    Hurricane Katrina

    A thought... regarding anything left that's parishable.. they should just let people have it. The area is going to be ruled a total disaster area anyway and stores will be covered. Help as many as you can in terms of food and clean water is what I would do.

    QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 11:54 AM) In regards to the looting, I can kind of understand people taking food/water/supplies for their babies/kids (formula, diapers, etc.), but what are they going to do with water-logged electronics, clothes etc? I honestly don't even think they are thinking about that. Just taking whatever they can. Who knows how the criminal mind works.

    QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:57 AM) There's a lot of people good at being ignorant assholes, my dear. I see your point, but this was a harmless incident. I'm sure Brett Favre was thankful the gut helped out. I'm sure he was at the time. Wonder how he feels now that it's being played and replayed all over the place.
  5. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:27 AM) Hope we arent chasing that damn flush. Inside straight more like it...

    Hurricane Katrina

    QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:53 AM) It helped out both parties. I'm sure she was desparate to get word to Brett, and he saw a story in it. That's what a reporter does. Yes. Some of them are very good at being ignorant assholes. I bet he was pissed they couldn't hear what Brett was saying on the other end.
  7. QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 11:39 PM) um yea this tread should be deleted since they have a 7 game lead not a 6.5 game lead...get your facts right b4 u make a new tread buddy When he started the thread we were only 6.5 up. And should that be thread...?
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:44 AM) For those listening: was this just a little blurb by Mr. Zero, or has he talked about it a few times? He spent a few minutes on it. About the same as he did yesterday when he said the Sox would make no trades..
  9. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:42 AM) Eastern Time? Yea.. sorry.
  10. QUOTE(bulokis @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:39 AM) What time is the deadline? Midnight.
  11. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:26 AM) *sigh* Definitely sucks. But he's done so much. His tenure here will be talked about for a long, long time.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:18 AM) Did Levine specifically state the Sox were interested in Walker? Yes he did. Which means nothing.
  13. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:09 AM) I wouldn't even begin to argue that point. Of course he does. Apparently, you know more than you are letting on. It appears Frank is at a crossroad in his career. He's old and banged up. He's looking at the quality of his life at this point. He has 2 small children, getting married again in November which brings on the possiblily of more small children. I think he'd rather be able to play with his kids then possibly put himself in a position where just walking becomes a major chore. I think he'll make a decision sooner rather than later and it looks like retirement will be the choice.
  14. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:11 AM) It's a thought that has crossed my mind as I watched him. I'm not saying it's fact. Call it a theory. I know. I just think that as professionals they condition themselves to play. Combined with him playing more over the past 4 years I just think it's a stretch. Plausable, but a stretch. Hopefully they all get their second wind.. soon.
  15. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:01 AM) Wow. I'd really hate to see that. Frank deserves a better ending to his career. Frank deserves to be able to walk the rest of his life with as little pain as possible.

    Hurricane Katrina

    QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 09:58 AM) Anyone hear the Brett Favre angle to this story?? His family lives (well, lived) in a town in Miss. that was crushed and he hadn't been able to reach his Mom or any family members. I guess she got a hold of a TV crew covering the story and used their communication hook up to call Brett. They played the phone conversation on ESPN radio this morning. Yea. They've been playing it all morning. Glad that she found the crew and glad that they could help her get in touch with Brett. But what a bunch of assholes exploiting the situation. If it was Joyce Smith asking to use the phone to call her son would the reporter have let her...? Doubt it.
  17. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 09:28 AM) Hence the :rolly smilie. But I guess I should be a little more obvious with a joke, so that the ONE PERSON who didn't get it, gets it. I feel your pain Mike...

    It was still $2.81 for mid grade at Mobil in Plainfield this morning. As for NO, they are moving the people from the Superdome to the Astrodome.
  19. This morning Jim asks... "Did De Janeiro pitch last night... ?" I'm like who...? He's says again... "De Janeiro.....?" I laughed my ass of as I realized he was referring to Jeff...
  20. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 05:26 PM) Anything for you http://www.japanesebaseball.com/players/pl...sp?PlayerID=970 Thanks!! I don't buy being tired from playing somewhere new. Especially when he averaged 30 more games in previous years. I don't really know what "tired" looks like.. but he looks fine to me.
  21. QUOTE(TLAK @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 07:39 AM) Rooney said Sunday that Jose Valentin dropped in on Frank in Vegas and he seems to be leaning toward retirement. It's more than a lean.
  22. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 05:33 PM) Booyah. http://whitesoxpride.mlblogs.com/inside_th...eheader_th.html He was referring to Seattle, which Frank did not make. Regardless, look for a statement from Frank and the Sox in the near future... not good from what I've heard.
  23. Hey Rock.. where did you find his stats..? I know you're right and he's played way more games in the past and I agree with your assesment, but I was just curious where you found them. Thanks!

    Weather literally just changed here in Hillside. Sun is gone, temp's dropped at least 10 degrees and there is a nice breeze.
