  1. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 08:48 PM) Maximum penalty is life sentence solitary confinement. Its objectively provable that solitary confinement is terrible. There is a possibility that dieing is great. I dont want to take that risk. LOL dying is great? I don't think life in hell is great. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 09:28 PM) Right the govt has to protect its people. And you cant have terrorist propaganda that says "Even if you surrender they will kill you, so you should suicide bomb, you should never surrender." We want them to surrender peacefully, we have to give some sort of incentive to that. We need to be able to tell terrorists "If you turn yourselves in, it will be better than killing yourself and others." We're not a country that should bargain with terrorists. You're already dealing with crazy people as it is. You get a justice system to play it out if you surrender. You can just as easily argue that the death penalty could help be a bigger deterrent beforehand. Don't want to die? OK, don't kill innocent people. Anyway, he doesn't deserve to take another breath. It's your opinion that solidarity is worse, many people don't share that opinion with you.
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 07:50 PM) Is it confirmed these guys are Al Queda? Geraldo saying they are I thought he said they weren't.
  3. It has to feel really, really weird for doctors to help save this guy.
  4. Did I hear that correct on Fox a little while ago, in that this area was outside the area they searched earlier? Or did they mean he was outside the area and may have come back in?
  5. That press conference was sure something. Told people to be vigilant. Minutes later they find him.
  6. He's in the boat. True standoff going. Who knows how this ends.
  7. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 05:34 PM) This also could be false information. They may have an idea where he is, but figure he is watching the news/tv, thus if they say "oh we dont know we are moving on" maybe he relaxes makes a mistake. Russia did this during a terrorist attack. They had the news leak that they would be raiding at "3 am" but instead waited to "5 am". That's a good point, I just don't think they actually have a good idea. Otherwise they wouldn't have had so many resources going in Watertown and have nothing turn up.
  8. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 05:32 PM) I'm not a conspiracy guy, but there is definitely more to this than we know. I just can't believe this was a isolated incident carried out by 2 kids. Maybe it was, but it certainly seems fishy. It's not even really a conspiracy, that's entirely plausible. The question is who's the help and where is it coming from, whether it's local, international, both, who knows...
  9. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 05:32 PM) Don't ya think the parents would give them an all-clear with a wink or something? And he hears cops coming in, so it doesn't really matter. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 05:32 PM) Clearly, the people who refused the search wouldn't just have the police say thank you, have a nice day. Were all families agreeing to the search? If so then yes, if most of them were just saying everything's fine, then no reason to be suspicious.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 05:25 PM) The gunfight involved several hundred rounds being fired and explosives similar in scale to the ones used on Monday being lobbed at the police according to this briefing. Given that the chase seems to have covered a good fraction of the metro area, it's plausible he got out during the confusion. I'm wondering if he found a way to grab a different car. That'd be the best way out he could get. Agreed, just doesn't seem like another carjacking because we haven't heard anything yet, unless there's a dead victim. I wonder what manpower/vehicles were available during that gunfight. Cops definitely saw him get in the car and back over his brother and drive away, but apparently no one followed him or was able to track him for very long. That or they were just concerned with the older brother having a bomb on him, and figuring they'd catch up to the other brother soon enough. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 05:25 PM) I hear police were going door to door, ASKING if owners wanted house searched. I think forcing a search would be illegal. That's how it went down? That seems easy to get around. "I'm going to hold your 4 year old here in the basement while I watch the news. If you tell the police you want a search of the house, I kill her, so tell them everything's OK."
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 05:18 PM) He had to have gotten out of this particular area before the dragnet came down. This has to be it, he either drove out of town or ditched that car somewhere and got away on foot. Hell he could have had someone pick him up.
  12. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 04:54 PM) getting close to clearing all the quadrants This is not good. Still shocked he was able to drive away after initial shootout.
  13. Mother saying one of her sons was followed by the FBI for 3 years. Teased by CNN before break, interview apparently coming up.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 04:10 PM) How do you actually become 100% done with searching a city of 30,000+ inhabitants? Serious Q...even if everything is shut down, it's always possible to find places to hide. But really, the answer is, the net will get wider with time, there's a decent chance he's already found a way to flee. Yeah I don't know, just saw they said like 70% done a couple hours ago. I don't know where you hide in times like this, but I could see it turning into a hostage situation. Overall I'm just surprised it's gone on this long. I thought I would have woken up to him dead.
  15. What happens when they get 100% done with Watertown and don't have him...I'm really surprised he's lasted this long without capture. I guess it's possible if he was wounded that he's bled to death somewhere. Or even just killed himself. You also have to think about the fact that he needs food and sleep too, he's probably been up for almost a day and a half.
  16. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 03:55 PM) The natural reaction is denial. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K%C3%BCbler-Ross_model Anything else by the father would generally be considered not normal behavior. Even with insurmountable facts, denial makes sense. "This cant be true" "There must be some other explanation" Those are natural reactions. People are just jumping to conclusions like its nothing. Which is so hilarious given the fact that 3 days ago everyone was jumping to conclusions about 2 other suspects. Where does "threatening more harm" come into play?
  17. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 03:42 PM) Can you imagine the feelings of a father who had kids that perpetrated a crime like this? And seeing how these two apparently had some very strong anti US feelings, I am willing to place a strong bet that the apple doesnt fall far from the tree. In short, I dont expect their dad to say anything remotely sane We're obviously not in his shoes. But at least the uncle was sane. Saying someone's a coward when your son was shooting at them is just stupid. Although they may not have killed him, who knows, may have died from being run over by his own brother. Also, this whole "hell to pay" thing, right.
  18. I like how Dad is saying they were framed. Framed people generally don't have guns and explosives on them, or shoot at cops. He also called the cops who shot his son "cowards." Yup, cowards for defending themselves when being shot at. Your sons are the cowards, and we're not afraid of your "hell to pay" after your other son ends up dead.
  19. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 03:16 PM) ABC Boston now reporting that the suspects were not involved in the 7-11 robbery last night as was previously reported. So now the theory is that they just happened to be in the area as the MIT cop was responding to the robbery and that is what set everything off. So much contrasting info out there. Other sources said the MIT officer was sitting in his car and they just randomly killed him.
  20. Cops are looking for a possible suspect vehicle...who knows if it's just a car he/his brother owns or if they think he's on the road now.
  21. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 01:09 PM) Is she the wife of the uncle that says they deserve to die? I don't think so as she was in Toronto. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 01:11 PM) I'd imagine there's a strong psychological denial urge at play there. Would you believe it right away if one of your family members was named the suspect? Maybe not initially when photos were out, but after they rob a convenience store, kill a cop, get in a shootout, take a car, throw explosives at cops, and have explosives on them when found dead, and still running away...then yes, I think I would.
  22. Their aunt is crazy. Basically said she thinks they were set up or the pictures/video was set up. This gets weirder by the hour.
  23. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 12:15 PM) I was mostly working on Badger's thoughts. If he doesn't kill himself and fights back, the police are going to kill him anyways. It's tough to imagine a situation in which he doesn't die at this point.
