  1. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) That thread is pretty damn funny. that's why i started it!
  2. people are always going to be jealous when you are #1. it's just a fact of life. the cubs aren't going to be winning anything anytime soon...he needs to accept that fact.
  3. QUOTE(ISF @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 01:27 PM) In the true spirit of this topic, anyone who thought replacing Pornstache with Uribe was a bad idea should also be banned. Anybody who thought not signing Ordonez was terrible should be banned. And anyone who thought trading Carlos Lee for Pantywaist was stupid should be banned. Now that we've set up the rules, when should we close down SoxTalk? relax. you are misinterpreting the spirit of this topic. the spirit is either eat crow or don't. it's that simple.
  4. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 01:18 PM) um yeah, when the guy was hitting .235 over the course of the past two seasons and committing errors during the regular season, i wanted to get rid of him. of course, he has endeered himself into my heart forever, now. however, anyone who was happy with their play is an idiot. BTW, with under 300 career posts, it doesnt look like you had much to say on any subjects, bighurt2719. typical that some people got to take things all personal when all you have to do is admit you are wrong. why dont you go punch a pillow or have a drink, pal? i said in this origonal post that im not trying to piss anyone off. the point isnt that crede had a low average for the past couple of seasons combined. im talking about advocating a trade for vinny castilla using crede. crede could have been worse than that average-wise and made more errors than he did and it would still be a horrible trade. and as far as me not having that many posts, who cares? not that it's any of your business, but i've been reading the site for the past two seasons but never joined until this season. "well...i'm a senior and you're a freshman...haha!" just because i have less posts than you doesnt make my point or your support of a trade for vinny castilla any less valid!
  5. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 01:04 PM) Uh, I think sox-r-us was the main Vinny Castilla apologist. BOW down now, Vinny Castilla sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone who advocated trading Crede to get that turd should be banned. I can proudly say I never gave up on Crede, even though I got pissed at him a lot, I always believed in Joe. yeah, where's sox-r-us?? i just want to see his acknowledgment of his advocating that trade. there were some others too, i think ozuna wanted to get castilla too.
  6. ok, im not trying to push anyone's buttons, but i think it would be funny if all the people who said during the season we should trade joe crede for vinny castilla or joe randa step forward and eat some crow. i'm proud to say that i never waivered all season. let's see who's humble enough to eat crow...
  7. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 11:53 AM) Beltran is a better all around player than PK BS. beltran's an outfeilder, PK's an infeilder. PK's performance this year in general has shown that he's way more valuable than beltran. i'll wager that you were one of those people who at the all star break was screaming that we should trade joe crede for vinny castilla or randa. dont take offense, im not trying to insult you. just my inclination.
  8. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 10:43 AM) Thanks Jim! Once again a classy post from you. We've all enjoyed getting some additional insight on the Twins and what not, so here's hoping you stick around for seasons to come. you forgot to add "and we continue to finish ahead of you for years to come"
  9. i don't care what the hell damon does as long as he stays out of the south side.
  10. at a bar in east lansing off michigan state's campus, double-fisting gin and tonics until we got kicked out. i literally couldn't walk home that night. i would do it all again the same too!
  11. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 08:18 AM) You also have to remember that injuries killed the Twins this year. They're not as bad as the record idicated. yeah but i hate the twins with every bone in my body.
  12. QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Oct 29, 2005 -> 06:56 PM) The guy yelling "Dick Allen emancipated the White Sox! We wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for him..." and then he kept comparing him to Christopher Columbus. Even the black people around me rolled their eyes, just enjoy the parade rather than trying to grab attention haha! different strokes, different folks, i guess. that's great!
  13. that's pretty good carving, man. my hat's off to you.
  14. that's nice of him to compliment the sox and give joe some credit. he deserves tons of it- i thought he was a close, close second to dye for MVP.
  15. you all give the twinkies too much credit. clubs rise and fall, we all know this. i think the twins had their time in the sun and are on the downslope. the tribe are coming up; that's who we really have to worry about for next year. the twins finished .500 this season. either they completely gave up at some point, or this is an indication of their team potential. i'm inclined to think it's the latter.
  16. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Oct 29, 2005 -> 01:01 PM) Because we won and are in the consciousness, we will be mentioned in SO many deals that we have nothing to do with. good point. but it's still fun to give approvals and disapprovals to every rumor, isn't it? if we trade for manny ramirez, that would sink our team. he's the laziest outfeilder in the game, and in my humble opinion, a BUM. i would take this one with a grain of salt. KW and JR would have to suddenly develop down syndrome to even think about this one for more than one second.
  17. I personally think SI is a bad magazine, but the book is cool...i might buy it
  18. QUOTE(Luke_Sox @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 06:56 AM) Hi! I'm pretty new on the game of Baseball so i have some questions i need to ask. I know all about how u play the game, so my questions aren't really about the game. 1. What's the thing they have on the bats? you know the cylinder shaped thing? what's the uese of it? 2. Does everyone have to have a cap on the head? since everone wearing it including the coach. Or is it just some PR thing? 3. How many times is a Bat used? how often do they change, if it's not broken. 4. How much does a ticket cost to "The Cell" ? Thx! Win Or Die Trying! wow...you must be a foreigner. where are you from? is this serious? no offense intended.
  19. QUOTE(TLAK @ Oct 29, 2005 -> 11:11 AM) Reading the post mortems on the season, or listening to the radio, would lead you to think that NOBODY expected anything out of this team after the off season moves. Actually the core fans were pretty optimistic, and had sound reasons for it. Read this thread that Beck started 8 months ago. Many of the posts are absolutely prescient. Several ones about players and the style of play came true. Texsox called Shingo’s departure months before it happened. Juggernaut predicted 128 SB, they came in with 137. Nuke’s comments about the top of the order, starting pitching and fundamentals sound as if they were written today. There are some smart baseball guys on this message board. i was extremely optomistic all year, and expected a world series (disclaimer: i expect a world series every year). even if we had lost to the bosox or the 'stros i would have been proud though. destiny didn't see it that way though!!
  20. QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 07:49 AM) Is always great when a team is winning. It's all Barney videos and huggy feely when the team is winning. I think we may over emphasize how well this team got along. It may be 50% the great regular season start and 50% the actual players involved. Early on, if some of those bounces go another way, and the team doesn't get off to a lead in 37 straight games, we may not be talking so much about chemistry. In other words, it's a cycle that feeds itself. sure.
  21. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 29, 2005 -> 02:28 PM) See: Carlos Beltran a little insulting to PK to compare him to Beltran, don't you think?
  22. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 29, 2005 -> 12:40 PM) Exactly. The Red Sox made the changes, contended for their division until the final weekend, until evenutally bowing to the Yankees and taking the Wild Card. Of course, it wasn't meant to be in the playoffs when they ran into a team destined to win it all. Still beat the pants off of 8 games below .500 and finishing 19 games back. are you inferring that the bosox were better than anaheim this year?
  23. lets get another one next year! the yankees dont have s*** on us! i see a southside dynasty!
  24. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 29, 2005 -> 12:32 PM) See: 2003 Angels i know what you mean, but look at the angels. i think that if we hadnt won it, anaheim would have. they were the best team we played in the playoffs (and the only one to win a single game against us). they have made the playoffs for years now and have made LA an angel town, not a dodger town like it used to be. they have a great club still, just like they did in '03. maybe it's just me, but i see years and years of good baseball coming from the southside if we can hold on to all these players.
  25. why all this discussion about damn? he's a bum, bottom line. doesnt belong in a chisox world series winner jersey. and he used to juice, so i have to hold that against him. damn = damon
