KW on the radio Wednesday
It seems Paul is much closer to the block than Carlos. Losing Maggs, and Frank.. I don't think Kenny would be stupid and trade Carlos, also. If he does.. oye ve.. my finger is hurting already.

How would you react to Bonds' 756th HR?
I totally forgot all about the legs.

Anna Benson is on Howard Stern on TV right now
Thankfully.. I have not seen it. I've heard it's brutally disgusting. But I think it's hysterical to hear it.

Magglio's secret surgery
I love it... Boras: "The doctors' statements are that Magglio is ready now and will be absolutely ready by spring training,'' Boras said. " "Boras said that Ordonez's open workout, scheduled to take place this week in conjunction with the winter meetings in Anaheim, Calif., is no longer necessary and that all teams with a legitimate interest in signing Ordonez have been given all applicable medical records. " Sooo.. which is it..? He's ready.. or will be ready in 3 more months..? And if he's so ready now... why cancel the workout session... Sorry.. but if I'm about to pay an awful lot of $$ to someone who just had TWO surgeries I want to see it run, jump, and throw first. Boras :dips***

Magglio's secret surgery
Tex.. I'm done with this. You can ask me the same question 534 ways.. and I'm going to answer it the same. It's my opinion that as long as he was employed by the Sox he should have informed them of his plans. Plain and simple. How you or anyone else can make excuses for the ignorant behavior in not at the very least advising them - no matter if he was done playing for the year or not - is beyond me.. but not something I have no desire to debate about for the rest of the day. As for Frank.. I doubt very highly that the Sox - Jerry specifically - didn't know how Frank was doing. Jerry is this/close to being Frank's "father".

Magglio's secret surgery
He was under contract until midnight last night. He should have informed his employer of anthing relating to his physical health up until that point. He didn't.

Wrath of the Jocks
That's her problem. Within 4 months of "retiring" she redid their entire house (painting, knocked down a wall, remodeled a bathroom, installed hard wood flooring) and my uncle finally said.. "that's it.. get out of the house and back to work".

How would you react to Bonds' 756th HR?
Doesn't all the extra bulk slow them down..? I know the strength improves.. but then the size would get it the way.. wouldn't it? Isn't that why boxers don't take roids..? Golfers also?

If ya don't play.. you can't win.

Wrath of the Jocks
To be specific.. it's the pay rate of carpenters that's being discussed. I have no idea what Zero plans on doing that will allow him to retre at 35.. but I hope he shares his plan.

My aunt retired from the AF around then, only to return to private employment a few years later. She was bored she said.

I don't think he means retire.. I think he means doesn't do manual labor any longer.

Magglio's secret surgery
Actually, they are paid March 15th to November 15th. It's the way the fiscal payroll is set up. It's also why MLB clubs run their year end compensation closings to Feb 31.

Wrath of the Jocks
Well f***ing excuse me for making a comment before reading ahead. And if you want to get technical a contractor DOES have enough $$ at 35 if they play their cards right to employ carpenters - which is very different from a "roofer" - and do nothing while collecting a paycheck. Interesting how you altered your initial response..
-
Wrath of the Jocks
I don't know any carpenters older than their mid 30's. Most are contractors - meaning they own the company and employ carpenters. Don't know about you but I wouldn't mind doing some survey work and doing bids while collecting a 100K + salary (contractor salary).

Bad anaolgy. The average yearly salary of a union carpenter in Illinois is $78K. And they rarely work a full 12 months.

Magglio's secret surgery
What's different.. you just explained the exact same scenerio. And you're right.. they wouldn't be shocked... IF I told them I was going to have it. The benifits book was a tad bit of sarcasm by me - hense the " " And, although I don't care enough to waste energy calling him one, people have every right to call him an asshole and be pissed. It seems to be a trait of being a Sox fan. One more thing about his "new agent"... Maggs inquired with and aside from legal forms signed agreed to terms with Boras last winter. That, IMO, wasn't a very "honest" thing to do...

Magglio's secret surgery
The Sox not giving up information to the media is apples to the oranges of an employee not telling his employer about the need for surgery. That's like me failing to tell my boss I'm having hand surgery (when 90% of my job consists of me using them..). I mean.. they DID give me the benifits book with the doctors names in it.. right..??

Magglio's secret surgery
If they gave him the name to get a consult or second opinion.. I have no issue with that. Obviously he did take advantage of the contact.. the issue is that rather than come back to the Sox and say "hey.. Dr V told me I need more surgery.. just thought you guys, as my employer who signs my check.... should know...." he went ahead and did it without even a courtesy "this is what I'm doing guys..." Interestingly, I just got a referral for a chiro.. my friend raved about him. I went.. I also went to 2 others. Decided against using any of them. Just because you go for a consult doesn't mean you follow through with any proceedure.

Do you hang up on telemarketers...?
Woman Gets Threatening Letter After Hanging Up On Telemarketer El Paso Police Investigating Phone Call UPDATED: 8:41 AM EST December 8, 2004 A Detroit-area woman received a threatening letter in the mail after hanging up on a telemarketer calling from Texas, according to Detroit TV station WDIV. TELEMARKETER THREAT Video: Woman Describes Telemarketing Threat How Do You Handle Telemarketers? Read Threatening Letter Jill Beyer, of Waterford Township, Mich., said she received the letter about one week after she refused to donate money in a recent call from a telemarketer. "He wanted a donation for the veterans' association, which the veterans don't get that much of that money. That's why I wouldn't donate to him," Beyer said. Beyer (pictured, left) said the man refused to take no for an answer so she hung up the phone. "I slammed the phone very hard," Beyer said. The letter arrived postmarked from El Paso, Texas. The first lines read, "Before you are rude to another telemarketer, you should keep in mind that he or she has your phone number and your address. Many of them live in your own state and most don't give a (expletive)! " (Read Full Letter) "It makes me nervous. Obviously he's not playing with a full deck and even my kids are nervous," Beyer said. El Paso police are reportedly taking the threat seriously and are searching for the person who sent the letter.

Magglio's secret surgery
The Sox never knew he needed further surgery. They were not told. Maggs did not tell them. It can't be explained any more clear.
