  1. Jay Johnstone and Jerry Janeski used to play for the White Sox.
  2. Right now I don't think Linebrink would fare too well at the Little League World Series.
  3. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 03:17 PM) it's too late to sweep - we lost the first 3. Can you say swept?
  4. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 03:11 PM) and the Cubs just lost 2/3 to the Nationals... so it's a bad start to that "easy" home schedule that was going to propell them back into the race!! Oh noooooooooo! It's sad that this season has become so dismal that I'm back to checking out how bad the Cubs are.
  5. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 02:19 PM) I think Dye is gone for sure. Why would you want to trade Konerko? I think Konerko is having a pretty decent year and he could still play a pretty good 1B. It wouldn't make sense to let Konerko go now. Thome i'm 50-50 on. I hope Dye is gone. Konerko I'm kinda wishy washy on. I would want someone really good to replace him, otherwise, forget it...keep him. Thome, as much as I like the guy and have loved having him slugging homers for the Sox, I want him gone for I think, the betterment of the team.
  6. Great idea! How about we discuss avocados?
  7. Twice. McGovern and Obama. How many times have you left a baseball game before the final out was recorded? I have a little story about that. I've only left a game once before the game was actually over. Once back in the 60's I went to a Sox-Tigers game and the Sox were up big. I left maybe in the 8th inning. I lived in Elmhurst at the time and when I got home the Sox were batting in the bottom of the 9th and losing (they lost). The Tigers had a huge 9th. It gave me a very weird feeling because I left thinking I had seen the Sox win.
  8. Woah. I've voted in 11 elections, always Democratically so. Curious about others, so I'll keep the question open. How many times have you voted in a Presidential race? Bonus for Chicago voters; how many times in the same race?
  9. I googled "fired hitting coach" "Struggling to score, the Indians made a major change following yesterday's 6-5 loss to the White Sox -- they fired hitting coach Eddie Murray, a Hall of Famer who was in his fourth year in the position ". "The Mariners' prolonged slump took its first major victim Monday when hitting coach Jeff Pentland was fired and replaced by Lee Elia." "The Chicago Cubs fired hitting coach Gerald Perry after 2½ seasons on Sunday in an attempt to spark a sputtering offense." "The Padres have fired first-year hitting coach Jim Lefebvre. The Padres rank last in MLB in runs and batting average . ..." "The Mets, seeking to inject some life into a struggling offense, have fired their hitting coach." "The Philadelphia Phillies fired hitting coach Richie Hebner on Monday, while keeping five other coaches for the 2002 season. Greg Gross, manager Larry Bowa's bench coach, replaces Hebner. The team will hire a new bench coach. The Phillies tied for ninth in the National League in team batting average. " It's what teams do when the hitters aren't hitting. Walker should go.
  10. Back before Balta began beating black bears, BigSqwert began bowling basketballs behind billboards.
  11. Exactly who are these charlatans who want this thread stopped anyway?
  12. You bet your sweet uvula, it would!
  13. Very disgusting image in my head right now.
  14. Raccoon perhaps? Damn. I'm always skipping Q! Of course Tex skipped three letters, but hey he invented this frickin' game.
  15. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 10:59 AM) I had an epic run at a crap table in August 05, I have that same feeling starting this thread. Right on. GO WHITE SOX!!! The winning starts NOW!
  16. Ya didn't even mention xylophones!
  17. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 02:07 AM) Happy Birthday!
  18. I'm in so far as I'm still rooting and hoping. I'm out so far as thinking the Sox can actually take the division. So I guess that just leaves me confused and frustrated. Very frustrated.
  19. Oh nooooo. The Cubs didn't get pounded by Washington, did they? Oh noooooo!
