  1. They are talking about an Icelandic band, not our team. http://www.icenews.is/index.php/2007/10/31...-sox-rock-band/ http://www.pr.com/press-release/58465
  2. Why all the Abreu hate? This guy is a lifetime .300 hitter (.400 OBP/ .900 OPS) who has played in over 150 games every year for the last 11 seasons. He also averages over 20 steals a year which is something this team needs. He is one of the few players that would be a comparable swap for JD. However, like someone has already mentioned, most rumors never happen with KW.
  3. QUOTE (1399 @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 03:59 PM) Ouch! Hit me below the belt why dont you. I believe the Anthrax comment was in reference to a former poster using that name.
  4. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...sp&c_id=mlb 18th in the AL for OPS. Not even the MVP for the Sawks. CQ 5th with zero 1st Place votes, Dye 15th.
  5. Other Thome HR milestones: 8 HR's away from passing Mike Schmidt (13th all-time) 23 HR's away from passing Reggie Jackson (12th all-time assuming A-Rod passes him) 29 HR's away from passing Rafael Palmeiro (11th all-time assuming A-Rod passes him) 33 HR's away from passing Harmon Killebrew (10th all-time assuming A-Rod passes him)
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 05:26 PM) Would Q have made a difference in these games? I say yes. Yes, we would've left TB tied 1-1. However, it doesn't really matter unless the pitching comes around. 12 runs allowed in 16 innings is not good.
  7. The problem is not with the head to head comparison, but how the other tie-breakers before it can be affected by the schedule. For example, the Sox only played 80 home games before they played the Twins (even though they were credited with 81). The Baltimore game that started as a home game, ended up as a road game. The Sox got hit with a home loss in that game, in Baltimore. Also, I don't like comparisons in records, because two teams never play the same exact schedule. How about Strength of Schedule? The Sox had a harder SoS than Minnesota with the same record.
  8. At first it looked like he was just being an arse, but after seeing Balfour's reaction after striking out Uribe, Cabrera was just giving him a little of his own medicine.
  9. QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 02:40 PM) Rays go on the ropes, and Javy pulls them off. He has a track record of breaking White Sox momentum over the years. I swear he did it continually in 2006. This year, down the stretch, he undid the team's good work in KC by giving the Twins the game, the momentum and the confidence in the first game of that series. Who knows how this one would've ended up, but I'm pretty sure the Rays felt a lot better about themselves after they took the lead back in this game. They also felt better after OC made a complete arse of himself in the 7th with the bases loaded.
  10. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 02:51 PM) I didn't figure we'd win this game with Vazquez starting, but you HAVE to get a run with the bases loaded in the playoffs. and only 1 out. 2 K's. That can't happen.
  11. Richard is on fire! Javy take notice, thats how you do it.
  12. I hope that is the last time we see Pusquez pitch on this team.
  13. I just don't understand how a guy can go from unhittable to a batting practice pitcher from hitter to hitter like Vazquez. That kills me about him. How can you strikeout 200 batters and have an ERA close to 5.00? There is only 1 other pitcher (Burnett) in the bigs with +200 Ks and an ERA over 3.50.
  14. Relaxed and excited. As we saw last night with the Scrubs. In baseball, anyone can win any given day. It is a new season. We've played TB fairly well all season. When we score 4+ runs, we are 4-1 against them. If we score 3 or less, we are 0-5. So our magic number for runs scored is 4. We also have no expectations. No one is picking us to win the series, and many have us being swept. There is no pressure, just go out, have fun and enjoy the ride. Lets also hope Vazquez believes today is April 18th.
  15. I'm sorry for saying the Sox needed Tom Emanski.
  16. Sox lifetime against Shields: Cabrera 4-11, 1 2B, 3 BB, .364 AVG Dye 4-7, 2 2B, .571 AVG Konerko 2-5, .400 AVG Pierzynski 3-10, .300 AVG Ramirez 2-2, 1 HR, 1.000 AVG Swisher 1-6, 1 HR, .167 AVG Thome 3-9, 1 HR, 2 BB, .333 AVG Uribe 2-5, .400 AVG All look pretty good besides Swisher.
  17. IN DANKS WE TRUST!!!!!! OMG! 3 OUTS AWAY !!!!!!!
  18. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 06:18 PM) After seeing everyone in the stadium stand up, I must say that everyone there not wearing black must feel like total asses. Yes, they're called Twins fans.
  19. Danks is pitching his heart out. Lets get him some runs boys!
  20. I love how AJ showed the ball to Cuddyer, classic. Now lets win this thing!
