QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 09:06 AM) Yeah Kelly Clarkson won an award over Mariah in an upset. Twice. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 09:06 AM) As for Mariah, trust me, I love a nice thick, curvy body as much as anybody....but Mariah and Beyonce are fat asses. Thick is one thing... jiggly, rippled cottage cheese with visable stretch marks is just plain gross. I have no problem with them being overweight... but for God's sake.. have some class. Think Queen Latifa.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11252372/ Briton arrested in deaths of wife, child District attorney's office in Massachusetts announces break in case Robert E Klein / AP MSNBC staff and news service reports Updated: 9:26 a.m. ET Feb. 9, 2006 BOSTON - Neil Entwistle, a British citizen whose American wife and infant daughter were found shot to death in their suburban Boston home, has been arrested in connection with their deaths, the Middlesex District Attorney’s office said Thursday. Entwistle was arrested by British authorities and faces murder charges, said spokeswoman Emily LaGrassa. “He is in police custody in England at this time,” LaGrassa said. London’s Metropolitan Police said Entwistle was arrested on a provisional extradition warrant issued Wednesday evening. The British Home Office said he would be brought before a judge, but declined to say when that might occur. Rachel Entwistle, 27, and 9-month-old Lillian, were found shot to death in a bed in their Hopkinton home on Jan. 22. Questioned last month Entwistle had recently returned to Britain, and did not attend a funeral service for his family on Feb. 1. Rachel and Lillian Entwistle were memorialized in the same Roman Catholic church where the baby was baptized less than two months earlier. A single wooden casket contained the remains of both mother and daughter. Massachusetts authorities flew to London late last month to interview Entwistle at the U.S. Embassy, but officials didn’t say whether he answered any questions. He had been labeled a “person of interest” at that point but not a suspect. District Attorney Martha Coakley and Hopkinton Police Chief Thomas Irvin planed a news conference Thursday morning to discuss the arrest. Police had searched the family’s home the day before the bodies were discovered, but did not see anything wrong, authorities said. Coakley has said that friends had showed up for a dinner party but no one answered the door, and that Rachel Entwistle’s mother called police when she couldn’t reach her daughter. After a missing person’s report was filed, police visited the home again. During the search, they detected an odor and discovered the bodies in the bedroom. Coakley has said the bodies were covered by bedding and “almost not visible.” Entwistle’s travel plans The killings drew intense media interest both in Massachusetts, where the family lived, and Britain. There has also been much media speculation about possible events leading to the murders. Neil Entwistle’s car was found at Logan International Airport near Boston and flight records show he bought a plane ticket to London 48 hours before the bodies of Rachel and Lillian were discovered. Autopsy results showed both the mother and daughter had been shot to death with a small-caliber gun. The bodies were found under layers of blankets in a bed in their home, about 30 miles west of Boston. The couple met while Rachel was studying abroad in England, and they had been married for three years. Neil Entwistle was looking for a job in the technology field; his wife was an unemployed teacher. Entwistle and his family had lived in the United States for about 4 or 5 months and began renting their home on Jan. 12. Relatives told investigators that the couple did not have a history of marital problems.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Feb 8, 2006 -> 11:20 PM) I think the biggest mistake in Bush's handling of the war on terrorism is our relationship with Pakistan. I dont believe that the Pakistani country is in line with what our goals are. I believe that Pakistan are doing more to help Bin Laden keep hiding. Mustraraf is afraid of an uprising and caters to extremist. I would of approached the mountains by both the paki boarder(after we surpressed their military by airstrikes) and then squeezed the mountain area creating a isolated zone. Now Bush aligned with Paki probably because Pakistan has nuclear weapons, and I believe that he probably weighed getting bin laden over toppling Mustaraff and pretty much guarenteeing that the nukes could get into extremist hands. I have a much simplier view on war, and it is probably good that I am not in charge. My view is when you go to war, you do whatever is required to win that war. Your responsibility is to save american lives, and do your best to limit civilian casualities. However now its changed. Because of the laser guided weapons and the first gulf war. People think that we can fight a war without any civilian casualties. Everytime the press shows a laser guided bomb missing the military base 100 feet to the left of Johns house everyone has a s*** fit. My view is if you live next to the ministry of defense and you know that a war is about to happen, f***ing move already. You are a dumbass and are a darwin award winner if you stay. If I was in charge I would have Ted Kennedy choking on his second helping of pumkin pie over my bombing campaign in the middle east. You should be lucky that Bush is in charge. LOL Hard to argue this one...

http://news.bostonherald.com/localRegional...rticleid=124590 By Michele McPhee/The Beat Monday, February 6, 2006 - Updated: 11:23 AM EST In the terrible days after his 20-year-old son was killed by an allegedly drunken driver, Boston cop Dennis Thomson prayed for a sign from his slain namesake. And he got one. It hangs over Fenway Park. The Red Sox’s newest billboard over Yawkey Way features three guys from North Quincy knocking knuckles with Trot Nixon in 2003 after he pounded a home run in the 11th inning to clinch Game 3 of the series against the Yankees. Joseph “Fitzy” Fitgerald is holding the home run ball he caught and is clenching it tight in his fist. His buddy, Dennis Thomson, is on his right, the brim of his Red Sox cap folded back to show his handsome face. Another friend, Neil Gavin, is screaming loud enough to reach the Green Monster. Thomson, a U.S. airman, looks absolutely ecstatic. Why wouldn’t he? For a guy who loved baseball even before he was old enough to play Little League, who later became the star of the South Shore Seadogs, what could be better than getting a high-five from Trot Nixon flanked by your best friends at Fenway? “After he died I prayed, God give me a sign that he’s OK. Well, we got a sign all right,” said Thomas, a 39-year BPD veteran who retired last week. “I feel like that’s my kid up there saying, ‘It’s all right, Dad. Don’t worry about me, Dad.’ ” Thomas saw the sign for the first time with his wife, Maureen, last Saturday morning. For a minute, the couple stood in front of it, motionless. What are the chances that out of the hundreds of games, the millions of fans in Red Sox nation, this would be the photograph chosen to sell tickets? “It scares me,” Dennis Thomson said. Maureen could barely breathe as they stared. The hardscrabble cop clenched his eyes shut as if the sheer motion could contain tears. They came anyway. “We cried for a long, long time. Then we looked at each other and started laughing. We couldn’t believe he pulled it off,” Maureen Thomson said. “Leave it to him to be the life of the party even now.” The Thomsons spoke about their son over lunch at Game On, which has now been deemed the family’s favorite restaurant. Nearly every table in the place has windows looking out onto the billboard, and nearly every member of the Thomson family has hoisted a beer to Dennis over the past week. “I look at that and know that my son did a lot more in 20 years than other people can do in 40, 50 years,” Maureen Thomson said. “He lived life, loved life.” Thomson was hit by an allegedly drunken driver on Oct. 30, 2004 - the same day Boston hosted a World Series victory parade for his beloved Red Sox. In fact, his father was working in the drizzle not far from Yawkey Way when he got the call that a drunken driver had slammed into his son’s Jeep, ejecting him, as he drove back to the Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida along a dark stretch of the Mississippi Gulf Coast highway after visiting friends in Biloxi. He lingered in a coma for weeks until he died Nov. 22. The 21-year-old U.S. Navy sailor who allegedly hit his vehicle is facing vehicular manslaughter charges for driving drunk. “I buried him in a World Series T-shirt,” Maureen Thomson said. “As distraught as I was, I bought one at the airport before I flew down. There is nothing he loved more than the Red Sox.” I’m sure the corporate hot shots in the Red Sox sales office did not know that the company’s latest billboard would be much more than a pitch to sell tickets - at least to a Boston cop and his family. Yeah, the cop said, it’s a sign. A divine one. “It makes me feel a little better,” he said, turning his head away to hide the moisture in his eyes. “I haven’t been asking why so much.” A scholarship fund has been created in Dennis Thomson’s name. Donations can be sent to the Dennis Thomson Fund at Bank of America, 636 E. Broadway, South Boston, MA 02127.

QUOTE(S720 @ Feb 8, 2006 -> 09:24 PM) You want to know why we attacked Iraq USING WMDs as alibi? Because we knew damn well that Iraq's WMDs were already destroyed by all the bombings we had on that country. Let's see if we will use WMDs justification on Iran or North Korea to attack them. The world knows they have them. I don't see us attacking them! Speculation...?

Not to get confused with the "Rap sucks" thread... I have not watched these for more then 10 minutes in years.. but I wanted to see the Madonna performance and happened to stick around to see Kelly Clarkson win the first award which had be hysterical since everyone was saying that Mariah the whale was going to sweep... I only wish they would have showed her reaction. I can imagine she dived into a ho ho between sobs.. oink, oink.. hehe. Then I absolutely LOVED it when U2 won for Album of the year after Kanye said "I better win or there "fixin" to be trouble"... LMAO. Way happy with Greenday winning. IMO, they get better and better with each CD. Didn't know anything about John Legend - good voice, seems genuine. Wonder if he'll get full of him self like Kanye eventually. Gorillaz - who makes up that group? Stevie Wonder - oye... that "you look so nice tonight" joke went out in 1981. Gwen Stefani is a beautiful looking pregnant woman. Jennifer Love Hewett - what's up with her head...? Has it always been that big or was it the hair do? Paul McCartney - loved yesterday.. loved it even more JayZ's contribution of "yea... yea... yea..." every 30 seconds.. Ok show.. waaaaay too long. And too much music. If I hadn't Tivo'd it and started watching at 9 I never would have made it.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 12:00 AM) I just think it's pretty lame to start a thread titled 'Rap Sucks'. It's a very popular form of music and I take offense when I hear a comment like that. Can you imagine the uproar if I started a 'Dave Matthews Band Sucks' or 'U2 Sucks' thread? Well.. the Dave Matthews Band does suck... Regardless... the title of the thread is pretty clear.. and if you don't have any purpose other then to come in here and s*** back on someone's opinion, then that's on you. Some rap does suck. So does some pop, country, rock, classic, etc, etc... Pretty lame to take offense to someone's opinion that didn't personally attack you, no?

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/showcas...mostemailedlink Bloodied body of Curious George co-writer found near his Boynton home By Jerome Burdi South Florida Sun-Sentinel Published February 8, 2006 Boynton Beach -- The body of a former producer and co-writer of the popular Curious George books and cartoons lay under garbage bags for more than 24 hours until it was found early Tuesday morning in the driveway of his home, police and witnesses said. Alan Shalleck, 76, was the writer and director of 104, five-minute episodes of Curious George, which aired on the Disney Channel. The episodes were adapted into 28 books. Shalleck co-wrote a series of books with Margret Rey, who created Curious George along with her husband more than 60 years ago. Shalleck worked at Borders Books & Music on Congress Avenue and Old Boynton West Road, but had not shown up for work in two days. Shalleck's body was found in his driveway at 4295 King Theodore Drive in Royal Manor Estates, a senior citizen retirement village just east of Military Trail and north of Gateway Boulevard. Police are treating the case as a possible homicide, a spokeswoman said, but have not released a cause of death. Neighbors said they had seen the garbage bag in the driveway Monday morning but thought it was trash. Police responded to an 8:30 a.m. call of maintenance supervisor Burt Venturelli, 62, who was going about his normal routine of taking out bags of trash from residents' front lawns. "I went to drag it this morning and said `this is a body, this isn't garbage,'" Venturelli said. He said the body was naked from the waist up. "I could see blood all over the place." There was a black plastic garbage bag covering his lower half and another his top, Venturelli said. The body was on a rug, he said. Neighbors described Shalleck, a Westchester County, N.Y., native as a quiet, friendly man who had a lot of company who would come and go. Shalleck gained local recognition as Gramps, the name he used while reading books to children in schools. "That was very important to him," said Shalleck's ex-wife, Joan Shalleck, 75, of Sun City Center. "Educators in the local schools encouraged that whole effort because they thought he was doing a very good thing, and he was." In 2001, Shalleck told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, "Gramps is a persona that transcends everything else ... I'm a communicator, not an educator. My main goal is to get them to love to read."
