White Sox Acquire Infielder Alex Cintron
This is a great trade! I cannot think of a bench that comes close to this one in terms of quality and flexibility. Cintron gives the Sox 2 bench choices at almost every position without that much of a downgrade. C - Widger 1B - Mack, Thome 2B - Ozuna, Cintron SS - Cintron, Ozuna 3B - Mack, Cintron, Ozuna OF - Borchard, Mack DH - Borchard, Mack I am sure I am missing a few combinations, but either way this gives the Sox some great options off the bench and in the event of an injury.

Are Gload and Borchard locks?
Just curious to see what everyone thinks about Gload's and Borchard's chances of making the team if the Sox only go with 11 pitchers. It seems like most people think they are locks. I know numbers aren't everything, but it is hard not to notice how good Sweeney and Fields have been batting. Here are their numbers with Owens thrown in: AB R H BI AVG OBP SLG OPS R Sweeney rf 11 4 6 2 .545 .583 1.090 1.673, 2 HR, BB J Fields 3b 8 2 4 3 .500 .500 1.500 2.000, 2 2B, 2 HR R Gload 1b 9 2 3 0 .333 .455 .444 .899, 2B, 2 BB, SB J Borchard rf 13 2 2 0 .154 .214 .154 .368, BB J Owens lf 11 3 1 0 .091 .231 .273 .504, 3B, 2 BB, SB Would it be better to have Sweeney, Fields, and Owens start in Charlotte to give them more ABs instead of having them on the bench in the bigs? or Do you bring one of two of these guys up if they continue to tear it up in Spring Training?

Lopez looking really good (4:0 K:BB Ratio). Now we will have to see if Munoz, Reynoso, and Tucker can keep pace. Tucker also threw a scoreless inning. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 04:31 AM) Maybe someone can write a book called Kennyball: The Art of Winning a World Series so Beane can read it and know what it feels like to have a World Series ring. Ouch!- White Sox' Way Is to Win
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 03:43 AM) I don't know how much of the 'no-playoff-series' wins thing is Beane's fault, though. From 2000-2003, the A's made the playoffs every year and were knocked out every year in the first round. In all four of these series', the A's lost game five to lose the series. They've lost these four Game-5 games by a combined total of six runs. So what would and wouldn't be a GM's fault? He should be accountable for everything that happens with the team. Maybe he didn't pull the trigger on a trading deadline deal that could have gotten them over the hump. Either way if he gets credit for all those regular season successes then he should get credit for the playoff failures as well. A team's regular season wins and losses are worthless in the playoffs. Don't get me wrong, Beane knows what he is doing, but it looks like his formula just builds a great regular season team that cannot compete in a 5 or 7 game series. That is where baseball strategies change. Since you rarely play a team more than 4 games straight in the regular season, you can get away with some things that get exposed in a 7 game series. Oakland has done this too many times to be a coincidence.- White Sox' Way Is to Win
I thought the article tried to show the differences between KW and Beane, and ended up doing a pretty bad job. Every GM uses different methods to achieve the same goal, that is not really newsworthy. Beane might have averaged 96 wins, but Oakland has not even came close to the World Series with him as a GM. They have never even won a single post season series under Beane. Also, how many of those wins were aided by performance enhancers (Giambi, Tejada, etc)?- Fields feeling more comfortable

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 01:01 AM) Does anybody know if Munoz or Lopez is scheduled to pitch in this one? This was from Scott Reifert's Blog talking about Sunday (but I think he meant Monday), and it matches most of the info from SSH2005's link. So yes, Munoz and Lopez will pitch.
