QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 05:30 PM) It's funny, but if he wins the GG this year, it will be more because of what he's doing on offense than it is defense. Crede had a better defensive last season, in my opinion. Our 3 best all-around players this year have been Dye, Crede, and Konerko. You know I'm calling you that or Curt the reason of the season. His defense was MUCH better last year. It's good this year, but its nowhere near the caliber it was last year.

QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 04:19 PM) Ichiro is going to be a 1st ballot HOF. Book It. If he plays 4 more years at the same quality of play that he is now, then yes. But if those 4 years are worthless, then no, I doubt he will be.

They are basically twins, separated at birth. I know, thats not what this thread is about, but I had to say it. They look incredibly similar.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 01:53 PM) Ortiz is the best in the AL, we'll just say. That way, there shouldn't be any argument. I would argue that, but I'm too lazy/tired

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 12:26 PM) Off topic, but Ortiz is baseball's best clutch hitter. Pujols > Ortiz

The Red Sox might be interested in signing Chris Widger according to the Boston Globe: http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/reds..._least_a_month/

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 10:29 AM) My uneducated lineup prediction is, as follows: Pods 7 Iguchi 4 AJP 2 Dye 0 Crede 5 Gload 3 Uribe 6 Mackowiak 9 Anderson 8 Took me awhile to figure out what the numbers were supposed to be Interesting thought though.. that outfield defense wouldn't be too bad, and I like Dye at DH.
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 11:09 AM) Why are we replacing Uribe next year? Apparently because he's one the worst batters in the league. I, for one, think he's a perfect fit on the team since the pitchers are contact pitchers, and rely on superb defense to help them out. Just me though. His offense isn't the best, and his eye is horrible, but he's streaky and he has the ability to carry the team when he's hot.

QUOTE(champ @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 10:56 PM) That's nice. He's also had a fair amount of games where he was our only offensive threat. Don't even bring up crap like that. Yes, how dare I make an observation. I wasn't saying he was bad this year, nor was I trying to take anything away from his spectacular year, I was simply pointing out a fact.
-
Dye has had a fair amount of 3 strikeout games this year.

QUOTE(My Dixie Normus @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 10:52 PM) I wasn't serious. Considering the amount of hate Pods' gets for his defense around these parts, you came off sounding serious. My mistake if you weren't.
-
QUOTE(My Dixie Normus @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 10:48 PM) Neither has Pods. Wait, he has. Putting Fields in LF in the majors right now before he's played it in the minors would be incredibly foolish, and similar to putting Konerko out there.. except without the offensive production.
-
QUOTE(My Dixie Normus @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 10:45 PM) Let him play left. Yes, because he's done that before. Wait, no he hasn't
-
Very good call by Ozzie not putting in Jenks. He's not a 4 out or more pitcher.
-
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 10:35 PM) Gotta bring in Jenks. You do that and he'll let up at least one in the 9th inning. Book it.
-
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 10:32 PM) Why was Pods just jogging there... He's not even in the field right now..
-
Sandy hasn't been that bad since coming over, he's doing well in fact.
-
Wow.. that was a spectacular play
-
Please don't try to steal Pods.
-
Good hustle by Cintron there

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 09:12 PM) 2-2. Buehrle struggling but not totally dead yet. 2 run home run by Reggie Sanders, solo shot by Crede, double by Crede & RBI double by Alomar. QUOTE(G&T @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 09:12 PM) Sanders with a 2 run homer. Back to back doubles by crede and Alomar scored one, then a homer by Crede scored the second. Thanks

Just got home from work, anyone want to summarize the game thus far?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 03:10 PM) He got picked off, that is absolutely nothing to be proud of, Conine made a horrendous throw. More often than not the firstbaseman makes a decent throw and he's dead. I wouldn't be using him getting picked off as an example of how disruptive he is on the basepaths. He got picked off, yes, but Conine likely (I cannot prove this, nor can anyone else really besides Conine himself) made a horrendous throw to second because it was rushed, which can be attributed to Pods' speed, or at least Conine's opinion of it.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 03:03 PM) It just seems like such a stark contrast looking at what Pods brought to the table in 2005 compared to this year. It isn't even close. And that still doesn't prove anything. It just means that the pitchers are making less mistakes when throwing over to first, it doesn't specifically prove that Pods is in their heads or not. Its not like he has some magic power that he looks at the pitcher and suddenly the pitcher throws it away. A better way to look at it would be to see how many times a pitcher has thrown over to first (or second) with Pods on base this year, and compare it to the number of times that happened last year. I don't have those numbers, nor do I really care enough to do the research to actually compare them.
