  1. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 01:01 AM) Exaggerate much? Says who? They won the World Series with him sitting on his ass for all but 1 month of the year. Why would the Sox need him? I think you bring him back as a very high reward, low-medium risk type player. He comes back at 80% and can stay healthy, and he's probably a .260 30 80 .925 type player. You take that offensive production for $6-8 mill a year, and the Sox would probably be getting it for $3-5 mill. Of course, you'd also be expecting defense, and the next and only time Frank should put a glove on is when he's playing catch with his kids. stop crunching numbers for once and just admit that frank is a part of the white sox. i just think it would be a shame for him to play somewhere else.
  2. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 11:46 PM) Funny how 40HR's/100RBI's suddenly looks a little more valuable than a mid-range BA/RISP eh? your stats mean nothing to me. we need kong next season, bottom line.
  3. when you know you are qualified for the job, you can say whatever you want. one thing is for sure, ozzie is no yes-man
  4. QUOTE(ptatc @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 09:09 PM) I would doubt that. I think they are going to wait until they receive more medical reports on the foot. That second separate fracture in the navicular is a cause for concern. anyone else and i'd agree with you. however, this is the big hurt we are talking about. half of his at bats this past season were home runs. and all chisox fans must love frank. we need him back til he retires.
  5. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 06:03 PM) So basically Frank will get bought out at what, 3.5 million? Then re-negotiate another contract, probably with the White Sox, which will probably go from 2-3 million with incentives. So Frank stands to make around 4.5-6.5 million in the next year from the Sox if he re-signs even though his contract will state otherwise? Does the buyout count against this year or next years payroll? who cares? we have the big hurt back, and that makes me very happy.
  6. QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 11:30 AM) Doesn't AB have all the offensive Sox season records that Frank doesn't? IIRC he had a monster year in a Sox uniform. exactly. one monster year. not worth the contract.
  7. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 11:01 AM) If he takes the max deal that a team will offer, he's going to be gone. Some team will be foolish enough IMO to offer the full 7 years he is seeking. yeah i agree
  8. sure. any news on him leaving for CA officially
  9. QUOTE(drowninginflame @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 11:09 PM) I know you'll all hate me for it, but I would love Manny. me too, i would love to have the worst outfeilder in the game except for bonds. how many k's did he have this year
  10. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 12:14 AM) Anyways Marte - gone El Duque - pen Frank - DH/DL Willie Harris - gone LOL Manny - Anaheim(hopefully) el duque in the pen? i dont know, thats a lot of money for a set up guy, since we got such a great pen already.
  11. i would love if the tribune threw their millions at manny. that team would go nowhere. even if they dont get ramirez they arent doing anything next year.
  12. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 09:14 PM) I love this, I really do. Timo's .220 average with RISP just oozes "Clutchiness". hey, if i knew how to make the letters green, i would. i know what you are saying.
  13. QUOTE(3E8 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 07:59 PM) Not even this? maddux and lee get gold gloves...damn, you are right. that about pisses me off the most.
  14. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 09:10 PM) Does a Green Beret have splits of .218/.266/.296 for $1,000,000? no but green berets hit bloop singles in the clutch and when they play first base it makes me laugh out loud
  15. timo is like the green beret of the white sox
  16. QUOTE(beck72 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 08:33 PM) If KW liked the team chemistry in 2005, what makes you think he'll mess with it in 2006 by trading away a Rowand, Uribe or Crede? I'll stand by my prediction that no sox regular will be traded. That's not "Xbox" thinking--it's "why mess with a good thing?"
  17. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 08:12 PM) Is Ozuna a FA? Cas if he is, I want him back. Timo too. i love timo. sign him back!
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 08:58 PM) I'm just going to sit here in my chair in an academic building and pray that you're not genuinely being serious, and that you realize the irony in that statement. well, you know what they say...those who can't do, teach. i would put that in green because im joking but i dont know how
  19. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 05:37 PM) Okay, so make it Rowand and Marte for Chad Tracy. I would think that Tracy, who has the potential to be a legit #3 power-hitter, is worth more than Rowand and Marte especially to us since a #3 hitter is the main hole in our lineup. The Diamondbacks would definately be interested in Marte since they had the worst bullpen in baseball this year. Luis Terrero stinks so Rowand could replace him in center field. The Diamondbacks could then trade either Luis Gonzalez or Shawn Green to make room for Carlos Quentin in the outfield. Brian Anderson has to play sooner or later and he would replace Rowand in center field. A guy like Mike Myers could replace Marte in our bullpen. All in all, it sounds like a great trade to me. you need to be more conservative. trading away a great center feilder and a shaky (not even shaky all the time) reliever for a prospect is rarely ever a good move.
  20. why do academics have to hate? i cant stand them
  21. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 03:53 PM) White Sox own the Tribe though, and that ain't changin! i agree. it's a tradition that i dont see changing anytime soon.
  22. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) Thats called hope. Hope that one time I will read a post that you write and I will be impressed by what I read, and not find a moronic thread about who ESPN is going to blow next. As of now, I only get dissapointment. ha, i hope that felt good. i hate espn. so i'll slam on them all i want. if you hate this topic, start your own or dont come to this topic. say hi to your best friends tim kurkjan, peter gammons, and jeff brantley for me. those guys are awesome!
  23. the tribe? c'mon! man, espn never says die. that said, i think the sox and tribe should simply be switched around in those rankings. besides that, all the rankings look good to me, especially all the other AL central teams. twins #14...haha!
  24. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 01:52 PM) I don't see the Phillies trading Howard, but I could see them trading Thome. And after the beat downs he put on the Sox for years, I could see the Sox being interested in him if there were some money put up by the Phils. With a new GM, they are going to be interested in makes some moves and putting a new stamp on that team. in case you forgot... THOME = BUM
