  1. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 09:11 PM) LOL. It's incredible to me that 4 runs against the Royals doens't feel like a big lead. WTF is goin on. Freddy does not nearly have his best stuff tonight.
  2. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 04:21 PM) That's been said but that's because the Phillies want to buy and not sell. If they have a chance at Burnett and Wagner has to be part of the deal they'd definitely think of it. I know it has been said before but if the Phillies are interested in it, this is the correct deal. Most seem to be lukewarm to the Burnett deal if Contreras is not included. (Contreras doesn't do it for me in the bullpen. It'll damage his psyche too much) If Contreras is not part of the deal and we get AJ and Lowell, I wouldn't mind taking on Thome's contract to make our bullpen rock solid through the postseason. Flipping them for Thome and Wagner is the right way to go. But I'm a little nieve about Thome. Whats he looking like this year (other than smaller) and what does his contract look like?
  3. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 04:04 PM) Houston might be the favorite right now to win the NL wild card. Agreed. They finally have the dominant Big 3 they have been waiting for. Pettite is healthy and almost back to form and their offense is clicking a little bit. By no means are they a dominant team but they seem to be making up for lost time.
  4. QUOTE(Tadahito15 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 04:06 PM) Speculation or did I miss something in one of the 40 some pages??? Speculation as far as I know.
  5. QUOTE(Pods70Rowand33 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 03:58 PM) -asked him about rhode island, and growing up there. -grew up a yankee fan and hated the red sox -asked him how he'd characterize his season so far, and paul said ok. said he's been inconsistant, but as a team its been good. but all in all pretty good -asked him why for him its been ok, and he said just because he hasnt been consistant -asked about what kind of buzz there is in chicago...said it's growing and that the fans like the team. there have been sell outs -paul characterizes the club as pitching...ands says bullpen has been lights out...pods and gooch set the table. -asked who the clubhouse leader is...and paul says everyone has their say, and says ozzie keeps everyone in line. good atmosphere, everette and buehrle have been good. Thanks for the cap.
  6. ugh, that sounds like a crap fluff piece.
  7. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 02:26 PM) Correct. Actually, we wouldn't face them in the ALDS. Who knows if they make it to the ALCS.
  8. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 02:01 PM) I almost want Oakland to win the wildcard. You cant hope for the worse teams to get into the playoffs just so you can beat up on them to advance to the ALCS. No matter what, you are going to be facing two of the top 4 teams in the AL(If you advance), and eventually the top team in the NL. You arent going to find out if you can be competitive in the WS and ALCS by pounding a lesser team in the first round. Bring on the big boys, beat the big boys, get some respect along the way. The Angels had to do it the hard way, the Marlins had to do it the hard way, and the Red Sox had to do it the hard way. There is no easy way. Agreed. But I don't care what the way is. Just so they win it their way.
  9. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 01:58 PM) We wouldn't be playing them first, though. I think its obvious we don't want anyone from the Central. We probaly want someone from the East. Any one of Boston/Baltimore/New York would do. All have horrible starting pitching. Just stay the hell away from Oakland. This also doesn't take into account if Oakland continues on their run and Anaheim slips a little bit. We may have to play the Angels as the Wild Card winner. Thats only second in s***tiness to playing Oakland. We match up better with them but the West Coast is still the West Coast.
  10. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 01:56 PM) i'm willing to bet there would be high intesnity and packed crowds if we played tampa bay in the playoffs. Yeah, but spanking the Yankees in front of all the national media would be a great thing indeed.
  11. As the wild card race heats up, I was wondering about everone's opinion on their Wild Card preference. Not to look to far ahead, but if the Sox finish with the best record in the AL, this might be our opponent. Personally, I think I would rather have Baltimore win out the wild card but I think that they are going to fade down the stretch. But having an AL east team win the wild card might put the AL East winner vs. the AL West winner. I'd rather have our guys not have to play in the playoffs on the West Coast right away but thats just my little opinion. Please let Oakland cool off down the stretch. This may be the only time I will root for the Twins.
  12. Let's go guys. Keep it rollin' in KC!!!!
  13. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 08:34 AM) still more doubters, i guess i shouldnt complain keep doubting us and then we will see you in october.... http://redsox.bostonherald.com/redSox/view...articleid=95142 Win one WS and you gain a false sense of reality. Nevermind the fact that we would easily be running away with it in their division. Everyone else in our respective diluted division has equal records as the east despite us running away with the lead. Our top 3 teams vs. the East = 13 games above .500 Their top 3 teams vs. the Central = 4 games above .500
  14. QUOTE(3E8 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 09:35 PM) Did anyone hear DJ invent a new word today? I can't remember what they were, but he called two separate things "dramastically" different. I heard that too and was laughing to myself. Sort of a combo of dramatic and drastic if you will. Btw, DJ's gotta go. Kittle & Hawk = Heaven
  15. Great win guys!!! Nice way to take it to the Carmines!!!
  16. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 01:35 PM) I think San Diego only wears camiflouge because of the naval base near there--so I would be pretty shocked if the Sox got them. And when I first read that post I thought he was talking about these camis. And I was very confused. We have Great Lakes Naval Base. They should have worn them for the White Sox Special Regiment ceremony on Tuesday. Would have been perfect! Btw, I would go with the silver cami's with the tiny lace trim. The color would look nice with their shoes.
  17. I'm looking forward to the cami's, ala San Diego Padres.
  18. QUOTE(HSC's Biggest Fan @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 05:35 PM) AS of yesterday, they had well over 30K a game except for tomorrow which was at 19.5K. I get Mondays game but why so many tickets to Wednesdays game? Its a day game and everything?
  19. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:02 PM) Twinkies losing 3-2 in the 11th We might face the spankees at this rate in the playoffs if they sqeak in as the wild card Texas 10-9, Bottom 7th
