  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 05:09 PM) If Manny is only due about $6 million for the last couple months and the Dodgers have already put away most of the deferred money, then I could totally see the Giants claiming him. They were trying everything they could to get a bat without having to give up Baumgartner and Sanchez, and that would be exactly what they'd have the chance to do. What's the point if Manny won't play there.
  2. No one going to claim Manny for fear that they Dodgers will simply say take him and that team will have to eat the money. The current economy is playing a major factor into teams blocking players for fear of being handed big money contracts.
  3. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 08:59 PM) There's seriously no reason for someone like Luke Scott to clear waivers. In this economy, teams are less likely to claim players just to block other teams in fear of the other team saying take the contract like Alex Rios. This was mentioned at length on the MLB Network all last week with quotes from GM's. It happens less then you think. He doesn't have to clear waivers, just fall to the White Sox.
  4. QUOTE (sircaffey @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 08:07 PM) People do understand this. People also understand that having a bat for 2 months and not just 1 would have been a smidge more helpful in the division race. We aren't the Yankees stocking up for the playoffs. Most teams aren't in sell mode when there is a wild card race going on (mostly in the NL). More and more teams will be dropping out of the race in the next 30 days. The bats we have now need to produce like they are capable of doing. I wasn't willing to overpay the likes of Beckham, etc, for a 2 month rental on a bat. Patience.
  5. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 08:05 PM) You need to stop acting like picking up a impact bat on waivers is easy. As of this moment, the White Sox are the 5th best team in the AL. That would mean they would be 25th in the waiver order for somebody like Manny. It's not going to be that easy. I didn't say it's going to be simple, but it's going to happen. And I'll be bumping everyone thread about them crying about the trade deadline when it's the unofficial trade deadline. More and more teams will fallout of contention in the next 30 days. Impact bats like Luke Scott, etc, will be available. Cry after August 30th if we don't do anything.
  6. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 09:45 PM) I can't argue with any of that. We failed to address our most pressing need. Hold your failure comments until after August 30th please. Why can't people understand this? They're going to get a bat, they have 1 month to do so. Relax people.
  7. AL vs. NL. Hitters park vs. Pitchers park. Let's all relax a bit before putting Hudson in the Hall of Fame.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 12:31 PM) I'm sorry. But when you say Jackson has won 26 more games over the last three years than Hudson you're just begging to get criticized. All it is proving is that Jackson is more of a reliable pitcher then Hudson at this time.
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 08:15 AM) Indeed. Kenny failed to get us the bat we needed and we won't be getting it this year. Please explain this logic to me.
  10. In this economy, teams are going to be less likely to pick guys off waivers in fear of taking on the rest of the contract.
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 03:24 PM) I am happy. But our paper thin system really bit us in the ass. Old School KW would of traded Beckham today.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 03:23 PM) lol@waiver wire trades. That's for overpaid underachievers who teams are trying to dump. Alex Rios.
  13. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 03:20 PM) If Scott or Laroche could have been had for cheap it would have already happened so you're making no sense. And the only chance we have to get Laroche now is if the DBacks literally want nothing in return which just isn't the case. Do you understand how waivers works? Most likely it will be for a PTBNL with prospects going later on.
  14. Sox are done, they'll grab a bat on the waiver wire, let it go.
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 03:17 PM) "You can easily grab a Luke Scott, Adam LaRoche for giving up next to nothing." Did you mean to say we could've easily gotten one of Scott/LaRoche for next to nothing? That obviously isn't the case. Waiver Wire Trades. August 30th. Understand now?
  16. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 03:15 PM) More info 670 sayingDunn deal may be done they have been working on it for last 20minutes Let it go.
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 03:14 PM) Because Edwin Jackson sucks, costs a lot of money, and doesn't fill that need with the way he's pitching right now. When will people understand that money isn't an issue. Every time someone complains about money, the White Sox add more payroll.
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 03:14 PM) Huh? Do you not understand English?
  19. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 03:09 PM) The Edwin Jackson trade now makes very little sense. Bad, bad deadline for KW assuming we indeed did nothing today. No Jake Peavy = need for starting pitching. How is this so hard to comprehend?
  20. We needed pitching before a bat ever since Peavy went down. You can easily grab a Luke Scott, Adam LaRoche for giving up next to nothing.
  21. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 03:08 PM) August is for overpaid/underperforming/injured players to the dumped or dealt for low level guys. Fun. You can easily grab a Luke Scott, LaRoche that way.
  22. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 03:06 PM) I never want to hear "Don't worry, good ol' Kenny will get us what we need at the deadline" ever again. August 30th is the deadline. Why can't people f***ing understand this? We needed pitching before at bat when Peavy went donw.
  23. QUOTE (Mattchoo @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 03:02 PM) if hudson and holmberg for jackson was the only move this trade deadline... that is a total failure in my opinion. Why? There's still another month.
  24. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 03:04 PM) Well, I'm pretty disappointed. Why? Theres still another month.
  25. No big deal, the real trade deadline is August 30th.
