  4. ABC7 April 13, 2007 - A lottery ticket led Chicago police to a suspect in the 2005 murder of two people at a Southwest Side Store. Surveillance video showed a suspect buying lottery tickets before the murders. Those numbers matched the address of the suspect's home. Timothy Fountain, 37, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder. He was linked to the crime by the lottery tickets, a witness and DNA. Police credit "good, old fashion detective work" in the arrest. "Area 1 detectives actively and aggressively worked this case for the past 2 years," said Patricia Walsh, Chicago Police Dept. Fountain is accused killing 38-year-old Graciela Rodriguez and 76-year-old Nicholas Guerrero almost two years ago during a robbery at Maggy's Food, a corner store in Brighton Park. The suspect was seen on surveillance tape forcing Rodriguez, the cashier, to open the register. Police say the suspect then took both Rodriguez and Guerrero, a customer, to the back and shot them. Before the robbery, the suspect played the lottery and left the Pick Four tickets --with the numbers 5150 and 5157 -- in the store. The tickets were bearing. "These numbers checked against the Chicago police arrest data base. This check resulted in finding that Timothy Fountain resided at an address that matched one of these numbers," said Walsh. There was also a match using the police department's DNA database with materials collected under Guerrero's fingernails. Fountain has an extensive criminal background with 31arrests and 7 convictions ranging from domestic battery to burglary. Police informed the victims' relatives of the arrest. "They're pleased that someone is being held responsible of course it doesn't bring loved ones back," said Velma Candelario, Chicago Police Department. Fountain will appear in bond court on Monday. WOW
  5. With the exposure they got they can get a new couch for free Im sure
  6. QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 04:44 PM) I think he should be treated like anyone else. Since he was a copper, he should get fired, but charged with regular battery like anyone else. And how exactly was that abuse of power? Having other cops going in there and threatening and trying to bribe is abusing their power. He shouldnt be treated as "anyone" else because of the oath he takes as a police officer. He is protected by special laws that say if anyone hits him, regardless of how severe it is a felony. Therefore, he should be held to the same standard. Im not saying this guy is the second coming of Hitler but I do think he should be held to higher standards because of his job.
  7. If battery against a police officer is a felony than a police officer beating someone else should be. This is severe abuse of power.
  8. QUOTE(WhiteSoxFan1 @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 04:21 PM) Oh I know. My latest ex, not only approved, but sadly was more into it than I was. Sadly?
  9. QUOTE(pale_hose @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 03:06 PM) I hate Michael Barrett... I also hate any Twins or Tiger fans...Especially Tiger fans b/c they all this they are a dynasty...Well they got SWEPT in the world series! Nobody remembers the loser from the WS! I dont think anybody remembers that World Series period.
  10. pretty crazy if you think about it, but with the exception of a few guys like Zambrano, Pujols and King Felix, everybody has 1,2 or even all three of their picks from the AL Central. Actually, mostly from the Twins
  11. I remember seeing an interview with him a few years ago and Im not 100% sure but think I remember him saying something along the lines of: If the Cubs and Astros were tied on the last game of the season and the only way the Cubs would get in to the playoffs is if St Louis beat Houston he would rather the Astros won because he hates the Cardinals that much. Im pretty sure it was something along those lines.
  12. Interesting idea. It would be a nice replacement but only if they were gonna get rid of Briggs, if not it might lock up too much cap space. Id like to see us take a look at him though. Then we can here the announcers talk about how fast he is every week instead of just when Denver plays in prime time.
  13. Are there roads on the South Side?
  14. I cant believe I forgot this one... Everyday Damaso Marte
  15. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 12:44 PM) Yes, running Vista and the CNN problem has been blogged to death. This one is the pain because I dislike using IE. Ya, Im pretty much done with IE, especially with the newer version used that came with the Vista computer. Im just gonna wait it out and how they come up with some upgrades.
  16. QUOTE(WhiteSoxFan1 @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 01:27 PM) id post a pic (sorry no cheerleading outfit or popsicles, lol) but knowing my luck someone will know her, or worse yet her bf/ex whatever, is a sox fan and posts here. Her boyfriend is obviously a Cubs fan...cmon, all the fighting probably started because of their current skid.
  17. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 12:03 PM) No joke. Why do you hope it is? You were carrying a knife on you and after the guy left you showed it to the girl? Thats pretty serious. Also, you shouldnt of let that guy push you around, hes the one who couldnt keep his girlfriend happy and it sounded like he was trying to take it out on you.
  18. Religion, race, gender aside I dont think my couch could taunt me enough where I wouldnt want to sit on it because it reminded me of anything. Sounds like theyre making unnecessary drama.
  19. If you get attached easily, seriously dont even bother. It appears youve already made up your mind and are gonna go so i would just warn to be careful. First of all, shes using you, without a doubt you are a ploy to piss off her "ex" and you could get sucked into some kind of drama like fighting. Also, I wouldnt bank too much on this "fun" if shes been together with a guy that long I doubt shes looking for something like that right away. If shes already told you shes more than likely going to get back together with her ex than I doubt she would do anything to jeopardize her relationship. It sounds like she needs a friend to b**** about her exboyfriend with. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 10:59 AM) Watch out for the ex. I was once in your situation, went out with her, ran into the ex., and proceeded to have the guy come after. I was at the friggin' mall the first time, he started pushing me around, threw a punch which I moved out of the way of and then I got out of there. Secruity caught up with him and threw him out of the place. She was all happy and impressed that I didn't resort to violence. I told her I didn't do it to impress her. I then pulled out the butterfly knife I used to carry and told her I didn't care to go to jail for her worthless ass. I then left her and never called her again. The idiot was outside waiting for me, so I had security get me to my car and keep him around. The next year+ I would run into this ass in different places, and it was always the same, he would come after me for going out with his "ex". I kept telling him it was one date. They were back together by that point also. Just because she is on a break doesn't mean he is willing to be on that break, especially if she is saying they will probably get back together. That ain't a dream situation, that's a wacky situation, and one to steer VERY clear of. I hope this is a joke
  20. Are you using Vista? For the CNN videos, Ive had the same problem with some videos where it tells me I need to download windows media player and I already have the latest version. I think they just havent updated for Vista yet. As far as the Soxtalk problem the only thing I have noticed is sometimes when I hit fast reply the box doesnt show up but usually if i hit it once or twice more it does.
  21. QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 06:51 PM) So if it turns out it was a translation 'error' from China, does the family file a civil rights lawsuit against China, or just stick with the locals that they can more easily reach? Im sure theres some sort of chain of command of who to sue. Im sure Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton have it written down in their wallets so its easily accessible.
  22. QUOTE(FoxySoxGirl @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 10:00 PM) Why are some people so slow to get these damn tests if there's a quetion of paternity? Then again there are those idiots who get letters from a doctor's office about not being a dad, accept it, and pitch the letter in the trash. Some people are just not smart! In this case it was because the baby was born in the bahamas and they have different laws than us. Stern knew it wasnt his baby so he tried to hide behind Bohemian laws to prevent the test from being performed.
