  1. Oh God that's funny. I nearly pissed myself. Check out the Fox Cancels ALCS link on the same page with Carl Everett references.
  2. I am convinced that Scooter is the Anti-Christ's most clever disguise yet.
  3. I love seeing ND lose. That being said, they impressed the hell out of me. I had no idea they were that good. I can't see them dropping in the polls after this game.
  4. As I walked past the Tribune Tower last weekend, I thought it was interesting to see Sox merchandise on sale in the window display. We displaces the lovable losers in their own home.
  5. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 11:31 AM) Actually I believe I was technically correct...I said we have not been LESS than 2 games away since 1959, which is exactly the case. We are currently tied with that mark, set in both 83 and 93. 1 more win and we enter territory uncharted in my lifetime...hell in almost 2 of my lifetimes stacked on top of each other. Language can give false impressions. You should run for public office. I suspect Illinois will be looking for a new governor. Governor Balta??
  6. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 11:04 AM) Right now, we are as close to the Fall Classic as we have been since 1959. We have not been less than 2 wins from the W.S. since that year. Freddy...GET US 1 GAME CLOSER. It's all you big man. Prove to us once again why we wanted that arm of yours. If you want to be technical, we were 2 games away in 83 because it was a 5 game ALCS series then.
  7. When a 28 year old man in good physical shape just drops dead, that worries me. Not because he is the same age as me, but because of what might be the cause. The things athletes put into their bodies contribute to this. The lifestyle lived by athletes is not as healthy as it seems. A good example is Daryl Kile. What really concerns me is that these athletes are role models for children. I will step down from my soap box ... God bless and Godspeed Jason Collier.
  8. Let's hope the new Poppa, Sweaty Freddy brings his A game tonight. We are gonna need it. Mow'em down and serve'em as baby food Freddy!
  9. SOUNDS FROM THE BOOTH JOE: DAM IT TIM. PUT THAT THING BACK IN YOUR PANTS> NOBODY WANTS TO SEE YOUR RALLY MONKEY!!!!!
  10. Sounds from the Booth TIM McCarver: Hey Lou, has the nurse come by to change our catheter bags yet?
  11. Garalnd looks good so far , think he was trying to be too fine w/ Figgins. Good inning!
  12. QUOTE(TLAK @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 07:13 PM) Don't piss her off, she might eat you. ... only to s*** you out and eat you again.
  13. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 07:06 PM) I think she just popped one out. She's a big top-heavy because of it. She did just pop one out, but somebody has to tell her that she no longer needs to eat for two. Old Country Buffet has been locking the doors when they see her coming. Hell, she could do commercials with Kirstie Allie.
  14. Nothing about this game makes me more nervous than Garland pitching. 13 days rest is not good for a sinker baller. He is 2-6 against them in his career. Garland also was not sharp in the second half. Considering that we will probably be lucky to get 3 runs off of Lackey, I am nervous. ....
  15. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 12:38 PM) Maybe they can take our hitting coach instead The third base coach is also available. We will even enclose the duct tape to hold his arms down preventing him from prematurely waving runs home. If we placed a FOR SALE sign in front of Greg Walker's home, perhaps the yankees would turn their attention away from Cooper.
  16. I am afraid I just don't understand Crede. For the first 8 innings, he is largely useless at the plate. But in the 9th, he suddenly becomes instoppable. Can we have him hypnotized to always think it is the 9th inning?
  17. I suppose some of you will want Crede to bat 3rd now. :headshake
  18. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 04:19 PM) NO TIMO?!?!?!?!?! Timo will sneak on the field wearing Dye's uniform. Nobody will know the difference.
  19. I suspect after the extended pregame and the Timmy McCarver monologue and the extensive replays of the ball Josh Pall "dropped", MLB may allow the game to begin at about 10:30.
  20. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 08:01 PM) Your thoughts? Tim McCarver should die a slow and painful death as demonstrated in the movie "Clockwork Orange". Except instead of being forced to listen to Beethoven's 9th Symphony (Ode to Joy), he should be forced to listen to his whinny, repetitive, monotonous voice during baseball broadcasts as he drifts further into insanity.
  21. QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 07:51 PM) He's already gotten some death threats, or so I've heard. He could stay in Steve Bartman's old hose. Nobody lives there anymore.
  22. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 07:42 PM) Try 4 for 7 million and a team option for a 5th year worth 2 million. That's best case for Joe. You forget the Scott BorASS has a habit of getting way too much $$$ for players. Beltran is the top ten in payrole, yet Carles Lee had a better year. Other sickly overpaid clients include AROD, IROD, Alex Fernandez (have you seen him lately?), ... and most of top tem players.
  23. In seems somewhat ironic that Joe Crede who often the goat on this board bailed out the true goat of game 2, Joey Cora. Before Game 3, they should duct tape Joey's arms to his sides. It is nearly 24 hours later and I am still pissed about it. I wonder if the clubs that were pursuing him for a manager position like the Mets did last year are counting their blessing. I sure hope somebody hires him as a manager this winter.
