  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 11:29 AM) Completely disagree. He appeared upset at alot of the no-calls against the Gophers which was somewhat warranted, but also I thought he was more frustrated with the complete s*** show that surrounds him on his team. I would be pissed too if I had to play with the garbage that surrounds him day to day. I cant wait until this roster is completely turned over next season. The refs yesterday were awful, no disagreeing there, but they were awful for both teams. There were plenty of no calls that went against the Gophers, and there were plenty of plays where Turner got phantom calls. Turner looked like he got especially pissed off in the second half when he continuously tried dribbling through the trap that he'd walk into at half court every time up. It took him a long time to realize that he couldn't take the ball upcourt himself every time, and by the time that happened, the Gophers had already taken a commanding lead in the game. Turner is an incredibly talented player and he's probably going to be a great pro, but the b****ing and moaning gets old after awhile. It's one of the reasons that I hate watching LeBron and the Cavaliers play, it seems like all he does is complain. That's all I'm saying.
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 9, 2010 -> 06:53 PM) Gopher win at home, what was the big surprise about that? You wish you had a player the caliber of Turner. It was his second game back from breaking bones in his lower back, give him some time and then we'll see what he does. Yes, yes I do. He's incredibly talented (easily the most talented player on the court today, despite the fact that it took him a bit to realize he can't dribble past the press), and I seriously hope the Timberwolves draft him next year. But none of that changes the fact that he's a whiny b****. Also, I never said it was a surprise that we won. I said it was huge, which is completely the case. If we had lost to the Buckeyes at home, our tournament hopes would have decreased severely, given our rather rough non-conference record. We can't lose games like today's at home during conference play, and I'm glad the team realized that in the second half.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 08:31 PM) I am looking forward to this movie. Anything that has Nick Cage sporting a mustache and a superhero costume is a winner.
  4. Does Mizzou still play 40 minutes of hell? I always love watching their games, although I can't say I catch as many as I'd like.
  5. Huge win for the Gophers today over Ohio State. It was a pretty tight first half, but the Gophers pressured the s*** out of Turner in the second and really took over. Hoffarber had 27 points and seven three pointers, while Al Nolen had one of his best games of the year with 11 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds, 4 steals and just 2 turnovers. Evan TUrner is going to fit in just fine in the NBA. He was b****ing and moaning after every call that went against him today, as expected.
  6. Big game for the Gophers today against Ohio State. If we want to make the tournament this year, we have to win games like these at home. I don't think we're a lock at this point, so these games are going to make or break our season.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 01:58 PM) I dont understand why people argue with TRU anymore. When he says he is right and its his opinion, he doesnt budge No way. Trading for Daunte Culpepper was a great move by the Dolphins. Just look at how great it worked out
  8. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Jan 6, 2010 -> 10:39 AM) I was at the game, it was pretty ugly on both ends from what I saw. JJ is difference for Purdue. Unfortunately for them, they have no depth after him. If he gets in foul trouble, I can't see the guards carrying them past a good, well coached team. I was impressed with Minnesota's Johnson as well. Damian Johnson is fairly awesome defensively, but he leaves a lot to be desired offensively. He's definitely a candidate for Big 10 defensive player of the year after getting robbed of it last year.

I'm a fan of Jack Black (mostly because of the D and High Fidelity), but I couldn't stomach Nacho Libre. I watched part of it before just turning it off.
  11. Gophers got predictably worked last night against Purdue. We hung around for awhile, but our offense was too inconsistent to get anything done. I think we've got a chance against Purdue when we play them in Minneapolis, but we're going to need to shoot a lot better than 31%.
  12. QUOTE (JuiceCruz16 @ Jan 4, 2010 -> 02:10 PM) I got some last second free tickets to drive down and catch the Purdue/West Virginia game Saturday. Purdue really throttled W. Virginia defensivly, and Mackey arena was rockin'! I was impressed with the atmosphere. Tuesday with Minnesota in town should be a stern test for the Golden Gophers in Mackey. I will be back down there for the Ohio State game next Tuesday to cheer on E'twaun and the rest of the Boilers. I don't expect the Gophers to win, especially with Ralph Sampson likely out again with a sprained ankle. I like our small lineup, but I don't think we've got the depth right now to compete with Purdue on the road.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 3, 2010 -> 01:14 PM) Beating Iowa right now wouldn't be a feather in the cap of North Shore Country Day High School right now. They are awful. Oh, I know. Iowa looked absolutely terrible.. it was pretty painful to watch their offensive possessions for the most part.
  14. Gophers rolled over Iowa today, 86-74. Although that only looks like a 12-point win, it was never in doubt and the Gophers basically had their way with Iowa from start to finish. Hoffarber had another great game, while the press really tore apart the Hawkeyes for most of the first half. It's always awesome to watch an effective full court press, especially when it's done by Al Nolen and Damian Johnson.
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 2, 2010 -> 07:57 AM) Did he release another youtube vid? Not that I know of, thankfully.
  16. Royce White was at the most recent Gopher practice, so it sounds like he's not completely done yet (surprise surprise).
  17. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jan 1, 2010 -> 04:35 PM) Tempe was covered in cardinal and gold last night. It's a shame they had to watch what was almost certainly an awful game.
  18. Congrats on the win, Heads. That looked like an awful game on so many levels. I'm glad I couldn't/didn't watch it.
  19. QUOTE (SockMe @ Dec 31, 2009 -> 01:05 PM) This was prolly already talked about but I love the way Hightower runs up to the player that commits the foul then vigorously points. http://deadspin.com/5148836//gallery/gallery/1
  20. Gophers beat Penn State yesterday 75-70 to start off the Big Ten season on the right foot. It was a little closer than desired, but Taylor Battle is just that good. On the other hand, Lawrence Westbrook was just as good, if not better, scoring 29 points on 11/16 shooting. When he gets into his zone, he's really pretty tough to stop (of course, when he gets in that zone, he also stops looking for his teammates).
  21. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 28, 2009 -> 10:34 AM) Those games include Uncharted, Uncharted 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, CoD 4: Modern Warfare, etc etc. In the history of gaming, there has never been a game to completely hold someone's interest forever, it just won't happen. If you pick and choose, however, you can do fine. NBA Hangtime disagrees.
  22. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Dec 22, 2009 -> 08:50 PM) I don't see how the philosophy is god awful, at least with your god awful explanation. Oh well, I know what I saw when Javy was on this team. It's all about sample size. There are plenty of great pitchers that have gone through bad stretches, and there are plenty of s***ty pitchers that have had a couple of good games. Just because a pitcher had a bad month or two doesn't mean he's an awful pitcher. I'm not saying Vazquez is going to repeat what he did last year, because that'd be pretty unlikely, but he's a pretty solid pitcher and a very good 4th option in a rotation. He gets way too much hate from Sox fans. Your argument about putting up numbers "when it counts" would basically discredit all of Tim Raines career, which is one of the best for any leadoff man in the history of the game. Despite that, he only hit .270/.340/.349 and got thrown out half the time he tried to steal in his postseason career. Does that mean he was a bad hitter who couldn't steal a base? Most certainly not.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 22, 2009 -> 08:49 PM) Im pretty sure it is all tongue-in-cheek humor about superheros. Not quite "Superhero Movie", but still sort of poking fun at the genre ala Crank and Crank 2, which were awesomely bad movies. I tend to enjoy a lot of movies that I define that way, and I'm sure I'll enjoy Kick Ass if I see it (and I probably will). Upon further investigation, it's done by the same director that did Layer Cake, which was quite enjoyable. I'll definitely see this when it comes out.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 22, 2009 -> 07:21 PM) It looks awesomely bad. Pretty typical Nick Cage flick
  25. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 21, 2009 -> 09:33 PM) So where does that rank amongst 2nd half blown leads in NBA history. It has to be near the top if not the biggest blown lead ever. It's worse than the Timberwolves/Mavericks game from last year. The Wolves were up 29 in the third before managing to blow it. That game sucked. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/recap?gid=2008123006&prov=ap
