QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 11:20 AM) The NBA as a superstar driven game has been unbearable for a long time anyway. This week of ego stroking and fawning over every single work these guys had to say about the NBA didn't help at all. They keep playing fake phone call clips of Favre calling LeBron to get this over with so people will start talking about if he is coming back already. Even the media knows how ridiculous this has gotten.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 10:53 AM) Well if he wants to win titles than you can easily defend him signing with the Heat, but between the Cavs, Knicks, Bulls and Nets I agree with you. If he went to the Bulls or Heat that team becomes an immediate title contender assuming the Bulls got Boozer/Lee. However in Miami he will never be "the man" and probably wont be in the conversation with MJ/Kobe when its all said and done. Look at Scottie Pippen, he led the Bulls deep in the playoffs without MJ and is considered one of the best all around players of all time but he is always in Jordans shadow. Kobe knew he had to win without Shaq to seal his legacy and he has and people are throwing him into the conversation for the best of all time now. Some people might not see the relevance of this but if Ive learned anything the past few weeks its that LeBrons ego is driving him. Chicago is such a unique opportunity because it has the 2 most vital positions, pg and c, secured with Noah and Rose who are in their early 20s. Theyre also both young enough where LeBron could come in and run the show without stepping on their toes. Lets say he stays in Cleveland. They arent winning anything with their roster, not to mention how much the power has shifted in the east. He will end up like Kevin Garnett jumping teams in his early 30s to get his ring or two before he reitres. A situation I think people might be overlooking is the Knicks if he truly believes they can get Mello or Tony Parker or both next year. Hed get the Knicks in the playoffs net year and then have the potential to add another superstar next offseason. Thats obviously much riskier but its still a viable option. We know he likes NY. I know ESPN has basically ruled out Chicago but they have proved time and time again they have zero idea what theyre talking about. I will wait and see what happens but if he doesnt sign here guess what, Hawks are Stanley Cup Champs, Sox are on fire and one game out and the Bears got Julius Peppers. I can live without the NBA right now.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 10:49 AM) At this point, I'm more interested in hearing the apparently glaring argument that the Bulls can acquire Carlos Boozer and Mike Miller or J.J. Redick (Allen isn't coming here) and be good enough to win an NBA Title than hearing defenses of how awesome a job the Bulls did missing on the top 3 free agents. Nobody is saying that is good enough to win a title. I didnt know winning championships was easy and to be expected. I guess we should blow the team up with our 2 rising stars and call it a decade because Chris Bosh didnt sign with the Bulls.
-
You guys realize Wade was never leaving Miami right? Quite the fools errand for Bulls brass to sway his decision when he had no intentions on leaving. We know Bosh is a little fruitcake piggy backing the big 2 and was going to end up with one of them. That basically leaves us with LeBron (who hasnt announced where he is going) to lure into Chicago. One of the most sought after free agents in sports history and were still in the running to get him and I still contest he is an idiot if he doesnt come here considering the situation he would be walking into. What a fail.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 10:40 AM) Chicago makes a ton of sense for any of the big free agents. I suppose there are two ways to look at this really: either the Bulls are some sort of victim because they made this an attractive spot to come to and none of the big guys did, or they didn't do a good enough selling job of how attractive a spot this is.So we didnt sell Dwayne Wade on how great a city Chicago is?
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 10:29 AM) So it's not the Bulls fault they came up empty here? I mean, yeah we're venting our frustrations, and I agree that you can't make anybody come here. But the Bulls are going absolutely nowhere anytime soon now, and regardless of how good of a shot they gave it, this has been a completely failure. And just sitting there and saying oh well isn't good enough. What should they have done? LBJ hasnt signed yet. Does Chicago not make the most sense for him? If he signs here is up to him but theres only so much you can do. They cleared cap for two big free agents and have 2 stud players in their early 20s already in place. Should we have sent Oprah? Asked Obama to make a call? If you put LeBron on this team with a Boozer/Lee type theyre the favorites in the east, even over the Heat. They created the best scenario out of any other team to lure free agents here but if they dont want to play here for whatever reason thats life.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 09:33 AM) It's the fault of nobody but the Bulls if Wade hustled them. Shame on the Bulls for buying it. So you think they should have denied Wade the opportunity to talk with the team assuming he was a spy? The guy was going around in the media basically saying being near his kids could be a deciding factor in his decision. Seems very legit to me. Whats funny is I can imagine how outraged you would be if the Bulls snubbed hometown hero Dwayne Wade when he just wanted to play close to his family in Chicago.. Hindsight is 20/20 I guess but Ill bet almost all of us were giddy with the idea of Wade coming to Chicago. As far as suspecting it? Who knows, we dont know what was said or what information they made him privy to. I doubt they laid out the blueprint to success they were planning with him and asked for his opinions. Wade is just a shady guy I guess. People can guess where LeBron will go all day and I know it looks bad, but barring him going to Miami, Chicago is his only chance to be part of a dynasty to have the potential to get him multiple rings being "the man" and we know the ego this guy has.

QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 09:13 AM) Meh, I can't blame LBJ for doing the TV thing. The reporters were going to be hanging out in front of his house for hours with locals chanting for him to stay, etc., anyway. All they're doing is organizing and controlling the process rather than letting it turn into mayhem. He needed an hour?

QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 09:13 AM) For some reason, I just thought of the Bulls on the defensive end versus the Heat next year and how we would be able to match up pretty decent on them. Joakim can take Bosh, Deng on Beasley and Hinrich would be able to stop Wade as always, oh wait..... Well, trade didnt technically go through yet, jussayin

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 08:53 AM) I don't think LeBron gives a crap. I can safely say I have no idea what LeBron has going on in his head. Im trying to think about this in the most basic way for each scenario. Cleveland- IMO cant be an option at this point Chicago-Rose/Noah, Big market, hed be "the guy", max contract, money for another piece Miami-perennial super team, would never be his team, not max money, no depth New York- He likes the city, Amari, potential for Mello New Jersey-huge Jay Z fan, likes the Russians accent, some good young players with Harris, Lopez, Brooklyn down the road I know Im biased but this seems like such a no brainer its ridiculous. As someone said earlier, LeBron and Boozer in Chicago would make for an awesome rivalry with Miami and IMO Chicago would easily have the upper hand.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 08:48 AM) I find it a little puzzling that this happened the way it did. Both Wade and James clearly wanted to stay home and get Bosh to join them. For some reason Wade won. Now the question is what will Lebron do. It again comes back to what he wants. If it's rings, his best bet is still Chicago. As much as ESPN is pimping NY, they still suck, Amare or no Amare. They're the same team, just replace Lee. Cleveland is still a contender, mainly because of Lebron, but they are limited in what they can do. And the Heat, while better than last year because of Bosh, still can't be considered that much of a contender since they have zero shooters. Hopefully Lebron got blindsided by this decision. Hopefully he realizes that Rose/Noah with Boozer or Lee is his best shot to win and win now. On Mike and Mike this morning even the Cleveland beat writer seemed to suggest that it would be foolish to count the Bulls out because it's his best shot to win. Broussard keeps talking up the Lebron to Miami idea. But I don't see it. Too many alpha dogs. Why not announce during Lebron's special tomorrow? I dont think he will go to Miami but I think its a possibility. I like what Broussard has been saying. Bringing up LeBron going to Miami could tarnish his legacy (Not Broussards opinion). I also like that Legler said LeBron and Boozer to the Bulls makes them the best team in the NBA.
-
QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 08:46 AM) LeBron is 25, Bosh is 26. . . try 7, 8 years. I think he is referring to the length of the contracts more than age.
-
If we have a shot at LeBron I would want Boozer at whatever cost we could afford. Otherwise I still would like him but I wouldnt give him a max contract. I dont want to just overpay for 2 guys if we strike out just to make it look like we did something. There are still some big names becoming FAs next year and our 2 stars are insanely young. Who knows who might become available via trade also. We dont want to miss out on someone next year because we overpaid for guys this year. Also, if LeBron does wind up going to Miami still, he is the biggest cheesedick in the world. To have this "TV Special" to announce going to the Heat the day after Wade and Bosh announced it would be ridiculous.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 08:23 AM) Really? Does it matter that we handled ourselves well when our team is f***ed in basketball limbo with prolly 26 other teams for the next 10 years? Yay, we asked our girls to the prom the most impressively...but we're still going stag. I feel sorry for all those that bought season tickets. They got it to the point the media was reporting Wade and Bosh signing in Chicago was imminent. Wade was dicking the Bulls around the whole time. What more could they really have done? They almost have enough cap space for two max contracts, have some decent pieces for sign and trades and already have Rose and Noah in place to make the idea of coming to Chicago the best option for most logical people. I mean seriously, if LeBron thinks its a better idea to stay in Cleveland or go to NY then youre not gonna change his mind anyway because he obviously isnt interested in what we have to offer.
-
Im surprised to hear people upset at the way the Bulls have handled this. No matter what happens I like how Chicago approached this off-season.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 07:26 AM) To calm myself a little. If the Bulls can get Boozer and Allen it'll basically tell LeBron "Look, this is the only place you can beat whatever mega team Miami is putting together." The Heat-Bulls rivalries would be insane if LeBron came here. Exactly what Ive been texting back and fourth with my brother. He wont win the east in Cleveland anymore. If he goes to the Knicks he is banking on next years FA. Bulls are his best shot at winning multiple rings.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 07:20 AM) Most of the ESPN guys have been throwing (bleep) at the wall to see what sticks. This appears to be more legit.
-
Theyre all over LeBron to the Knicks on M&M. Unless they have Carmello Anthonys word in blood that hes going to the Knicks next year it would amaze me if he went there. Knowing that Bosh might be out of the picture helps us IMO. Assuming LeBron thinks Miami will be a power in the EAST now it would really shock me if he didnt put himself in a position to compete with them for the next 5 years. If he goes back to Cleveland he will have a large task getting through the EAST. Same with the Knicks.

Mike and Mike have Broussard (sp) on and he is claiming Wade and Bosh to Heat is a done deal. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5360134
-
It might be possible to people are clinging to the idea of getting Wade over LeBron because it sounded like we were on the verge of getting Bosh and Wade last night and people got excited. There is still the chance of us getting nobody so some people might be happy with landing two of the big three FA's before they can get away. I dont see how anyone can honestly think its better to get Wade if we had our choice of him and LeBron though.

I throw left and bat right. I can also catch with a glove on either hand. In little league growing up I always had a glove on my left hand and would have to catch the ball, pull my glove off and then throw with my left hand.
