  1. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 12:37 AM) I wouldn't necessarily be happy with Pennant Felix. The guy's an absolute nut off the field, and I think you guys overpaid. Apparently, he's loved Liverpool his whole life, so perhaps being there will make him more motivated to stay out of trouble. Plus, if it works out, he is a good guy to have on the wing with someone like Crouch waiting in the middle to use his head.
  2. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 02:48 PM) When did Joe Crede shave off the Mullett? I don't know, I asked but didn't receive an answer in the game thread. Either way, it sucks that he shaved it off
  3. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 06:53 PM) Latest rumors: Arsenal raised the price for Ashley Cole from $25 million Euro to 30m. West Ham is looking to sign Shaun Wright-Phillips from Chelsea. Chelsea offered William Gallas a 5 yr contract. Barcelona has dropped interest in Frank Lampard. Tottenham Hotspurs likely to pursue Pavel Nedved. Jermaine Pennant signs with Liverpool from Birmingham for 6.7m. AC Milan ownership is enfuriated with Real Madrid's attempts to lure Kaka to Madrid. Woo! Where do you get this stuff from? Is there a specific site (such as Rotoworld) for it?
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 04:32 PM) I said I was going to stay out of this thread, but I just wanted to comment on this. McCarthy isn't a fire-baller who can come out of the pen and dominate (like Zumaya). Rather, he's a "feel" pitcher, and his change-up and curve have been nowhere near as effective as it was when he was a starter. He's not a reliever, and I believe it's been very mentally challenging for him this season.
  5. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 04:33 PM) hHAHHAHAHAAHAHA. dont make me laugh. I can safely say, The way were playing, were going 2-4 vs said teams. Thats the problem. Im sure the SOX and some of their fans are thinking this right now "wait til we play Balt and KC, we'll catch up then" As long as those 2 wins are Friday and Saturday, I won't be nearly as pissed off as if they lost those 2 games.
  6. The fact that that play was even close at first is amazing.
  7. That AB looked good from the little that I saw of it.
  8. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 04:11 PM) Yeah, it's easier. For a first year reliever who has pitched on a schedule throughout his entire life, its not easier. As a reliever, you need to know that you can pitch nearly every game.
  9. QUOTE(iamshack @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 04:09 PM) How does he do with inherited runners? Before this game, he had 18 and allowed 4 to score.
  10. QUOTE(iamshack @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 04:07 PM) He started off just fine in April. He isn't that good. Yes, he did. He also had a great month of June and an average July. He had a horrible May, but past that, I don't see how you can complain.
  11. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 04:05 PM) I don't want to tell you that you are wrong and I am right I guess we just aren't looking at the same pitcher. Brandon's ERA is at 4 and he hasn't shined like last year. Syaing that though I think being a starter and not a reliever is where he should be at on this team. He hasn't been a relief pitcher before and I think has even said it has been a work in progress for him. ERA's by month April: 3.38 May: 6.14 June: 2.70 July: 3.72 Now, ERA isn't the best measure for relievers, and no, he isn't nearly as good as he was during the stretch run last year, but what do you expect from him? This is the first time he's ever pitched out of the pen for a whole year in his ENTIRE career. Its not the same thing as being a starter.
  12. QUOTE(iamshack @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 04:04 PM) Improve what? His pitching out of the pen has improved throughout the year. He had a crappy May, but outside of that, he's been good.
  13. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 04:01 PM) We don't have anyone in the farm system that has contributed like other teams have. McCarthy isn't that good from what we have seen lately, but with a chance at starting he might still blossom this year. He isn't that good? I've seen him do pretty well and improve as the year has gone on, I don't know what you're looking at.
  14. QUOTE(illinilaw08 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 03:57 PM) Remember in the 4th inning when it was a 3-3 game and Kyle Lohse was up in the bullpen? Those were good times. Yea
  15. QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 03:53 PM) who is this? http://www.bat-girl.com/archives/001609.php#more
  16. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 03:46 PM) I stepped away. Is B Mac in? why? Because he's a reliever and our starter had nothing left?
  17. I think we need fathom to start posting again. Things have gone pretty bad since then
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 03:36 PM) Some part of the fault has to fall on managers/coaches who make stupid decisions as well. There's more than 25 guys at fault here. Thats true, but at times people just put the blame on the coaches (Yes, I'm looking at you all of you who are asking for Walker to be fired).
  19. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 03:34 PM) It carried the team for half a season. The pitcher carried the team all of last season. So what? At some point, you have to put the blame on the players, both the pitching and hitting. They aren't getting the job done. Its not Ozzie's fault, its not Cora's fault, its not Walker's fault. The players aren't performing and the team is suffering because of it.
  20. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 03:32 PM) Must we keep having to come from behind? When will these highly paid pitchers show up and get the job done? I don't know, when will this highly paid offense show up and get the job done?
  21. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) they cant....if there was a way to bet i would Yea, the fact that we did in game 1 means nothing apparently.
  22. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 03:29 PM) Called it........and ballgame Yea, this team can't score off of Lohse. Especially not with 5 more innings to hit in.
