Looks like she may have been telling the truth... http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/278613p-238542c.html Cosby hit with tale of tapes PHILADELPHIA - A Canadian woman who accused Bill Cosby of drugging and groping her reportedly taped phone calls with him after she reported the offense. Cosby initiated the calls, and they support her allegations, sources told the Philadelphia Daily News. The woman's attorneys turned over copies of the tapes to the Montgomery County, Pa., prosecutor's office a couple of weeks ago, sources said. On Jan. 13, she told Canadian cops the comedian drugged and sexually assaulted her in his suburban Philadelphia home in Montgomery County earlier in the month. She had been to dinner with Cosby and others, a Philadelphia police report said. Afterward, Cosby invited her to his home. She said she complained of "stress and tension," and he gave her some pills. She got "dizzy and sick," the report said. Cosby helped her to a sofa. After that, her memories are fuzzy, but she recalls Cosby "touching her breast and placing her hand on his penis," the report said. She said she awoke at 4 a.m. with "her clothing in disarray and her bra undone." Cosby and the alleged victim met through her work with the Temple University women's basketball program. Montgomery County District Attorney Bruce Castor is expected to announce next week whether charges will be filed.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 12:58 PM) I'll bet at that point, the team would have been suggesting the new treatment and hopefully a faster recovery. Unfortunately.. they were not given the choice to express their suggestions.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 12:32 PM) By yourself? Didn't you need a crane to pick that thing up? You are nasty.. :puke

ptatc... First, welcome to Soxtalk. Second.. thanks for the detailed and informative post.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 12:00 PM) Thanks Steff, even funnier Baltimore paying him. Whyis it funny..? IMO, the 2 are completely different. Albert was upfront about his condition, and Baltimore knew there was a risk - thus insuring it more than the norm. There was no way knowing his hip would go as fast as it did, but at least he didn't bulls*** the O's.
-
QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 11:36 AM) The team didn't have an injury out with Belle. Weren't we still paying him last season? No, and haven't paid him since 1998. Baltimore was paying 40%, insurance covered the rest. '03 was the last year.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 11:19 AM) I figure we can call them over to the suite and taunt them like the Frenchmen in Quest for the Holy Grail... LMAO!!

QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 10:43 AM) Yes you did and this is getting silly. Steff, you are correct, Maggs could have done this better, and IMHO the team could have done this better. However, bottom line, he was not going to be playing for the Sox again, no matter what both sides did. At the time contract talks ended, and with his previous 6 seasons, he was going to command top free agent dollars from someone. If he had not been injured, he really would have hit the jackpot. And the Sox are not a jackpot type team. My apologies as I thought you were referring to the "interesting behavior" comment. Silly...?? Maybe. Eye opening, that's for sure.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 10:33 AM) F you going Friday or Sat? If its Friday you need to meet up with us also. Eh.. we have to leave the suite...???

QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 10:22 AM) now it's none of your business. You first mentioned the lack of phone calls. I didn't. Now that that has been tossed aside, you wish to talk about my motivation LMAO. Your right I did.. noting that he didn't call them to advise them of his surgery. After I have said (three times in this thread alone) that him lying is my main beef with him. I didn't say a word about your motivation..

QUOTE(lvjeremylv @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 10:16 AM) Was? yuk, yuk, yuk...

QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 10:08 AM) Silly aren't they. Actually it was Guillen and Kenny. But then research isn't really necessary. Care to call Frank an ass? I was the woman, so I was there, and Ozzie never commented one bit during the time I was "scolding" Kenny, so I was not aware of his comments made after the fact. And I don't feel the need to call anyone an ass for not returning calls.. it's none of my business... and I question your motivation in making that the issue when I have clearly stated over and over again that it's because he lied that I don't have any respect for him any longer. You don't agree with me.. so be it. Interesting behavior here..

QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 09:51 AM) All these are false. They are Urban Legends, passed on and on. http://www.snopes.com/legal/lawsuits.asp No way...?
-
QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 09:43 AM) I guess Maggs took a play from Frank's playbook about not returning team phone calls. IIRC Frank didn't bother to return Ozzie's phone calls. So I guess Frank has no class also? Actually he didn't call Kenny back.. silly facts.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 09:22 AM) And a doctor who alledgedly is or at least was a White Sox shareholder. LMAO. Hysterical.
-
QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 09:21 AM) Besides worked out for the Tigers and passed a physical? Are you disputing that Kenny ever said Maggs knee wasn't ok? And where did Maggs get the name of the surgeon? Oh yes, a Doctor who was being paid by the Sox. Yet he REFUSED to work out or give the Sox his medical records.. Hell.. he didn't even bother to call them back when he was still legally an employee of the Sox. Real classy.. :rolly Yes, I am. Because Kenny's quote was "We don't know how Maggs knee is." Very different from "he knee is not fine", IMO. And Maggs told that doctor to keep that information from the Sox. Not to tell them. To deceive them. To lie.
-
QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 5, 2005 -> 08:56 PM) Probably as fast as Sox fans concluded he was a no talent greedy jerk. "no talent"... of all the things I have heard that isn't one I recall.

It's time once again to view the winners of the 2003 Stella Awards. The Stella's are named after 81-year-old Stella Liebeck who spilled coffee on herself and successfully sued McDonalds. That case inspired the Stella Awards for the most uniquely successful lawsuits in the United States for the year. Actually, joint awards should be given to the plaintiff attorneys and the flaming idiots on the juries who awarded anything at all to these morons--who deserved NOTHING!!!! The following are this year's winners: HONORABLE MENTION: A 19-year-old Carl Truman of Los Angeles won $74,000 and medical expenses when his neighbor ran over his hand with a Honda Accord. Mr. Truman apparently didn't notice there was someone at the wheel of the car when he was trying to steal his neighbor's hubcaps. HONORABLE MENTION: Jerry Williams of Little Rock, Arkansas, was awarded $14,500 and medical expenses after being bitten on the buttocks by his next door neighbor's beagle. The beagle was on a chain in its owner's fenced yard. The award was less than sought because the jury felt the dog might have been just a little provoked at the time by Mr. Williams who was shooting it repeatedly with a pellet gun. FIFTH PLACE: A Philadelphia restaurant was ordered to pay Amber Carson of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, $113,500 after she slipped on a soft drink and broke her coccyx! (tailbone). The beverage was on the floor because Ms. Carson had thrown it at her boyfriend 30 seconds earlier during an argument. FOURTH PLACE: Kara Walton of Claymont, Delaware, successfully sued the owner of a night club in a neighboring city when she fell from the bathroom window to the floor and knocked out her two front teeth. This occurred while Ms. Walton was trying to sneak through the window in the ladies room to avoid paying the $3.50 cover charge. She was awarded $12,000 and dental expenses. THIRD PLACE: Kathleen Robertson of Austin, Texas, was awarded $780,000 by a jury of her peers after breaking her ankle tripping over a toddler who was running inside a furniture store. The owners of the store were understandably surprised at the verdict, considering the misbehaving little toddler was Ms. Robertson's son. SECOND PLACE: Terrence Dickson of Bristol, Pennsylvania, was leaving a house he had just finished robbing by way of the garage. He was not able to get the garage door to go up since the automatic door opener was malfunctioning. He couldn't reenter the house because the door connecting the house and garage locked when he pulled it shut. The family was on vacation, and Mr. Dickson found himself locked in the garage for eight days. He subsisted on a case of Pepsi he found, and a large bag of dry dog food. He sued the homeowner's insurance claiming the situation caused him undue mental anguish. The jury agreed, to the tune of $500,000. GRAND PRIZE WINNER: This year's favorite could easily be Mr. Merv Grazinski of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mr. Grazinski purchased a brand new 32-foot Winnebago motor home. On his first trip home, having driven onto the freeway, he set the cruise control at 70 mph and calmly left the drivers seat to go into the back and make himself a cup of coffee. Not surprisingly, the RV left the freeway, crashed and overturned. Mr. Grazinski sued Winnebago for not advising him in the owner's manual that he couldn't actually do this. The jury awarded him $1,750,000 plus a new motor home. The company actually changed their manuals on the basis of this suit, just in case there were any other complete morons buying their recreational vehicles!

QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 09:02 AM) Read the article. Which quote was so bad? He's praising his new club. He points out that Kenny didn't feel his knee was solid. Gee, just like almost everyone here. Where did we get that idea from? From his Doctors? No, most people here are accepting what the Sox have said about his knee. Is there a reason you think there was a need to tell me to read the article..?? QUOTE "I don't think someone would sign me for seven years if my knee wasn't all right," Ordonez said. "That's one of the reasons I didn't sign back with Chicago. Kenny was burying me, saying my knee was not OK. It feels good to have an owner and a general manager who treat you like this." I can't speak for anyone else but when a person hides surgery from their employer, and lies about it, and tells a trainer on his employers payroll to hide it... that's where I get that there was/is something wrong with his knee. I buy the Sox story. Mainly because Maggs has done nothing to dispute it.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 08:53 AM) I agree. I just don't understand why a simple, it wasn't working, we are heading in different directions. Instead we have this pr battle that is stupid. You're right.. it is. And look who started it? Kenny was nothing but nice to Maggs. Even at Soxfest pouring on the Magglio love. And this is the return on that..? Class... well.. I'll agree with the last 3 letters.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 08:45 AM) I am not going to find fault in a player wanting to get the best contract he can. I also will not find fault in a team not being able to afford that contract and moving in other directions. What is asinine is instead of accepting that simple truth, we get this PR b.s. battle between the team and the ex-player. He got a better offer and moved on. The Sox found cheaper puzzle pieces and moved on. I'm wondering why the same fans that are ripping Maggs for wanting the best contract he could get, aren't ripping Hermanson for turning down the last offer his team offered and signing with the Sox? Isn't he a greedy SOB like Maggs? It's all relative. A guy out of work, thinks someone making $50,000 is greedy for quiting and going to a company offering $60,000. That guy thinks the CEO who is making $3,000,000 and complaining is being greedy. Personally, I think every player is grossly overpaid based on their contribution to society. I'm ripping him because he's an effing liar. Plain and simple.

Where in the hell did Kenny "bury" him...? He didn't say anything other than the Sox had not seen Maggs medical records. Kenny never said Maggs wasn't better.. he said he didn't know. Nice bulls*** spin by Maggs though.

QUOTE(Brian @ Feb 6, 2005 -> 12:11 PM) I thought both were pretty bad. I'm tired of the horror re-treads that have been made the past few years. All seem like the same thing to me. I rented "Ray", "Cellular", and finally "Anchorman". Haven't watched em yet though. Don't even know why I rented em cuz I think there is a football game I will probably watch today. We bought Ray and we saw Cellular already.. Even though Bassinger overacted a bit, I loved it.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 6, 2005 -> 01:04 PM) Quick question, where was the picture of Willie's jock? Or was it just too big to fit in the camera shot? Oh.. I snagged that for you.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 6, 2005 -> 10:02 AM) IMO it's ridiculous to pay that much for a ticket to a baseball game, but if people want to pay it, more power to 'em, who am I to say? For companies it's a tax write off. For those that drink or eat a lot it pays off. But for those that go to watch the game and only have a couple beers, it's a rip. Besides, Jim hates sitting behind the net so I doubt we'll sit there more than the 2 times we are scheduled to.
