal Mayers I guess? So, still waiting for a legit move. Also a 4th for that, not good at all. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 12:17 PM) Does it bother anyone else that articles mention Michigan being in the final four for the first time since 1993 even though that appearance was vacated? I mean, isn't the point of vacating wins to pretend like they never happened because the team cheated to get there? Is that just crappy journalism or does it not matter? Here's the write-up about it (and headline) from ESPN.com: http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=330900057 There's not even an asterisk or footnote mentioning that 92 and 93 had the be vacated. Part of me says that's f***ed up. Good point, didn't think about that. There should most definitely, at the very least, be an asterisk, footnote, mention, etc. in any article. -

I'm hoping for Louisville/Michigan so we can get a track meet, 100-98 game Monday night. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 08:50 AM) Sid the Kid takes a puck to the face and hass his jaw broken. No concussion symptoms, but out 4-6 weeks. Sucks for hockey, he was back to his MVP form this year. Yeah it's terrible. He's having one of the best offensive seasons in a long time. Far and away the best player in the league. Just hope he's back in time for the playoffs. -
QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 31, 2013 -> 02:35 PM) They had some strange road losses in the SEC, but there's no question Florida is one of the best teams out there this year. They routed Marquette, which somehow made the Elite 8. This game isn't over unless Michigan decides to show over 60 percent from 3 all game. Plenty to question regarding Florida. Florida didn't have a tough schedule all year as the SEC sucked. Any close game they got in regular season, they lost. They finally faced a good opponent in the tournament, and got pounded. If they were in the Big Ten, not sure they'd be above 5th or 6th.

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 30, 2013 -> 05:54 PM) Is LaTulip a scholarship player or walk on? Just seeing him in high school, I believe he could be a Hulls type if he played but he won't play over Abrams. Preferred walk on -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 30, 2013 -> 01:51 PM) Knowing Steve a bit, I am pretty surprised. Good luck him. He's a scumbag, f*** him. -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 30, 2013 -> 12:34 AM) Wow, they were famous for like 5 days. There isn't one legitimate NBA prospect on that team. Win a game or two as a lower seed/underdog and you're suddenly god-like. That's college hoops, I guess. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Who gives a s*** if they have NBA players? That's relevant.

15 seed that made the sweet 16, first time in the history of the tournament. Indeed impressive. And yeah, I'm sure they did enjoy the hell out of it.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 29, 2013 -> 02:40 PM) Jim Boeheim on Indiana last night: "They never really succeeded in getting the ball in the right places," Boeheim said about the Hoosiers. "And it's not that easy, but it can be done. But they didn't know how to do that." How dare you question Crean, Mr. Boeheim. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 29, 2013 -> 12:25 PM) Langford would have played a lot and helped next year. Too bad about him. I don't think him playing a lot next year was a guarantee whatsoever. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 29, 2013 -> 12:21 PM) That is a lot of guys leaving. Hopefully it doesn't spook recruits to see that big of an exodus of current players. Not worried about that in the least. End of the bench guys that want to go play somewhere, and weren't "his" recruits. Now, if after next year some of his own recruits want to bolt, that could be an issue. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 29, 2013 -> 09:37 AM) Hope Langford does not transfer. And him leaving does not help out the class imbalance. I'd rather open up a scholly for Groce to bring in someone. -

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Mar 29, 2013 -> 09:25 AM) Illinois C Ibby Djimde is transferring according to a source @theRecruitScoop. 1 more schollie free, wouldn't be surprised if Langford and especially Shaw join him in leaving. Of the three, this was the most expected one. I hope Langford and Shaw follow, it will help out the ridiculous class imbalance we have right now. They aren't going to get minutes, so it's in their best interest anyway. -
It's fun to watch Tom Crean get all worked up and lose. Kind of hard to plan for Syracuse when they come at you with a zone defense out of nowhere.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 12:48 PM) You guys really need to take the blinders off. Illinois an elite job. GMAB. Does it have better potential then Iowa or Wisconsin and is it a better job then those schools, absolutely (I only throw Iowa in the mix because I'm an Iowa fan and wanted to show the fact that I am not blinded and don't see Iowa as the better job). It probably is the 4th or 5th best job in the conference but lets not act like you are selling recruits to play in downtown Chicago here. Yes they have a nice recruiting base, but there isn't really a lot that differentiates Illinois from some of the other big midwest schools near Chicago. If Illinois was in downtown or a 15 minute drive from downtown, that would be another story. You keep putting words in people's mouths. Also, got a couple recruits already coming from Chicago, and about to be more. You can't get everyone (and won't get THE top national guys) but we should get our fair share of talent now. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 12:44 PM) Are you guys just forgetting about the Ducks. They are pretty damn good too. No doubt they are good, right there with the Hawks. But on paper, after this week's acquisitions and their streak, they hold that #1 spot. -

Also, Penguins are clearly the "favorite" for the Cup now. Few weeks ago no one saw that leaving the Hawks. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 09:58 AM) His point was that Illinois is a better job because its lower stress, etc. The hell with that and I don't buy it. Illinois isn't one of the best jobs in its conference. That will make it harder for them to win at the elite level. At UCLA you are the best job in your conference and while their is pressure, these guys are winners and want to win it all. Thats why they do this. A young guy like Shaka...he can fail at UCLA and then go get an Illinois job. He should go for the best. Clearly he's going to stay in his comfort zone until whatever his perfect job is comes to him. People that strive to be the very best at what they do (and that is the case with most of these guys coaching at the D1 level) don't just say ahhh, this is as good as it gets. Maybe at some point they get to that point, but a young upstart, hell no. That isn't his nature so it is a stupid argument to me. If he wants comfort, he can just be the top dog in his little s*** conference and win every year. Nope, not a better job, a better FIT. Huge difference. And yeah, if he turned down UCLA but was really close to Illinois, then he was thinking it was a better fit too. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 08:49 AM) As an impending FA, there isn't much to get. That said, I wonder what the Hawks interest level even was. It was still really low, even factoring that in. Essentially got a 2nd round pick for him. -
QUOTE (zenryan @ Mar 27, 2013 -> 07:37 PM) maybe the out of bounds call really wasnt that bad of one... pic Post the pic from the other angle, the one you really need for that one.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 27, 2013 -> 10:27 PM) They blew 4 games against top big ten teams that they should have won. They didn't. They are moving in the right direction and would have been worthy of a birth. They are doing a nice job in the NIT and had a big road win against Virginia today (ending their long home winning streak). Point still stands, their non-conf killed them, if it was better they would have been in even with the same BT results.
