  1. QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 12, 2009 -> 09:53 PM) So, uh... Nevermind. luckily I was late and Flacco was still in.
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 13, 2009 -> 11:52 AM) I'm with you. God forbid someone has fun playing football. I think the majority of the stuff he does in funny but the dollar bill thing was one of the dumbest things I have ever seen an athlete do. Whats worse is the fact that an assistant coach actually gave him the dollar. When 85 asked for it what could he possibly have thought it was for?
  3. I got Flacco on the waiver wire a few weeks ago and havent used him. He is at Cleveland. Even when team doesnt look good Cutler seems to put up good numbers for me so its a tough choice this week. Big yardage bonuses in this league. Cutler got 40 points last week.
  4. QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Nov 10, 2009 -> 12:19 PM) Sometimes I wish Yahoo would use the power league option. Where you would play every team every week and obtain wins and losses depending on how many points your team scores a week as opposed to other managers. This however would eliminate the fun of smack talk and giving other managers crap like you would in individual matchups. Yahoo does have those leagues.
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 07:32 PM) Tirico called Kyle Orton a "journeyman QB". Um, the Broncos are his 2nd team. I'd like him to call Favre that. I think he just means he will never be a mainstay as a QB for a franchise. Anywhere he goes he will be keeping someones seat warm.
  6. I wish i got this thing because it would have been great, but nothing.
  7. f***ing Kyle Orton. I was up bu 52 points and Pitts D and Mendenhall beat me and the last pick he threw sealed the game because I was up 1 point.
  8. QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 12:36 PM) Because you didn't want Brady's 5 TDs in one game...? 5 tds in 1 quarter. 6 in the game.
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 7, 2009 -> 04:36 PM) I'm confused....how can Tmobile legally help you with a Iphone since its only on ATT? My phone is unlocked so it can be used with T-Mobile. They wont go and advertise that they will do it, but if you walk into a store with an unlocked iphone and want to switch to their service they will set you up with the correct data plan so that you can use the iphone for much cheaper than AT&T. For example, here is a T-Mobile forum with an employee explaining it. Also, if anyone with an iphone is interested in jailbreaking/unlocking it, I can walk you through it in about 5-10 minutes.
  10. I had Sprint for like 8 years up until about 3 months ago. Sprints prices are pretty good, their coverage was incredible and they had a lot of the top phones. Their customer service was brutal however. I just switched to AT&T just to get the iphone and their reception is such horse s*** its ridiculous. Some people say the iphone on top of AT&T contributes to the poor service but either way its terrible. I drop calls when I am at home on wifi 10 feet away from my router and I get zero reception in the high rise in the city I am working unless I am by a window that faces south. Im pretty sure I am going to switch to t-mobile so I can keep my iphone and drop AT&T. From what I hear they are pretty good and they are very accommodating to setting up people with iphones and picking the best plans. Anyone with T-mobile have any insight to how their reception is?
  11. I think this is a poor attempt at a thread of the year run that went nowhere
  12. Last year in a pay league through TalkBears I had a trade I accepted vetoed by all but like three players in the league. My team was destroyed by injuries and s***tiness (Brady, ochocinco, etc) and it was an extremely deep league. There were 4 flex positions and it was to the point I was starting guys like Sproles and Jason Campbell. Someone offered me Eddie Royal and Derrick Ward for TO and I accepted because it would give me two guys I could start every week. Most of the people thought it was ridiculously one sided and were b****ing and everyone vetoed it. When I tried to explain the logic I got a line that sums up why people should let trades go through (unless they are obvious dumps to help one team) "some guy offered me chris johnson and wes welker for LT, maybe I should accept that." This was after week 2 or 3. So in the end, a trade that 6-7 of 9 thought was so 1 sided that they needed to block it ended up with Eddie Royal alone outscoring TO and then throwing in a 1000 yard rusher who had a 200 yard game during playoff time.
  13. QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 10:02 AM) Defense is always the position I put the least stock into when drafting and kickers. Both positions are inconsistent and people usually just end up picking up the first breakthrough player at each. For me GB seems to be underrated every year at team defense so I'll continually take them because they are usually a good source of turnovers and some sacks. Kickers I usually draft a kicker late that has a week 10 bye, Tynes has worked out well in most my leagues I'd say. Fwiw, Miles Austin and Vernon Davis have been great so far, quite possibly my best transactions ever. That was a joke. He said teams always score a lot of points on him. I dont draft defenses at all. I go by committee and having that extra bench player is huge when injuries come in to play and someone else took Baltimores defense in the 11th round.
  14. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Nov 4, 2009 -> 05:30 PM) It's not an iPhone killer, just like the other iPhone killers weren't iPhone killers. See the HTC Touch. See the Palm Pre. See countless others. At best, it will match the iPhone, and I think people would be happy with that. It will have some features that are better, some that are worse...but it will not kill the iPhone. I'm betting it doesn't even make a dent in the iPhone's sales. Ive had the Touch/Instinct/Pre and now I have the iphone. I think it will be years before another phone can catch up to the iphone. So much groundwork has been laid in terms of what the iphone can do that a first gen phone wont be able to threaten it. Im sure the iphones reign will end but they would be better suited trying to continue the advancement of one phone than to shove the new iphone killers down our throat for a few months and then move on to the next one.
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 1, 2009 -> 09:50 PM) f*** you John Fox for giving J Stewart all of the red zone carries today. I really needed those TDs and will probably lose after tomorrow night. EDIT: Wind up losing by 4 pts last night in my big $ league so f*** you once again John Fox, f*** you Childress for running on 4th down at the end of the game instead of an easy FG, f*** you Dallas Clark for not getting 1 more yard to get the 3 pt bonus for 100 yds, and f*** you McNabb for not running up the score in the 2nd half. GAH I HATE THIS HOBBY! ANd once again, like every season it seems like, my team has given up the most points allowed for the season. Every week I play the guy who has his best game of the season. draft a better defense
  16. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Nov 3, 2009 -> 03:13 PM) Damon is a smart hitter. I would much rather have him over Pods. But if we are going to upgrade, im sure there are even better names out there on the trade front. and a smarter baserunner.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 3, 2009 -> 12:29 PM) Damon can't field just like Pods. Is he an upgrade? No. Damon isnt an upgrade over Pods offensively?
  18. After watching him steal 2nd and 3rd on one pitch and the significance his baserunning had on throwing off lidge I would love it. Having a guy who can lead off, hit around .300 and hit 20+ homeruns would make the top of our lineup very scary. It also gives us another base stealer. I would be surprised if the Yanks didnt resign him though.
  19. Im in LA for the weekend and Im going as Shawn Merriman and a girl Im friends with is going as Tila Tequila. Im pregaming before going to the bar for the costume contest.
  20. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 23, 2009 -> 09:11 AM) Jailbreaking is very dangerous. If you screw it up, or something goes wrong, you have a completely dead iPod and Apple wont fix it for you. You can restore them to default in itunes.
  21. QUOTE (Kid Gleason @ Oct 22, 2009 -> 08:51 AM) I have a Blackberry Curve for my phone, and one of the things that irritates the heck out of me is the extreme lack of apps. They have them, but nowhere near as many as the iPhone and Touch. It also seems that all new app builders are only going with the Apple units. Even though there is the BB Storm out there, which is a touch screen and should therefore be easy enough to create apps for both it and the Apple devices, companies still only shoot for the Apple. I say this because if apps are something you are looking into, I would say you shouldn't even think of anything other than the iTouch right now. Supposedly the Blackberry is the number 1 selling smart phone, and if app builders aren't even considering that one really, then the Zune will be a LONG time coming with getting any decent apps. My wife has an iTouch (oh...the puns that could be done with that...), and I have to say I love the dang thing. So much so that even though I do have my Curve, I am still entertaining thoughts of getting myself a Touch. The apps are plenty, and the thing is so easy to use in its natural form. Just like an iPod, you realize very quickly why they are so popular. Even if you have never used one, you know instantly what to do with it. It is a perfect creature of "common sense". As for jailbreaking, my wifes is jailbroken. A guy here at my office did it, then handed it to us and said "now...you will need to take care of the rest". Which means there are numerous aspects of it that have NOT been finished. So unless you are a techy kind of person who plans to stay on top of the jailbreak, I say don't do it. If this was MY iTouch, I would have no problems with the updates or finishing the jailbreak. But my wife is NOT a techy person, so her jailbreak is a little pointless, and in need of updating. But between the two devices you are considering...I say do the iTouch. When I got my phone I didnt have any idea how to jailbreak or unlock it and I did it in 10 minutes following a video on you tube. I also havent done anything to maintain the jailbreak (except not update to 3.1 firmware) You can use it as a modem, get all the apps for free, get free movies, customize it with themes very easily. I havent had any problems.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 21, 2009 -> 08:39 AM) Whats comical is that, apparently, you managed to find the one judge who belongs in a sitcom. Seriously, I've never heard or seen such a thing as a judge giving worse penalties or the like because you plead not guilty. I'm sure it exists, but, its got to be a very small minority. Read the other posts here - people get out of tickets all the time, on all sorts of excuses. And yes, you usually do get to explain your side, because if you couldn't, then the ticket itself would be illegal. You cant go up to a judge and tell him an excuse without pleading not guilty and trying to do so will piss them off. The easier you make it on them the easier they make it on you. This is honestly some of the worst advice Ive seen given in this forum going on in this thread. The fine will be like $100 and there will be minimal court supervision. Its ridiculous to think the judge might just throw it out if you go up there and tell him your speedometer is broken. He saw the cops radar, whether its bulls*** to get a ticket for 4 over or not the cop proved that he was speeding to him when he showed it to him. Also, if you try and say the radar was broken you are taking the burden of proof off of them, because youre admitting the radar said you were speeding, and putting it on you to explain the gun was broken. Theyre not going to take your word for it. They also arent going to "throw it out" and charge you court cost, because you dont pay court cost if you are innocent. This isnt from a lifetime spent in traffic court either, this is common sense. Anytime a judge throws a charge out it is normally because it is lumped with other charges as well. There is a room full of people and several of them were charged with the same thing. You think they will magically throw it out with 10+ people waiting to be called that have the same ticket? The cop was a jagoff, you have to miss work for going 4 over and it sucks and its gonna cost you some money but the punishment is so minimal trying to pull a My Cousin Vinny is a waste of time/money and wont work.

    eBay

I used to sell stuff and amazon and they had a policy (Im not making this up) that if someone claimed what they ordered isnt what you shipped them then they would immediately refund the money and made no attempt to try and have them return the item.
  24. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Oct 21, 2009 -> 10:17 PM) So Ive been thinking about splurging a bit and buying one of these mp3 players(I have verizon so cant get the iphone). I want something that not only plays music but also games and videos. I feel like with all the apps the ipod has the advantage for what Im looking for but Ive heard great things about the Zune HD and thay Microsoft is committed to expanding their app department and should be able to do so relatively easily especially in games. Im looking for something that I can play hulu on or watch shows for free and movies/shows on the road. Any experiences or comments are welcome, but please no "____ sucks balls" without backing it up, or "apple sucks, they're the man trying to take you over." Comments or experiences with other mp3 players are cool too. I have an iphone and I would recommend the touch because you can jailbreak it and do a lot of stuff with it. Ive never used a zoon but IMO iphone/ipod cant be touched right now, and I am normally an anti apple customer.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 16, 2009 -> 08:58 AM) Apparently you had some issues in Addison with tickets (which you seem to have gotten a lot of). But your experience is not my experience, at all. They throw out stuff all the time, though you may have to still pay court costs in some cases, or go on probation/supervision. And giving a reason why the ticket is wrong will not make things worse on you, that I have ever seen. I havent gotten a moving violation since I was 16 and Ive gotten a few bs things like front plate. Addison is where one of the courthouses is and a lot of west suburban traffic cases go there. One of my friends has worked there for a few years and has seen everything you could imagine in there. Another one of my friends brother in law is a defense attorney and does a lot of cases there as well. If you walk up to the judge and say anything but guilty or not guilty they will ask you again or tell you to wait for after the cases are called. Also, if you are saying going up there and saying why the ticket is wrong with out pleading not guilty is A. not going to make things worse for you or B. going to do anything to help than that is comically wrong. This isnt a sitcom, they dont let people explain anything before pleading not guilty.
