QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 4, 2006 -> 07:24 AM) Thanks for the info there RME JICO. Probably a good idea for everyone to do. No prob, it seems like this Jason Coffman guy of Philadelphia didn't like the Thome trade. I hope the admins can gather enough information to pursue this guy.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 4, 2006 -> 03:32 AM) I don't know. But 3 days is not enough time to determine favorites. Every inning counts for these guys. They all have a small window of opportunity to show their stuff in Spring Training and since Lopez already got a second look and performed decent, then he is clearly the front runner. The next group will get their second look today or tomorrow. Also, most relief pitchers will only see about 15 - 20 innings in ST, so Lopez's 2 1/3 is about 10% of his ST appearances.

Here is the LOOGY Battle breakdown so far: IP H R ER BB SO HR ERA WHIP J Lopez 2 1/3 3 0 0 0 2 0 0.00 1.29 A Munoz 1 0 0 0 0 2 0 0.00 0.00 C Bentz 1 0 0 0 1 1 0 0.00 1.00 P Reynoso 1 0 0 0 2 0 0 0.00 2.00 R Tucker 1 1 0 0 0 1 0 0.00 1.00 S Randolph 1 1 1 1 2 1 0 9.00 3.00 C Malone (L,0-1) 1 2 3 3 3 2 0 27.00 5.00 A Almanza (L,0-1) 1-3 4 4 4 0 0 0 36.00 12.00 Lopez has been really effective and four others have yet to let up an earned run. It is still way to early but I figure Almanza and Malone are out of the running.

QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 12:00 AM) RME JICO, this extension is awesome. Any chance of an update since they changed the forums? Yep, I am waiting for the Admins to finalize all the changes to the site, URLs, etc, and once that is complete I will post an updated version.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 12:02 PM) How about f*** that. You only live once, and he may never have another opportunity to receive a World Series Championship ring in front of adoring fans. If he does show up, he will get the loudest ovation out of anyone! I agree, that it the same way I felt about all the ceremonies and events that came after the WS. Every player and coach should attend them all because they may never get another chance to experience them.

Could be for the Minor Leagues.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 06:31 PM) I guess I look at it differently. When Paulie came up, although I had a good feeling, I was also like "ok, this is our last chance, we better not f***ing blow this and head to Houston 1-1". When he hit that slam, it was part extreme joy and subconsious relief that we had the lead. With Pods homer, it was the 2nd most shocking thing I've ever seen in sports (next to the Illinois/Arizona comeback) and I was just completely losing my mind since it officially won the damn game and sent Houston home in a state of horrid depression. I agree, Paulie hit 40 HRs the last two years and had already hit a couple in the post season, so even though that was an awesome hit, it was not that surprising. I almost expected it. Paulie's slam was awesome, but it comes in slightly behind Pods'. The Pods homer was huge, an unlikely walk-off against one of the best closers in the league after he had zero HR's in the regular season. The Astros just came back to tie the game off Jenks and it looked like the Sox lost the edge. Uribe flied out and it looked like it was going to extra innings. That was Pods only hit and he already left 3 on base earlier in the game. It was by far the 2nd most shocking/exciting sports play/game that I have witnessed, with the Illini-Arz game being 1st by a hair.

That's awesome. Walker's comment about Ozzie was good too, not that he was much better.

This seems to be a double positive. Uribe having more patience at the plate, using the leg kick, and getting on base for the meat of the order. Then allowing Gooch to swing away and use his speed more down in the order. The worst case scenario is moving Gooch back to the 2 slot and getting similar production from last year, which didn't turn out too bad.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 07:06 AM) I mentioned this in another thread. Grieve has always had a good swing but little bat speed and no defensive abilities. Jose Canseco said in his book that if Grieve had taken steroids he could have developed into a great power hitter. Grieve's loss of bat speed is the reason he won't see those numbers again. His lack of defense will probably be what sends him to Charlotte. I have only heard a few things about the bat speed and defensive liability, but I only saw him play in those early Oakland days where he seemed to be a decent OFer and batter. I am just curious to see if the injuries that obviously slowed him down are gone and he can return to his previous form. Otherwise you are right on, he will be on his way to Charlotte.

This lineup doesn't have many holes with the only real question mark being Anderson. Podsednik - LH Uribe Thome - LH Konerko Dye Iguchi Pierzynski - LH Anderson Crede Recent quotes like these are also very promising:

Ever since Ben Grieve popped up on the Sox with a Minor League contract I have been trying to figure out a few things about him. He was a former ROY in 1998, and had several solid seasons in OAK, but then all of a sudden he was involved in a 3 team trade that sent him to TB after the 2000 season. Looking at his numbers it would seem at the time to be a bad trade since his replacement, Damon only hit 9 HR, 49 RBI, .256 AVG, .324 OBP, .363 SLG in 2001, a pretty significant drop off from Grieve's performance of the past few seasons. Grieve in his first 3 full seasons: 1998 - 18 HR, 89 RBI, .288 AVG, .386 OBP, .458 SLG 1999 - 28 HR, 86 RBI, .265 AVG, .358 OBP, .481 SLG 2000 - 27 HR, 104 RBI, .279 AVG, .359 OBP, .487 SLG Now even though his AVG and SLG have dropped off since those years, his OBP has stayed fairly consistent: 2001 .372 OBP 2002 .353 OBP 2003 .371 OBP 2004 .361 OBP They said injuries played a part in his decline, but he will only be 30 this May so you would think he would still have something left in the tank. Here are my questions: Did Oakland know something that other teams like TB didn't know when they traded him? Was his performance in OAK aided in anyway by performance enhancing drugs? He played with Canseco, Giambi, McGwire, and Tejada. Do you think it is possible for him to return to a 20 HR, 80 RBI, .275 AVG, .350 OBP, .450 SLG type player? Knowing what you know now about each player, would you take Grieve or Borchard as the 4th OFer assuming both are healthy and have comparable Spring Trainings? I know most of these are speculative, but I am just curious to see some of your opinions.

QUOTE(DePloderer @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 12:44 PM) I'm glad you like them. As for a tutorial, I've no idea where to start, they all use different techniques. A lot of them include a lot of doodling (messing about with settings) and a lot of luck. I learnt all my stuff here. Search photoshop tutorials. If there is anything specific anyone wants to know, ask and if I can remember how it was done I'll put a little tutorial together. Thanks, I will check those out and let you know if I get hung up on something. The biggest problem I have is with cropping from one image to paste into another. The edges are never as smooth as the ones I see on your work. Kalapse, your Mack Sig is one of the best I have seen as well. What tool/filter did you use to tweak the background like that?
