White Sox vs, Cubs, 5/19/07 (L)
QUOTE(fathom @ May 19, 2007 -> 11:04 AM) Wind blowing out doesn't favor us today. How so, all we hit are fly balls and pop ups, some of those should make their way into the bleachers.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 17, 2007 -> 10:50 PM) I still don't know what the f*** you expect from an internet message board. Apparently you're new to this whole internet thing because you still haven't figured out what sports message are for. If you're not playing armchair manager/GM then what's the fun of it? Lets hope not, if armchair managing/GM'ing were to be banned from the site this place would cease to exist. Yeah I know. Everyone has their own point of view, and most of the time things are brought up that others don't think about. I don't get why people complain about this on the internet. I am in my armchair right now.

Blind optimism with a slight bit of logic.
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 17, 2007 -> 10:44 PM) Just kind of curious on how many ab's you based those on? Anyways, even if most of our guys don't get to their career averages(some surely will), these guys will all hit better than they're hitting now. All of them. I took an average of their last 3 full seasons (-Gooch) and rounded to an even number. Most were around 500 - 475.

Blind optimism with a slight bit of logic.
QUOTE(Texsox @ May 17, 2007 -> 07:13 PM) Very good veteran players average out over a season. Every team hits a slump. Eventually veterans like Konerko, Dye, Gooch, AJ will come close to their career numbers, meaning they will have to heat up over their averages as much as they have been under. That's what you pay for in veterans over rookies (BA for example) All in all, at this point in the season, I am feeling optimistic based on three decades of watching the nation's pastime. This is what each player would have to hit the remainder of the season to get to their career averages: DIF Career Needed Konerko +90 (.281) .316 Dye +69 (.275) .300 Iguchi +58 (.274) .288 Crede +58 (.258) .278 Pierzynski +42 (.286) .299 Uribe +12 (.257) .260 Those numbers seem very reasonable and attainable.

QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 17, 2007 -> 08:07 PM) I think it has something to do with pitiful hitting. A sweep of the Cubs and this place might actually stop sounding like a bunch of armchair managers/GM's for a few days. Now you know that will NEVER happen.

Would anyone start Contreras over Danks Sunday?
QUOTE(joeynach @ May 17, 2007 -> 06:36 PM) Did I miss something Why are we talking about skipping starts or bringing somebody up, we have 5 solid starters dont we? Tue (played Wed) was Danks Wed was Contrertas Thu was Garland Fri is Buehrle Sat is Vazquez Sun back to Danks What gives? Ozzie is considering Contreras for Sunday due to the short rest. He is worried about Danks (and short rest). Also considered bringing someone up for one start (Broadway, Gio, Floyd), or even Masset.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ May 17, 2007 -> 05:47 PM) And Thornton has one..... 14 of our 20 wins have been "saved"... That's a high percentage thanks to our s***ty offense. Here's a list of our wins by more than 3 runs. 1. Buehlre's no-hitter 2. I'll get back to you... we're still waiting. 14 saves plus buehrle's no hitter and Contreras' comlpete game, means the other 4 wins which came by less than three either were of the walk-off variety (aj's literal walkoff) or bullpen manufactured close games (not in the good way) in wins pulled from the ashes of blown saves/holds. - 22 Quality Starts by the starters (Garland 7 straight with at least 7 IP) - 7 Blown Saves (Thornton - 3) - Bullpen has only allowed 8 HRs (3rd in AL) Run Distribution by Game RS Games Record 0 2 (0-2) 1 7 (0-7) 2 5 (1-4) 3 2 (2-0) 4 5 (4-1) 5 5 (3-2) 6 6 (6-0) 7 4 (3-1) 8 0 (0-0) 9 1 (1-0) 19-4 when the Sox score 3 or more. 1-13 when the Sox score 2 or less.

Craig Wilson released by Atlanta
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 17, 2007 -> 05:21 PM) Wow, how could Atlanta be sooooo stupid with those numbers? .172/.304/.259 overall this year .209/.320/.326 vs. LHP this year. The career NL hitter was an absolute wreck for the Yanks last season too. Put a fork in him Those numbers look like he would fit right in with the Sox. Actually his OBP is too high, never mind.
-
Craig Wilson released by Atlanta
Career .353 OBP and .827 OPS, lifetime vs LHP .290/.389/.527/.917 Only 30 yrs old. Would he be a viable backup against LHP?

Would anyone start Contreras over Danks Sunday?
The only problem I see with Jose was he pitched a late game on Wednesday, and would be pitching a day game on Sunday.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 17, 2007 -> 05:11 PM) since when did sweeping a team become illegal? I like winning series and all, and they're starting to play better, but dammit, I want to sweep a team for once. I think it has something to due with the lineup changes. Players can't get into a rhythm.

- AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
2 out of 3 vs the Bronx Bombers, I'll take it! Great game all around! 4 straight series wins (unbelievable with that offense)! Dye heating up. Gooch 4-4 in plate appearances. Its a start. Jon 7 straight starts with 7 or more innings - NICE!- White Sox vs. Yankees, 5/17/07 (W)
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 17, 2007 -> 03:55 PM) The word ROID can be made out of the highlighted letters.Sweet find.- White Sox vs. Yankees, 5/17/07 (W)
Big inning for Jon, Jeter-Giambi-Arod.- White Sox vs. Yankees, 5/17/07 (W)
That might be the fastest lineup we've fielded all year.- Molina to AAA
He was really pulling the team average down. Glad to get rid of that dead weight in the batting order. Now watch the offense explode for 2 runs!- Thome
He will more than likely be available to Pinch Hit, but thats it.- Is Joe Crede still better than A-Rod?
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 17, 2007 -> 11:21 AM) I didn't realize bad backs were contagious. The entire team seems to be affected. Actually: Konerko - Hip (Always) Dye - Leg / Back (4/25) Iguchi - Sprained Finger (4/08) Crede - Back (Always) Pods - Groin (Always) Thome - Ribs (4/25) Hall - Labrum (3/26) Cintron - Elbow (2/27) Mackowiak - Abdominal Strain (4/25) Anderson - Broken Heart (4/29) Floyd - Hurt Feelings (3/28)- Bears DE Alex Brown asks premission to seek a trade
Thomas Jones, Lance Briggs, and now Alex Brown. Something is going on behind the scenes. His contract is very cap friendly: 07 - $0.595 08 - $0.550 09 - $0.670 10 - FA- Is Joe Crede still better than A-Rod?
His back must be really messing him up. He probably should've just gotten the surgery. - AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
