Yahoo article bashing WSox
QUOTE(NYSox35 @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 01:37 PM) Here is the link: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=ArDN...ov=ap&type=lgns This article really annoyed me. It's one thing when Mariotti and the Cubune bash us (people in Chicago generally know what is/isn't true with our city's teams), but it's another when a national writer focuses only on our negatives and bashes us in this way. Here is my response to the author. (I'm working on a project now but will be back later...go White Sox!) Hello Jim, Thanks for the great portrayal of the White Sox. It's nice to see yet another writer focus on all the negative attributes of the team's history. Couldn't you have worked in how nice a stadium Wrigley is and how many fans the Cubs draw while you were at it? No, we don't have a cute stadium, celebrity fans, a curse, or our own "nation." Guess what though, we like it that way. Our focus has always been on our team and not the peripheral things you mention. While we aren't tops in attendnence, there are factors other than what you mention that play into that (No train to the stadium from the Suburbs, working class fan base, fans don't show up if we're fielding a bad team in a given year). Beating Boston in the first round was particularly sweet. No one wanted us in the playoffs or expected us to do anything. We not only beat the defending champs, we swept them and ended their season in their own park. Personally, I am rooting for the Yankees, because it would be particularly sweet to beat the most storied franchise in baseball history and head to the world series, creating some history for ourselves that you say we lack in the process. That being said, seeing Anaheim in the ALCS wouldn't kill me. However, it might kill you and the rest of the media. I mean, what would you write about with no Boston, New York, or even the Cubs being involved. To borrow Al Davis' line, White Sox fans (remember, we don't have a "nation" like you said) have always had the mentality of "Just Win Baby." When we do win, don't jump on our bandwagon. There won't be any room for you on the South Side express. Whatever

Around the horn
QUOTE(Soxfest @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 05:19 PM) R.Justice of the Houston Chronicle and TK were both whining if the Yankees do not win tonight they should move Angels/White Sox to HSN network because no one will watch. TK cannot accept the fact Red Sox/Yankees will not happen.Justice claims Angels are best team in AL. I laugh at the fact White sox are so disrespected on to the World Series White Sox will the Angels/Yanks

24 hours from now
We will be trying to the Yanks or Angels

ALCS Roster announced
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 02:12 AM) I'm one of the few that's glad Marte is on the roster. I know he's stuggled of late, but if Ozzie and Coop have this much faith in him, I will also. He just hasn't been doing anything well

ALCS Roster announced
QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 11:40 AM) The way Count has pitched since the ASG, I have no problem with him getting the extra start. Who knows how it'll play out, but he's convinced me that he's the best choice for Game One. I just wish The Walk Machine was removed from the roster. Mac did more in one month to deserve a role on the team than Marte's done in two years. So he sucks with his left arm - who cares?? It's not like Damaso Remlinger can get a lefty out anyway.... Contreras has just been other teams

Jermaine Dye to 1B
QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 11:35 AM) No one is saying they don't want PK back. However, he's put himself in a position where he will be the most coveted FA on the market. We all want him on the White Sox next year, but that might not be feasible. Personally, I'm just thrilled that at least the reason his salary will likely be so high is because he's had two very good seasons, and is finishing off extremely strong. It's a lot better than the way the Marlins are going to lose Burnett, even though he sucked down the stretch. Yeah, 83 HRS, 220 RBI (playoffs also) is solid
