  1. Thomas hits #2! (9th inning off J Crain 0 on, 0 Out). On the other topic I'm rooting for Oakland and Detroit, San Diego and LA. Then Oakland and San Diego. Then Oakland, I love Thomas and I think Beene is f***ing amazing.
  2. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 08:49 AM) . Losing his velocity could be a blessing in disguise. Not a Freddy fan, but he seems to be gaining it back. Anyone else notice he hit 93 quite a few times. I think that's the highest all year.
  3. QUOTE(beautox @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 06:15 PM) Hats off to Garcia today, thank you for raising your trade value, My thoughts exactly. Every day Garcia pitches I hope he pitches lights out not only for a sox win, but to raise his trade value so someone, like the BoSox, overvalue him like they did with Beckett.
  4. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 04:28 PM) Then look at the f***ing coach. Why did podsednik stop last night jesus this s*** is sad, I don't care what the f*** the score is , this is stiupid baseball!!!!! I have to call out Dye too. He has made numerous baserunning mistakes. Anyone remember the Boston game earlier this year? That would have been a disaster.
  5. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 03:59 PM) I am watching the game via this. Is it junkball fred or is he thowing the hard stuff. He's not throwing hard, but is placing it real well. He's probably on the bennies.
  6. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 03:52 PM) Is that really Freddy pitching? Since I can't see it with my own two eyes I'm questioning it somewhat. Tomorrow we will find out Garcia is suspended the remainder of the season for violation of the league's drug policies.
  7. QUOTE(PA32R @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 03:51 PM) I don't think it's only that. The other night many were saying that, if the Sox don't make the playoffs they'd like to see ANYONE, even the Tigers (same division, obviously) rather than the Twins go all the way. Than the reasons stated by other posters before I hit the refresh button seem suitable enough.
  8. QUOTE(PA32R @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 03:45 PM) I agree with this. So, as someone relatively new to the board and who lives in Cali and thus can't follow Chicago news very easily, why does the majority of this board hate the Twins so much? I'm no Pats fan but I like their organization and respect what they've accomplished. Why wouldn't the same hold for the Twins? BTW, though I'm new to the board my childhood hero was Nellie Fox and the first thing I learned to say was Louis Aparicio so I'm not new to the Sox. Because they're probably in the same division. The posts that I have seen have been more about respect for them and their GM more than anything.
  9. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 05:34 PM) Blah,Blah Blah, Ozzie is using Brandon in the wrong role. Im sick of that. Brandon has one role. Get Outs. That is his role, along with everyone else in the bullpen and the staff. Get outs. Right now, he is not getting it done, plane and simple. There was ALOT done wrong today, but McCarthy needs to step it up, because he isnt helping his cause by getting more time on the mound... Amen to that. I'm sick of hearing these bulls*** excuses too.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 04:15 PM) The swings these players are taking in walkoff situations is absolutely embarrassing. I couldn't agree more. It seems to be the norm now if the game is tied late, everyone tries to be the hero taking wicked cut to go for the big hr instead of just looking to get on base. These AB's late in a tied game are just pathetic. The only one I do exempt is when Konerko went for it after Dye's hr. on Saturday.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 06:53 PM) Was PK standing on the base? I understand how he was out, but he must have not been running hard to be out by that far. I thought the same thing. For it not even being close is downright puzzling.
  12. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 11:28 AM) The thing that makes me doubt that, though, is that he has hit the mid-90s in a few games this year. He can still do it sometimes, and that makes me wonder about his 'roid use. In my mind, the alternative is that he's just been getting fatter (that we can see with our own eyes) and has lost a lot of focus, and probably is hitting up too much marijuana. Hell, it could be both. I don't know about steroids, but it might have more to do with amphetamine use. Former players said numerous times that the new drug tests is going to effect more players in terms of amphetamine use than with the roids us. They also singled out pitchers as the main culprits as the drug amazingly increases your abilty to focus(remember amphetamines are the main active ingredient in the "study drugs" Adderall and Dexedrine) and also gives you loads of constant energy. I remember Buster Olney or someone stating that teams were buying Red Bull by the cases in trying to counteract the drug policy. I wouldn't be suprised if quite a few Sox pitchers were effected by this.
  13. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 6, 2006 -> 09:39 PM) Actually, I believe they offer equal protection but much better ventilation. Freddy, you need one of these on the mound.
  14. Since one of his pitches is called "the hammer" what about "Hammer Time" by MC Hammer.
  15. wow,!! still no mention of the home run now in the bottom of the ninth.
  16. QUOTE(knightni @ Oct 19, 2005 -> 01:19 PM) Would Berres be able to get down in a squat? EDIT: AND get up again? I know this was said jokingly, but actually my dad is his doctor, and is in great shape mentally and physically I wouldn't be surprised if he would, he still drives to my dad's office which is an hour away.
  17. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 19, 2005 -> 11:06 AM) Actually, did anybody mention Al Lopez? I guess those who suggested the entire surviving '59 club sort of did. At 97 (or whatever age they said he was), he looked pretty spry in Anaheim last week. Yeah, I'd go with Al for one of these games for sure. Actually longtime Sox pitching coach(also of the 59' team) Ray Berres is also 97 and is very very alive and well. You could have Al Lopez pitch and Berres be the catcher. That would be something for these guys and fans to remember.
  18. Is it me or does Mike Piazza sound like Tony Gwynn at times?
  19. I have been a White Sox fan the last 20 years and my favorite player since 1990 was Frank Thomas. I collected all his cards and magazine covers, but I don't know if this has been discussed before, but doesn't it seem like when Frank is hitting well, no injuries are bothering him. When he isn't hitting well, then his injuries are nagging him. There was a article in Sports Illustrated a while back hinting Pete Sampras would try to fake in an injury in the middle of a match he's losing in a scapegoat ploy to losing to lesser foe. I do know Frank is hurt, but could he be embelishing it a little bit because he's hitting so bad(average wise)?
