  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 09:08 PM) How could this happen with salary he makes?!? What about the economic devastation?!? Because there is 0.0% chance of Boston letting him go. That and Papelbon isn't a washed up, overpaid drama queen like Manny is.
  2. American League Team Claims Papelbon
  3. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:59 PM) What is our time frame here? Out of all 30 teams, average attendance is down by 300 people per game, and we haven't even hit the chases yet. Big whoop. 13 clubs attendance have actually gone higher. $10.00 ticket nights will inflat the numbers, about 15-20 team do it. Revenues aren't there.
  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:57 PM) And that's great. No one is disputing that he has a source. What is obnoxious is when he insists on things like we should no longer have discussions because he is Jesus or Scott Boras. He has been jumping up and down for 3 days now insisting we should just stop typing and bow down and thank him for bringing his wisdom to the table. If I recall, your the one that jumped down my throat for making a general statement and didn't give any opinion to it when I gave numerous times before.
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:54 PM) Read my posts. I'm of the opinion we wil claim Manny. I believe so as well, it us or he goes unclaimed. Many teams won't touch Manny with a 10 ft pole.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:53 PM) You say that as though the empty stadiums in places like Pittsburgh, KC, Cleveland, Florida, Oakland, and Toronto are anything new. Only team drawing decent crowds are New York and Philadelphia or when Strasburg is on the mound. Attendance is down across the board. Look it up.
  7. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:52 PM) You are on crack. Start typing your formal apology when I am right.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:51 PM) What you had is a bunch of obvious generalities that you've been jumping up and down flapping your gums about. Let me guess, you know we inquired about Luke Scott too? If he had, I would of said. If and when Manny goes unclaimed or is claimed by the White Sox, I want a formal apology for all the garbage your talking.
  9. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:47 PM) Oh not this again...you and your obsession with money...do you realize the owners of baseball teams have access to all sorts of credit lines and loans etc? I cannot understand how you can possibly view the finances of a MLB team as some cookie jar that is either empty or is not.. It's all about money.....trust me. Look around, many, many empty stadiums.
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:48 PM) My godparents in Italy knew the white sox were hot after Dunn. Gmafb. Yet I had it before any media member. I had Berkman before any media member. My source is top notch.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:43 PM) I agree. If teams have $6-7 million to spend on a loose cannon, despite his talent, for a third of the season they have a lot of explaining to do. If the Sox were willing to pay that much they wouldn't have screwed around with their lowball offer. Manny can hit, but there's some question marks. Attitude, health, both getting healthy and staying healthy, and while he's been good since his PED bust, he's certainly not what he was. I can't see the White Sox pay a guy that kind of money for 50 games to DH when they wouldn't give others that for an entire season. Manny has good numbers in limited ABs but certainly not eye popping. This. Phillies sources feel that Manny would clear for sure. Same source that said Oswalt would be a Phillie when St. Louis was the favorite, same source that said White Sox were hot after Dunn before it was reported by media, and said they shifted to Berkman before any media reported. Search my posts and you'll find it.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:42 PM) $6 million is NOT a monster salary. Yes, lots of teams have financial restrictions. A lot of those same teams took on salary at the deadline (Dodgers, Rangers, Phillies, White Sox, Yankees, etc.). How many times does KW cry poor right before adding salary? If you think a $6 million salary is the difference between winning a pennant and missing the playoffs, you'll pick that guy up in a second. The added ticket sales will cover it easily. $6 million + plus the Manny circus isn't worth it if he doesn't want to play there.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:41 PM) For 1.5 months in a pennant race, that's how any team needing a bat (and even better, a bat that can be stuck at corner OF) will look at it. Over Torres, Rowand, Huff? Besides, Giants will claim Dunn.
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:40 PM) Bat = Manny. At least this is how we all see it. Manny is not going to the Giants. I'd bet my house on it, I know it as fact.
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:38 PM) Economy and money are the same things. Your reasoning is a bit overly simplistic, don't you think? Don't believe everything you see on tv. No teams took on monster salaries. The baseball sources I have with the Phillies say it's across the league.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 07:42 PM) IF the price is $6-$7 million, then the Giants will claim him if he gets that far. Again, why? Where is he going to play? They need a bat, they don't need Mannywood.
  17. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 07:20 PM) I hate these bs posts. I sat here and watched Steve759465037 tell me for a month that we should listen to him, that LeBron would never go play with Dwayne Wade, like he had some sort of inside info we were supposed to believe. If you're going to continually voice your opinion on something, please tell us why. Give reasons. Make an argument. State your position. What is the point of popping in these threads and posting things like that as if you are Scott Boras and we are just supposed to believe you or something? I told you why! Economy and $$$$ No one is going to claim him with the fear of the Dodgers giving Manny away to save money. Multiple GM's said money is an issue on MLB Network the last week of July on all they're trade shows. It is the real deal, i've said it in 5 posts already in the this thread. I've statement my opinion in all of those threads. And if you didn't know LeBrun was going to play for Miami, then shame on you. It was a done deal 6 months ago.
  18. Can we make a team rule, if your not batting .225 or higher, your not getting playing time. That means no more .217 Mark Kotsay and more .202 Andruw Jones
  19. I missed Paulie's homer because the MLB Network showed A-Fraud pop out...I'm f***ing pissed!
  20. Like I said earlier, no one is going to claim him.
  21. As soon as we blew them out in Game 1, I knew we would play like ass tonight.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 05:17 PM) Why would he not want to? Because according to the source above, he only wants Chicago.
