1) What format you prefer playing: Head to Head (though I'd like a Roto team too if I can be in 2 leagues) 2) Your relative level of experience: Experienced enough. I welcome the chance to play in a league where EVERYONE sets their lineups. 3) Your league preference: Yeah. 4) Whether or not you are willing to be a league commisioner (especially for people that have done it in the past and/or veteran players/posters): I've never been a Commish and would prefer to keep it that way but if there's desperation for Commissioners I guess I'd give it a whirl.

In August 1962. The Sox and Early Wynn lost to Jim Kaat and the Twins 2-0. I think Wynn was going for career win #299 that night, if memory serves me correct. I remember Lenny Green the Twins CF making an outstanding diving catch. I also remember the Sox outhitting the Twins something like 9-4, but lotsa DPs killed the Sox that night. I remember being in awe of the ballpark, having only seen it previously on B&W TV.

Wow! I was really surprised when I saw this thread because I had no idea he was still alive. Pretty cool that he lived so long. He was a mighty fine pitching coach. RIP.

Another great live album I forgot about was J Geils "Full House". And I have to mention what was a personal favorite back in the day, Savoy Brown's "A Step Further", which wasn't a live album but had one studio side and one live side. The live side was the 20 minute "Savoy Brown Boogie"....killer. Then too, there was MC5's "Kick Out The Jams".

The Allman Brothers Live at Fillmore East was a great "live" album. Humble Pie's Rockin' The Fillmore was great, too. For me, Spencer Davis Groups Greatest Hits was better than any of their prior albums because their albums contained some filler junk. The same could be said for most groups of that era I guess.

I always thought that I was a Sox fan because of my dad. Truth is my dad wasn't that avid a fan until I came along and went crazy for the Sox. Actually his dad was an avid Cubs fan, but he died before I was born. I had a little speech problem when I was really little and my parents used to say that the first thing I ever said that they actually could understand was "Louie Aparicio". Growing up I worshipped Little Louie. I've always loved the Sox and hated the Cubs. I don't think anyone influenced that it just seemed natural and the only way to be.

The Arnie Munoz game in Montreal. It was so painful to watch Munoz give up hit after hit and run after run. After his dreadful 3 innings the Sox were down 11-1, only to come back but fall short in the end, losing 17-14. A DUMB game.

I was looking at Konerko's career stats and was startled to see that he hasn't been caught stealing since '98 when he was with the Dodgers. With the Sox, he has 5 stolen bases in 5 tries!

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 30, 2006 -> 08:57 AM) How about the first one in the second row, Ed? That one's stumping me and I know I know it. Nope. That one doesn't ring any bells, but there are several that I know I should know.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 29, 2006 -> 10:54 AM) I got 32 or them the first go-round, and there's at least 6 more of them that are on the tip of my brain. Anybody besides me get the fourth one in the top row? I only got 17 of them but the fourth one in the top row was one of 'em.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Dec 17, 2006 -> 03:18 AM) Tang. Or Fluff. Do grocery stores still sell either of these items? Tang is still around and a huge seller overseas. Did you know that there have been about 30 different flavors of Tang?

QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 11:09 AM) I've been doing a bunch of work that requires internet research and being on the computer so I have a chance to post a little. Is it getting cold up your way? Too cold. I thought they had mild winters here. I was wrong. Not as bad as Chicago/Wisconsin winters, but bad enough. And hey, where's the love for Dee Dee Sharp? Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, anyone? -

Janis Joplin/Big Brother and the Holding Company; "Piece of my Heart" & "Ball and Chain" Lydia Pense/Cold Blood: "You Got Me Hummin'" Gayle McCormick/Smith: "Baby It's You" and the best ever...Arlene Smith/The Chantels: "Maybe" Edit. How could I forget Sandy Denny/Fairport Convention? Pick any song, maybe "Matty Groves". She was also the only guest singer Led Zeppelin ever recruited ("The Battle of Evermore"). -
"Ice Cream Cone Cereal" Wow, I had totally forgotten about that stuff. I thought it was pretty good.

Hall of Famer Al Simmons played three seasons for the Sox. Another older great was Dixie Walker. Walker is often remembered for initially, as a member of the Dodgers, being outspoken and very opposed to the acquisition of Jackie Robinson. I guess it's thought that this might have kept him out of the Hall of Fame.

Whatever happened to pea shooters? Kids playing baseball? Lik-m-aid? Choco-mint lifesavers? Five cent pack of baseball cards? Classics Illustrated comic books? Shock Theater? Corner drugstores? Soul music?

Interesting question. I voted for El Duque, but Jenks would be a very close second. -
Count me in.

Minor League Baseball to set another attandance record
BigEdWalsh replied to BHAMBARONS's topic in The Diamond Club
Interesting. I've done my part. I've seen the Orem Owlz play (July 3rd, an Orem record crowd of 4, 579...pretty good crowd for a Rookie level team). I'll be seeing all the Great Falls games when they play in Orem in a few weeks. I've been to a bunch of Salt Lake Bees games and I'm going again tomorrow night. I saw Jared Weaver pitch a gem just before his first callup and I remarked to my friend, "he'll get called up soon". At that game the "old" guy sitting behind me said that he had been Dave McNally's catcher in American Legion ball. He said that he waaay prefers minor league baseball to major league games. Of course that's probably true of a lot of people who don't live very close to a major league city. So that's a good thing. Minor league games ARE fun but I'd rather go to one Sox game than a hundred minor league games. I SOOOO miss Chicago!! -
My first post in a long time. Though I'm on here almost daily checking things out. Yay!! I get to see them a bunch on TV. Boo! They lose almost every time I watch......yeah, I know. Don't watch. That's not easy though.
