    QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 09:20 AM) Shereveport is plenty north and west of NO. Thanks Mike. Worried a bit about a friends elderly parents.

    Hurricane Katrina

    QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 09:17 AM) How bad will this be compared to the hurricanes Florida had last year in terms of damage and potential cost? Here's a link to other massive hurricanes and the damage they caused. It'll be up there for sure. http://www.msnbc.com/modules/interactive.a...s&navid=3032127

    Hurricane Katrina

    QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 09:14 AM) Since New Orleans is built below sea level, and relies on man-made levies and canals to funnel out water, it's inevitable the city will experience a huge flooding disaster. I read in the paper this morning besides toxic sewage and industrial products coffins could be additional debris. Most are above ground for the reason of flooding, but if the water swells above 20 ft it won't matter too much. I always knew that - because when we visited there we saw the cemetaries and heard the stories of being below sea level, etc.. - but never really bothered to comprehend exactly what it meant. On another note.. how far is Shreveport from NO...?

    Hurricane Katrina

    QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 09:02 AM) If there were/are 1 million people still hanging around when that hurricane hit I have once again underestimated the stupidity of the human race. How can 1 million people possibly die from this hurricane? They had ample warning, and everyone should've gotten far away....That number is preposterous. That being the case, keep everyone in your I don't think they were referring to the immediate NO area. They keep mentioning the flooding. I think they are anticipating the surges to cause most of the casualties which I would guess could carry along the Mississippi River..? Someone... Maybe Jim... can you help with this..??

    Hurricane Katrina

    QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:58 AM) WoW. And they filled up the Dome for shelter for the poor and sick right. I think I heard 10 to 15K are in there. Hopefully it holds.. and doesn't flood too bad.

    Hurricane Katrina

    I really don't know who to believe, and I should stop watching and listening to it because it's freaking me out... But I've heard several times from last night and this morning that this storm has the potential to wipe NO off the map.

    Correction... http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9113550/ "Hurricane could leave 1 million homeless" I don't know if any of these reporters are on the same page..

    Hurricane Katrina

    QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:50 AM) Must be the metro area then, even so it was reported that 80% of NO evacuated, so maybe the number was 1 million people left? They said they would not be surprised to see 1 million + casualties from this hurricane.

    Hurricane Katrina

    QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:43 AM) There are only 500,000 people that live in New Orleans?!?!? I think you might have gotten some bad info. It was a report from FEMA, and they did say 1 million from NO to the Cape area. I'm not familiar with NO and it's surrounding areas so I have no idea of what the "cape" area is ...? But they did say 1 million. They also said that there's a 40% chance the Superdome won't survive.
  11. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 01:56 PM) That's an exaggerated statement with no laugh value at all. Yea.. my bad. I totally forgot the disclaimer... Attention: The following is a joke, only a joke, and should be intrepreted as such as I do not not know all the people on the Earth that might have a negative issue with Bush and been denied the opportunity to speak with him about those issues. Thank you, and have a wonderful day.
  12. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 09:22 PM) Explain why Bush should meet with people who insult him in the media. Why should he?! Dissent is fine. Insults and personal attacks are not............whats good for a message board is good for our president right?! If that was his policy he'd never be able to meet with anyone..
  13. QUOTE(wsox08 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 02:56 AM) Honestly, what is the problem with Curt commenting on this? Everyone comments on it, he just makes it public and he isn't wrong about it anyway... No problem.... cleared up those lingering questions of whether he was a hypocrite or not.
  14. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 08:48 AM) Excellent point. So she thought she had a way to pay the toll. She's not an idiot for not having a way to pay for the toll, she's an idiot for being in the wrong lane. Judges ruling? She's still an idiot. Play on. Thing is TEX.. here in Illinois if you don't have your I-Pass in the car you are told to still go through the I-pass lane and the $0.40 will be charged to your account. We just got reminder letters about this in June. No way she had an I-Pass. Yes.. still an idiot.
  15. QUOTE(56789 @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 11:41 PM) Maybe she is one of those people that have multiple cars and had her I Pass in the other car at the time and forgot to move it, so had to go through the cash lane. She did say she had an i pass. Yea, that could have been the case.. What that has to do with the question I'm not sure....
  16. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 05:06 PM) Hey...I'm f***ed up okay? LOL.
  17. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 05:04 PM) Nah, mussles gross me out And calamari doesn't...??
  18. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 04:59 PM) Strangely the only seafood I love is calamari Ever try clams or mussles..?
  19. QUOTE(mreye @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 09:01 AM) Tell the story. . Lady pulls in the far right manual lane just before the Roosevelt exit on 294 (where we get off) and starts digging in her purse before she even gets to the booth. Jim and I just look at eachother and laugh... 5 or 6 cars go and it's her turn... "hold on.. I got some change here....." 30 seconds pass... she hands him $0.30. He says $.50 more. She says no.. just a dime more. He says.. "cash is $0.80", I-pass is 0.40" She starts screaming at him.. "I have a GD I-pass". He walks back into his booth, picks up the phone and she keeps yelling. A supervisor comes over, takes her plate info and opens the gate - she keeps screaming "you better not send me a ticket for $.50 cents asshole...". he say's "go on miss" points forward telling her to have a nice day. All the while she is screaming. We just laughed. The toll guy apologized, but it wasn't his fault. It was pretty funny. But it got me wondering.. how on earth does a woman not have $.80 in her purse...??
  20. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 04:43 PM) I'm the EnviroCop, coming to bust yer ass. Do NOT eat swordfish or Chilean sea bass ever again. I'm surprised the Cali Earthcookie fish huggers (my peeps) haven't caught up with you yet. Eat farmed salmon if possible (and even that has its own environmental issues), and enjoy your ahi as long as it is yellowfin and not bluefin. As you were. Why don't they stop them from catching them...? Salmon.. ick. Too salty.
  21. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 04:31 PM) Passed right over that. Thanks.
  22. QUOTE(alexgtp @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 04:24 PM) I was wondering if any of you are the same as me. I have not missed a whitesox broadcast this year. If I am at work i listen to them on the radio. I the game starts befor i get home I have it on the tivo.. Heck I sometimes even listen to the game in the afternoon if it is an afternoon game and than i get home I watch the comcast replay.. WTF!! Issues I tell ya... Almost. TiVo it and you're there.
  23. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) Felix is going to run through this line up of ours ANyone else share this fear? :banghead Don't let Paul see this....
  24. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 04:13 PM) Wow -- I'm surprised this quote has generated so much anti-Paulie sentiment. I think he's a guy taking a leadership stand on a team that's fighting to stay on top. But that's just me. The quote is from the Southtown: Paul speaks... people complain. It's all his fault ya know.
