  1. QUOTE (max power @ Apr 30, 2008 -> 08:26 PM) Are you talking about this year or career or who is the better player right now? Its hard to compare with all the bums pitching in the NL central. Highly subjective. We have faced some pretty lousy pitchers as well, but our offense does not capitalize. Give the Cubs credit for what their offense is doing , we need to get it going.
  2. Left is what we can claim as of right now. Johnson their center fielder has been doing a great job, catcher goes to the Rook Soto has 20+ rbis . But hey we are still up there in OPS... what a joke.
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 30, 2008 -> 05:29 PM) Thome hasn't hit period yet; he's not going to hit .220 all season. I wouldn't complain about the offense right now because I'm still much more concerned about the pitching. Floyd looks like he's ready to fall apart any outing now and I don't know how much confidence you can have in Contreras. I'm content with Buehrle and very happy with Vazquez and Danks. I'm also not worried about the bullpen either - I think it has a chance to be a top 5 unit in the AL. And I think the offense will come around - I don't see any way the Sox will have 5 hitters with a sub .230 average. Two, surely I can see that - not more than half the lineup though. I'd say back away from the ledge until atleast June, and then we'll have a real good grasp of how good this team is. If we are going on facts, Mark has the worst WHIP of all our starters.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 30, 2008 -> 03:26 PM) That'll happen in sub 40 degree weather with rain 6 hour games and impromptu double headers. I think we come back strong against Toronto Those are facts? seems like an opinion to me.
  5. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 30, 2008 -> 03:21 PM) Once again false, they are tops in the MLB in batting avg with RISP. 5 for their last 42 is so clutch.
  6. Bottom line their number 3 guy got the key hit, even though he has a lower OPS than our number 3 and 4 guys... how is that possible?
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 30, 2008 -> 03:29 PM) Because he cant hit, not because he's not fast. You dont get on first base by winning a sprinting contest. Really?
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 30, 2008 -> 03:19 PM) So if they could steal bases we wouldnt have flown or struck out? How about the speedy Twins? How many did THEY leave on base today? That doesnt back your great OPS we have.
  9. QUOTE (rangercal @ Apr 30, 2008 -> 02:14 PM) Are you kidding me? Surely this is sarcasm. Nobody won the trade YET. If anyone did, it sure as hell was not the Angels with Garland's April. Keep reading. Yes it was sarcasm.
  10. QUOTE (CWSOX45 @ Apr 30, 2008 -> 02:17 PM) Totally unrelated....but I can't wait until they implode this piece of **** stadium. LOL, good call.
  11. QUOTE (WSoxMatt @ Apr 30, 2008 -> 02:10 PM) you can have his 5.94 ERA, 1.74 WHIP with 12 BB and 9 Ks Referring to him being out there once every 5 games and us dealing with it every day.
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 30, 2008 -> 02:06 PM) Well at least the Angels have a crappy player on the field once every 5 days. Cabrera is out there every day for us. Angels win that trade. When that trade was first made it made no sense to me.
  13. QUOTE (shawnhillegas @ Apr 30, 2008 -> 02:02 PM) Edgar is off to a great start. He is a proven player and notably in the clutch, Orlando has been riding coat tails.
  14. Why couldn't we get Edgar instead of this pile of crap.
  15. Only reason I have Swisher at the 2 spot is because if he bats 4th, we still have no #2 hitter. Until we get one , then he can protect Quentin or vice versa.
  16. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 30, 2008 -> 01:36 PM) With his ability to take pitches, and make adjustments I would pencil him in for future 3 hole hitter. This is the type of guy that could be a monster in the 3 hole. Agreed, but he would need a nice bat to protect him at the 4th spot. I actually think Swisher at the 2 hole is better suited for him, with Quentin behind him then Thome.
  17. Gore had more votes than Busch and still lost... actual fact. Busch must of had a higher OPS.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 29, 2008 -> 09:47 PM) Well if you used actual facts instead of your opinion it would make more sense. What is your fact trying to state? That with our pitching and the OPS we hold, we should breeze into the fall classic?
  19. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Apr 29, 2008 -> 09:44 PM) i forgot, your "expert" opinion is the only one who matters here.. sorry. If you can call it that, hey he has an OPS degree .
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 29, 2008 -> 09:40 PM) Yeah, who needs numbers for evidence, lets just examine a close loss for all the data we need...... You and your OPS, now if we had a Manny like hitter at the number 3 or 4 hole than yes, you can argue that this offense is one of the best. Damn OPS has not done crap the last 2 games, but hey, were an offensive juggernaut.
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 29, 2008 -> 09:37 PM) You gave one of the best offenses in baseball an average rating. Its not harsh, just stupid. That comment alone is stupid. I dont call this offense one of the best, dont be fooled by the early numbers, just look at what you are watching.
