QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 07:17 PM) Anyone know if there are any certain times for the bloomingdale locationt that the trophy will be there? Dec 26 - 5 pm to 8 pm - U.S. Cellular® Bloomingdale 348-130 W. Army Trail Rd. from Page 4 of this thread.
-
The Red Sox didn't go until early March and the Marlins went in late January, so you can figure it will fall into that window (Jan-Mar).

Bedard as a ready replacement for Prior? Maybe on the DL. This guy was smoking last year in the 1st half. He started out 5-1 with a 2.08 ERA, and had 52 Ks to 14 BBs. Then he gets hurt. After the injury, he goes 1-7 with a 5.44 ERA and 73 Ks to 43 BBs. That looks like 2 different pitchers. I hope the Scrubs do this trade. Maybe they are attempting to be the first team in MLB history to have all 5 opening day starters on the DL at the same time. Wood - Always injured Maddux - Old, really old Zambrano - Seems one tirade away from a hamstring injury Bedard - See Above Take your pick

QUOTE(kdhargo @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 07:53 AM) Any deal w/ the Giants absolutely needs to be hinged around Cain and Merkin. Cain is already projected to be in their starting rotation for 2006, so that would be a steal. I don't know if SF would do that unless they knew that they could sign Jon to a long term deal.
-
They will have a ton of players on the DL this year for geriatric related conditions. At least some of these names might draw an extra 50 people to the stadium.

He is not listed on the roster anymore, but he put up some good numbers: BAA .356 OBP .429 Hits 64 ABs 180 Runs 29 RBIs 21 SBs 11 Trips 4 He was definitely one of the top 5 players in the league. Roster Link: http://www.tiburonesdelaguaira.com.ve/cmae...profesional.php Stats Link: http://www.tiburonesdelaguaira.com.ve/cmae...profesional.php FYI, Jonrones are Homeruns and Bases Robadas are Stolen bases. Haeger also had one of the highest BB/9IP ratios at 4.74, and the lowest SO/9IP ratios at 3.50 - ouch!

I am sure there has, but this one is up there, but the Sox have not changed that many of their starting players so these were more upgrades than anything. If you count DH as a positional player, then the Sox have 2 changes out of 9. For starting pitching, it is going to be either 1 or 2 out of 5. The other players were Bench players and Middle Relief, so the numbers seem higher than they really are. From the Playoff roster the Sox lost: DH - Everett CF - Rowand SP/RP - Hernandez RP - Vizcaino RP - Marte Bench Players - Harris Perez Blum They have added: DH - Thome SP - Vazquez Bench - Mackowiak

QUOTE(TLAK @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 12:33 PM) The New York Yankees. While we're at it, name me the last team that changed over 1/3 of the team and DID repeat. How many of that 1/3 actually started though? Most of the changes will be middle relief and bench players, and it looks like those moves will be upgrades.

QUOTE(heirdog @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 11:53 AM) Anyone have any idea why some teams make trades and then non-tender the players they receive? For example, Atlanta traded Dan Kolb to Milwaukee for Wes Obermueller and then both players were non-tendered. What is the benefit to each team? Good question, I didn't even notice that. I guess there might have been some type of stipulation in their contracts that the trade would negate, then both teams could just non-tender them without paying money out of their pockets. Also, they may be trying to pick them up at a lower price as an FA instead of tendering them a deal that they turn down anyway. Those are my two guesses.
-
What about Byrnes as a replacement for Perez, and Bradford as a replacement for Viz if the price is right?

It looks like the Blue Jays are now the 2nd best team in the East after the Yanks. Boston seems like they are headed back to mediocrity.

QUOTE(Brian @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 09:03 PM) Mine should be here tomorrow according to the package tracking. Where did you orders yours from?

Where did everyone get their bats from? When I Google for them I come up with a ton, here are a couple, any recommendations would be appreciated: http://www.sportsauthority.com/product/ind...oductId=2138218 http://www.onlinesports.com/pages/I,HH-WSOX05WS.html

QUOTE(TLAK @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 08:05 PM) If history is any guide you can expect him to throw 10-12 great games, 10-12 mediocre games and get blown off the mound 10 times. I hope Don Cooper works his magic with him, because thats what it will take to turn this guy into a Champion. Look up his day by day before you flame me. That sounds a lot like Jose Contreras until mid-2005. He would be dominant some games, average some games, and got clobbered in the rest. So if Contreras can do it, I don't see why Vazquez can't turn it around with Coop. I also think AJ's experience calling games will help Vazquez out a lot.

QUOTE(HighHeat45 @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 07:22 PM) Ha, thats weird. I live on Lincolnshire. Carl Sandburg Class of 1992

Not all hitters get a chance to do this, so Thome is going to be able to knock some of the rust off before the regular season and come out cranking from Day One.

QUOTE(HighHeat45 @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 05:28 PM) Sweet, I live 3 minutes away from Orland Square Mall. I used to live right off 135th St and SW HWY. I wish I could go, but I guess the Cooperstown White Sox Display will have to do.

I really believe he is out to prove all the skeptics wrong and have a huge year. He has to be licking his chomps just by thinking about hitting bombs out of the Cell.

I thought this tidbt was interesting: So we will get to see how Thome is doing in terms of recovery a lot sooner, which is great news. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...tesox-headlines If this was already posted, Mods please delete.
