QUOTE (forrestg @ Mar 14, 2012 -> 08:02 AM) Robin ,himself went 0 for 43 before getting his first hit. He didn't give up when his ankle got severely broken at the plate. Nothing can stop "sweet swinging " Robin. Dayan needs to see the tape of those moments of his courageous manager. Then he will be inspired and will ffinally be the cuban Babe Ruth. Sounds like the making of a Hollywood movie.

Eating nachos out of a green Sox batting helmet and watching the Sox hopefully beat the Mariners.

QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 04:44 PM) Viciedo's a slow starter I hope that's all it is because he looks lost at the plate. I know he's frustrated. He slammed his bat a couple of times in the dugout after striking out today.

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 03:16 PM) Might be time to start talking about this Hector Gimenez as a backup catcher instead of Flowers. I was at the game (been to all the games) and that is exactly what I told my daughter. I doubt it would happen but it should. I also hate to admit it, but so far, I'm thinking the Tank may need another year at Charlotte.

What are your feelings on new tagline "Appreciate the Game"?
BigEdWalsh replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Mar 12, 2012 -> 06:45 PM) It's the kind of tagline you use when the team itself is going to be s***ty. Right on. That said, I like it. I'm digging the games down in Arizona even though the Sox are pretty much sucking. Ya have to just appreciate the little things. -
Trayce Thompson is impressing me. He's been swinging a pretty good bat. 2-2 and nailed a runner at the plate.
-
QUOTE (Tex @ Mar 8, 2012 -> 08:27 PM) Ah, yeah, Ed, that sounds damn good Don't knock it till you've tried it. Course ya gotta like mayo.
-
Any kind of multi-grain bread toasted, creamy pb and mayo. Grosses a lot of people out but it's damn good.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 8, 2012 -> 11:02 AM) Daryl Van Schouwen @CST_soxvan floyd has 1 2 3 inning without retiring a batter. double, out trying to stretch; 2 singles, 2 caught stealing Mark Gonzales @MDGonzales All three Rangers outs in third on the basepaths. Floyd at 47 pitches. Could an inning be any more weird than that?

Well at least they're having fun. Click here for more photos. -
My first spring training game ever. Humber pitched well in 2 innings. Addison Reed struck out Matt Kemp in a 1-2-3 inning. He looked good! Beckham made some nice plays at 2nd but looked lost at bat. Alexei was 2-2. Adam Dunn a groundout and a walk. Molina pitched ok for an inning but for his second inning, he had nothing and got rocked. Dan Johnson belted a two-run homer in the ninth off Ryan Tucker. I know it's only spring training but what a bunch of lame-a$$ fans.

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 5, 2012 -> 03:47 AM) Hawk looks a tad wide in the background there. Unless that is not him. That was him.

More Spring Training pictures here.

I drove down the coast of Oregon and California with my daughter, taking our time and seeing some sights along the way. It took us a week because I wanted to just take my time. I thought some people who have never been out west might enjoy seeing some of the photos. I hope you enjoy. Click here if you'd like to see more photos. There's 67 in all.

Picking only one, I go with Little Louie. I was 6 years old when he was a rookie and he was my favorite player growing up. My first baseball glove had his signature. Man, was I excited when I got that for a birthday present. I remember how the crowd would chant (Go! Go! Go!) whenever he got on base. Always thought that really cool.

Ron Hansen was a pretty good shortstop. Good fielder and was a pretty good clutch hitter. Even had some power. He had back problems which certainly hurt his career. I can't believe I forgot Tom Paciorek. He was for sure an all-time favorite of mine.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 3, 2012 -> 03:33 PM) Who is Veal? Donnie Veal. It looked to me today as though he's Coop's fix-him project.
-
Veal pitched 2 innings, struggled with his control. Afterwards Cooper said to him, "The positive we get from this today is you were more aggressive in your second inning." Reporting live from spring training, this is BigEd.
-
I forgot several. No-Neck for sure, also Rowand, Crede, Pete Ward and of course the Milkman. Also Lamar Johnson.

2012 Cuban signees thread Cespedes/Soler/Concepcion
BigEdWalsh replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 24, 2012 -> 08:21 PM) http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/red-sox/pos...-on-cuban-soler Cubs/Esptein supposedly prepared to offer SOLER $26 million over 4 years...options/escape/buy-out clauses unknown. And with that, now I hope he's a total bust. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 24, 2012 -> 03:25 PM) I remember mine. It was the first year new Comiskey opened, and my uncle got a bunch of tickets. I came away from that game with like 10 White Sox collector's cups. It was tight. I was a dumb little kid. Not so dumb. Those cups were cool and I still have and use a couple of them.
