  1. I would respect Wise more as player if he asked to be sent down. There is clearly something wrong since he returned. Before his injury he actually put together a few good games. However, since his return, he has played worse than any player in the bigs. Just man up, asked to be sent down (or put on the DL), work on your issues, and try to fight your way back. Others have done it.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 15, 2009 -> 02:21 PM) Can Wise pull this type of turn-around too? Lets send him down today and find out.
  3. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 15, 2009 -> 09:03 AM) Nobody could fail as badly as D'Wayne Wise. Anybody that was brought up could do exactly what he does. There is no debate. Wise has done nothing all season and therefore anyone could do the same. A younger player may actually succeed a little, who knows. The credability of the KW/OG is taking a hit on this one he really adds nothing to this team. Hopefully this was only to give JD a day off, but even then, it is hard to justify batting him 5th ever.
  4. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 15, 2009 -> 08:56 AM) Didn't Peavy suffer that injury while running the bases? It seems that would've been less likely to happen in the AL. He could've hurt it during interleague play.
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 15, 2009 -> 08:42 AM) Meanwhile, Delmon Young = fail. It's nice to see the Twinx lose a deal so decidedly. Yeah, and he is just as bad as Chris Young no less. So maybe getting rid of him was not such a bad idea after all.
  6. Didn't the card companies saturate the market around that time? I remember when it was Topps, Fleer, and Donruss, or something like that, and there was one normal card and maybe an All-Star card of a player. Then Upper Deck came in and all of a sudden you had all these new types of cards. I stopped collecting around 1990-91. The only good thing is if you are a collector or looking to get back into it, you should be able to get some nice vintage cards pretty cheap.
  7. Wise now a -8.8 VORP. Only 6 players worse than him on BP's listing. Kind of funny to see him right there with the likes of Darin Erstad. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/statisti....php?cid=496184
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 14, 2009 -> 08:44 PM) I'm sick of complaining about guys on our team who can't hit. We have a batch of them. Why single out Wise? Anderson is not exactly Mickey Mantle at the plate. And yes, I agree Wise sucks. But it's sort of like complaining about Walker. He's here; deal with it. If you're sick of complaining, then don't do it. I'm just sick of seeing Wise sent out there, hitting 5th, and going 0-fer again. I would rather see any of the young guys out there. Call someone up, anyone at this point. Anderson and Getz both have multi-hit games in the last week which is more than Wise has in the last month. He still has 0 runs, 0 RBI, 0 SB, and 0 XBH with 1 BB all season. If there is no other option, fine, but at least bat him 8th or 9th, not 5th.
  9. QUOTE (beck72 @ Jun 14, 2009 -> 07:43 PM) I don't blame Wise. He's trying to play with what he's got. What he's got is a game suited for AAAA. But I mostly blame Kenny for not getting a viable 4th OFer option who can hit, get on base, play defense, has speed and can handle the bat. Wise has speed and can play defense. Speed? He has 0 SB's an 2 CS. He defense is good, but that's it. He shouldn't be batting 5th and getting 4 AB's a game. He should be a late inning defensive replacement at the most.
  10. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 14, 2009 -> 07:16 PM) Just wait until next month when the St Paul Saints fans boo him. We have to wait that long?
  11. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 14, 2009 -> 03:49 PM) Why not call up Kroeger or Cook? It's not like we haven't already tried Pods in center. What does Wise offer to this team? Betemit went a month without a hit and he was gone, Lillibridge played bad and was sent down, Miller was DFA'd and they all were playing better than Wise is right now. Why is management so set on keeping this guy on the roster when there are so many other options out there.
  12. Wise really needs to go. I would rather see anyone out there but him. He is 1-24 since returning in May with 8 K's and 1 BB. He is quite possibly the worst player on any Major League roster. There were only 10 players worse than him according to BP's VORP listing before today's game in which he went 0-4 with a K and is now batting .133. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/statisti....php?cid=495853

  14. Didn't Toby Hall play 1B during ST before?
  15. Giambi the best net return on investment for BALCO? A nice collection of PED users on there too.
  16. KW clearly stated: So that must mean the Sox are talking to Houston about a positional player. Could it be an Outfielder?
  17. 9-3 as we string together a nice win streak.
  18. No prob, sorry for the delay. Normally have it done by ST. Please let me know if you find any bad links or have other link suggestions.
  19. Great win. Now we have 12 games in the next 11 days at home. Would be nice to be a couple of games over .500 after that homestand.
  20. I finally got around to updating the White Sox Firefox Extension. You can download it here: http://www.pcgamingtech.net/downloads/whitesox.xpi Just click the link, then click "Install Now". After install, then select "Restart FireFox". Add-On will appear next to "Help" on top of browser. The update should be up on the Official Add-Ons site within a few days. Updates: * Updated Roster * Added Links (Fan Graphs, Baseball Cube, and Wikipedia links for all players; added Twitter link) * Removed Old or Dead Links Coming Soon: During the All-Star break I will add all the players on the 40-man roster and some key prospects. If you notice any errors, bad links, etc, please send me a PM. This version works with the most current Firefox release.
  21. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 11, 2009 -> 11:42 PM) It's kind of a unique situation. I was a pretty huge Blackhawks fan up until the strike. I used to watch them in the Amonte/Nylander/Zhamnov/Thibault/Daze days and it was rough. Then I got older and the Hawks sucked, they weren't on TV, and the NHL was losing the greats that lured me in (Patrick Roy, Raymond Bourque) and my interest waned. Since the day the Hawks drafted Kane, my interest has gone up and up, and now being able to watch them on TV every game really makes it easier to be a fan again. There is a lot to be excited about.Man I feel the exact same way. It is amazing how well this team has been built thru the draft and via trades. You have to be amazed at how young this group is, and hopefully we can keep them around for the next decade. Kane is still not even old enough to drink (20) and Toews just turned 21 last month. That is crazy.
  22. Lebron can't even come up with his own pre-game ritual, he has to use Jordan's. If you were born in the mid to late 80's or later, you can't truly understand how good Jordan was.
  23. More info about the Manny situation. Looks like he had 2 drugs in his system: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4159870
