QUOTE(thedoctor @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 01:47 PM) i think wisconsin has a chance, but they have to play their best game. in terms of this game being on, i think abc wanted the illinois-osu game the following week so they could promo the hell out of osu-michigan. they did this last year with the osu-northwestern game. Do they really need to promo that game? This has been an important, end of season game for how long? It seems a bit odd. -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 04:17 PM) How can anyone say that someone is jumping off the Hawks bandwagon? Anyone who take ANY interest in the Hawks at all is not a bandwagon fan. They arent even close to that point yet. LOL, good point. If you are constantly posting in a thread about the Blackhawks of all teams like we all do, something must be up. If anyone was jumping off the bandwagon they've had about 10 years to do so. If you are still here now, you are the few, the proud, the marines...i mean die hard blackhawk fans. -

They have some talent, sure. But they have played terribly to start this year and are a mess of a team. You need to find a way to win that game. Keith nor I are jumping ship, far from it, just pissed we can't beat that team at home. There are going to be growing pains, we all realize that. I just want the Hawks to have this town as a whole interested come March because they are somewhere in the mix for the 8 spot. That means no 8 or 9 game losing streaks in November or January, hopefully. -

The Trashers have played pathetic hockey this year and are without Lehtonen. Hartley was fired. I'd say they were the worst team in hockey going into Saturday's game, which is really all that matters. -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Oct 26, 2007 -> 10:45 AM) Not really. Koci had a cut above his nose that Chara just cut open. It was a good shot, no doubt, but by no means was it an ass kicking. And fighting is fine in hockey. I have yet to see a convincing argument why it should be taken out. You take it out and you're going to have more bulls*** stickwork and plays like the Bertuzzi suckerpunch. Ding ding ding, we have a winner. BTW Keith I don't think it was just a cut, his nose was broken a week or so ago and just got busted open again, so it looked much worse than it was. Koci actually put Chara to his knees early in the fight. Take it out of the game and hockey would make SC on a weekly basis for stupid stuff. Hockey is a rough, physical game, more so than any other sport. Letting players take out their anger and police themselves by fighting is better than the alternative, period. -

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Oct 25, 2007 -> 10:07 PM) anyone see rick nash's goal tonight? Just went and looked...holy crap. That's a real nice play if he gets that on net on the ice, but to roof that is just ridiculously tough. That's really impressive. -

QUOTE(danman31 @ Oct 25, 2007 -> 10:17 PM) So everyone loves Matt Ryan, but does he get forgiven for still having 2 picks and a completion percentage below 50%? Overall a poor game, but everyone is raving about him. He was great at the end, but the 3 and 1/2 quarters of suckage needs to be mentioned. He just kept his team alive in the NC race with two td drives where he made plays both with his arm and his feet. That deserves a wow. Furthermore, the VT defense was in his face all night, it wasn't like he was missing receivers on every single play. The guy is still a pretty good QB. Whether or not he wins a Heisman is irrelevant in my mind...the significance of those two drives alone is just huge. -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 12:15 AM) Yeah, he was given the third star tonight and had three points. He might not turn into the prolific scorer we'd all hoped for, but if he becomes a solid second-line player who can consistently give the Hawks 20-25 goals and a total of 60-70 points, he'll be a valuable commodity to have and -- more importantly -- I'll finally have a jersey that I can wear proudly. Haha, ditto -
Hope all is well Jason, stay safe man

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Oct 23, 2007 -> 11:43 PM) Weidemann and Murray also mentioned that Havlat skated at full speed today. I think I'm setting myself up for dissappointment, though -- what happens the first time he gets checked into the boards? When Havlat does come back, I'd hope Savard chooses to be extremely careful with him, although I'm not necessarily sure what that constitutes... quicker shifts? Less overall ice time (perhaps giving Kane an extra shift or two that Havlat would normally have)? There's nothing you can do. He plays and he plays well or he ends up getting hurt again. There's no real precaution you can take other than putting him in the press box, which doesn't accomplish anything for the team. We'll cross our fingers but I'm not optimistic. Maybe he'll prove us wrong. We can only hope...that 1st line needs to score. -

QUOTE(SnB @ Oct 23, 2007 -> 10:59 PM) I think juice's ability w/ the option offense is a little more than "a bit better" than mcgee. The option is the heart of the offense. I think that if the other team can show that they know how/can defend the option, that's when you put mcgee in. But if the option is working (indiana game), you keep juice in there. Oh I agree. I'm more talking about better opponents that can stop the option. By all means if you can run the option and it works and you don't need to throw, you do it. But we found out what happens when you can't run it down someone's throat. -

I am never drunk at a sporting event I actually care about, so yeah, wasn't me whatsoever. I was up with SnB analyzing the game while stupid sorority girls talked bulls*** all around us. Ghey. Anyways, Juice does run the option a bit better (as SnB always mentions), but McGee is the better thrower. He can run it well enough IMO, and should be in there because he has a much better arm. I guess you really have to play both of them, but McGee should get more PT than he has. If you have to cut back the option a bit and have straight handoffs to Mendenhall that's fine, he can still run well. But the lack of a realistic passing game kills this team. I've never seen anything in Juice, and I don't think I ever will. Can't we just have Bacher as our QB or something? -

http://blackhawks.nhl.com/ext/rockywirtzmemo.pdf Full Rocky memo. You know, my whole life I've thought about how much the Hawks could change when Bill passed on ownership. I would think about what the Hawks used to be, when we had season tickets in the 2nd balcony at the Stadium, where I grew up with this team every game. They owned the town in the late 80s and early 90s, period. As I like to say, you couldn't steal a ticket back then. But nowhere in my heart of hearts did I think the change could be this drastic, this fast. I think most die hards thought things could change, but probably wouldn't too much unless the Wirtz's sold the team. Now, we're not winning a Stanley Cup real soon, but this whole new attitude where people who work there are on notice, Pulford is gone, and fans are going to be exposed to this team with home games on TV is just remarkable. On the ice, the team is off to a nice start and we have 2 superstars in the making. This is like getting hit by a ton of bricks. And damn does it feel good. In Rocky we trust. Someone make me a tshirt.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Oct 23, 2007 -> 12:30 PM) Rozner is a f***ing dolt. Instead of keeping that article about how the Hawks will be on TV for the first time ever and about how Rocky is changing things, he goes off on a tangent about how the Hawks should trade Khabibulin (yet, at the same time, insinuates that the team should be competing for a playoff spot THIS SEASON). I also love how he insinuates that Tallon has drafted poorly -- that's a riot. The guy is an idiot when it comes to the Hawks. Let's trade Habby, and have Lalime get us to the playoffs. Good call moron. And he's mixing up Smith's draft picks with Tallon's. Sometimes I think that Rozner thinks Tallon has been the GM for 10 years. He's bitter about Yawney and will never get over it.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Oct 20, 2007 -> 09:51 PM) Krush wasn't the idiot with the stupid hat, was he? Anyways, doctor summed it up perferctly. Illinois didn't make enough plays (or made too many dumb ones) to beat a more talented Michigan team. We're one dimensional on offense and that doesn't look to be changing. McGee should play every snap, just my opinion. We have zero passing game with Juice, none. And Locksley calls plays based on the fact that he can't throw a 15 yard pass, ever. OSU will beat us up pretty well, but we should be able to win the other 3 games. Don't get me wrong, this isn't a bad football team, but if we had an average big ten qb, this team would be up another level. This game isn't that disappointing because most of the wind was taken out of our sails with the Iowa game. That's the game you shouldn't have lost, this one I knew we could win but didn't think or expect to win. An 8-4 year with a bowl game would look pretty nice, hopefully we can get there. -
