  1. QUOTE(GasHeGone @ Dec 4, 2005 -> 11:42 AM) Entire playoffs on DVD, eh? What is this video called and why isn't it being marketed? Or is this some bootleg DVD that an E-Bay seller put together? However, I'm intrigued. Tell me more. My dream is to have a DVD with all twelve playoff games with Rooney and Farmer dubbed over FoxJagBag announcers. Lemme know. No they are the actual broadcasts, but they are put together pretty nice, with chapters built in per inning, the post game shows, parade, etc, with no commercials. Just search for "white sox dvd" on eBay. You will have to dig around a little because the standard dvd is all of the place.
  2. You can pick up the entire playoffs on DVD fairly cheap on eBay as a free gift for buying something small (which makes the transaction legal). I bought an Ozzie Guillen baseball card and received the entire playoffs for $30 on DVD. There are a ton listed and I am sure the price will come down over time since they have been as high as $80. I never got to see the vids from 3E8, but if you need bandwidth for downloads, I have a ton (so we can share our personal White Sox diaries), just PM me.
  3. Here is an update on this topic from cnnsi.com: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/base...l.ap/index.html I hope this is still some type of PR move to add interest in El Duque, because it will be a crime if B-Mac is not in next year's rotation.
  4. The one benefit to a longer deal is that it normally brings the $ per year down. So if Garland was looking for $7-$8 per year, then a 6 yr for $42 (7 per avg) is not bad for Garland. Once the winter meetings are complete, I am sure that KW will have another offer for JG.
  5. QUOTE(beck72 @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 05:47 AM) I second that. The sox will go into ST with both guys -in case one of the sox SP's get hurt]. If everyone is healthy, and El Duque's arm stays on long enough for some dope team to trade for him--as some will, 'cause they have an injury---, good bye Duque. Neither he nor BMac are going to the bullpen. I agree, this is some great PR work. It is funny how this stuff pops up before the winter meetings, when this would seem to be more of an issue closer to ST. If you think about it, the El Duque of 2005 is still a better starting pitcher than what a lot of teams have in their #3, 4, or 5 spots in the rotation; so this seems to be a clever way to advertise that he is available.
  6. I think the Sox will get something done with him, but I guess if an offer comes up that they can't refuse then he is definitely expendable. 2005 was his first good year, and that was because of his strong first half. He was 3-6 from August on in the regular season, before starting 15-4. So I would not say that his value is that high. Yes, he was a Cy Young candidate, but that was because of his first half. The Count was 9-1 during that same span, which by many accounts was more important.
  7. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 07:38 PM) Funny how you don't mention the Sox' starting CF in '06: Brian Anderson in any of this. I was going based off the current 25 man roster which Anderson is not on, but I do agree with you.
  8. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 04:58 PM) I agree with all these (we won't carry 12 pitchers), except for your bench. You have some positions that are not well-covered. I suspect the bench will look like this: Widger © Ozuna (3B, corner OF, or SS if absolutely necessary) Harris (2B, SS, CF) Backup OF (Could be any of Anderson, Owens, Borch or someone outside) Mueller or other INF (could be Gload, or Cintron, or ???) That gives you essentially 2 backups at any given OF position and all INF positions, and the Mueller-esque position can be anything. So basically there is almost a guaranteed lock on these 19: Buehrle, Contreras, Garcia, Garland, McCarthy, Cotts, Politte, Jenks, Vizcaino, Pierzynski, Widger, Crede, Iguchi, Konerko, Thome, Uribe, Ozuna, Dye, Podsednik. and the other 6 roster spots are up for grabs with these guys currently on the roster filling 5 of those 6: Hernandez Hermanson Marte Harris Perez I just think the Sox are short too many OF's. They had Everett as DH but he still played some RF as needed. With him and Aaron gone, that leaves basically 2 holes since Thome fills the DH and backup 1B role. Ozuna covers 3B, Harris covers 2B/SS. So unless the Sox unload Ozuna or Harris, I don't see them picking up another IF like Mueller unless they really don't trust Joe's back.
  9. Based off the latest movements, here is the current roster. It looks like the Sox are 95% set. Where do you see any changes? Obviously slot #25 goes to Anderson/Owens/Young or whoever is going to play OF, but besides that, where are the other moves going to be if any(Marte, El Duque, Harris, Perez)? Where is an upgraded needed or likely? Just your thoughts in general. I kept thinking Mueller, but unless the Sox unload an IF, they be very thin in the OF, even if Ozuna can possibly play there. With the loss of Rowand and Everett, and the addition of Thome, the Sox are actually down 2 OF's from last year. SP 1. Buehrle 2. Contreras 3. Garcia 4. Garland 5. McCarthy RP 6. Hernandez 7. Cotts 8. Politte 9. Jenks 10. Hermanson 11. Vizcaino 12. Marte C 13. Pierzynski 14. Widger IF 15. Crede 16. Iguchi 17. Konerko 18. Thome 19. Uribe 20. Ozuna 21. Harris OF 22. Dye 23. Podsednik 24. Perez 25. *
  10. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 11:49 AM) Is it Toe-Mee or Toe-May?....I've heard both. Pronounced: TOE-mee from: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=4762
  11. The best option right now is for the Sox to trade for Thome and re-sign Paulie.
  12. I doubt the Pads will trade him after just signing him to a cheap deal.
  13. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 07:33 PM) http://casdra.com/win_shares/ws_all.php Aaron Rowand 24 Juan Pierre 23 That's taking into consideration both hitting & fielding. That is for 2004! lol Here is 2005: http://www.hardballtimes.com/winshares/ind...gueLimit=League Aaron Rowand 19 Juan Pierre 14
  14. I was asking where the new banner with Paulie on it was. "Where there's Lightning there's Thunder" "See the Lightning, Feel the Thunder"
  15. Some nice quotes from Paulie's Conference call: Speaking in terms of the Jim Thome trade:
  16. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 04:49 PM) Oh wait, I was the one who misread it. He has just six teams he WON'T go to - you were right. Huh. Seems like the list would be the reverse, having only certain teams he would want to go to. I was thinking it was 6 teams he doesn't want to go to without his approval. I figured he wouldn't go to the Sawks or the Yanks, since they are East coast and the media is pretty ridiculous, then the Twins and Indians because of the rivalry thing, and the Royals because they are just flat our horrible. Then the Cubs because it would be an odd move from a fan standpoint. Now he probably just went with 6 East coast teams, but those were mine.
  17. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 04:37 PM) You were joking on the teams, right? D-Backs would be there, and the Angels, definitely. Maybe the Cubs. Yeah, I just made up the list really quick. Why would he have a no trade clause for the Angels when he just went there for a possibe contract. I was just thinking of teams that he would refuse to go to. BTW, When is the banner going to be cupdated to add Kong back on there with the Thomenator?
  18. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 04:25 PM) Interesting quote out of the TSN version of the story... I wonder who the 6 teams are? Cubs, Red Sox, Twins, Indians, Yankees, Royals Funny one - ESPN already has an updated Poll out here: http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/sportsnation...g?event_id=1893 One of the questions:
  19. Definitely $12 Million per year: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/c...ll=chi-news-hed
  20. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 11:35 AM) If Paulie gets 13 each yr for 4 years here or 13 each yr for 5 years somewhere else, what's he going to take? Is he going to hang the Sox on the 5th year? He said he wants to stabilize his family, so he wants the 5th year. Now that the O's offer is gone, and it was for 5 years, you have to assume the only offer he will take will be with a 5th year. BTW, has Paulie ever been on the DL with the Sox?
  21. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 08:07 PM) Can that web page tell us who wins the super bowl this year? Says the Bears over the Colts 17-13! I guess he is due salary arbitration and his salary could jump from $446,000 to about $2.5 million.
  22. So does this push up the market for Paulie? http://www.realgmbaseball.com/src_wiretap_...offer_to_giles/
  23. Here is another link: http://www.realgmbaseball.com/src_wiretap_...close_on_myers/ Also mentions Myers being close to signing with the Yanks.
