  1. Danks has it working. I guess the Indians' offense helps.
  2. Ramirez hits a missile to center but caught. 1-0 Sox.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 02:18 AM) Tigers are scary. Twins are amazing. I think Detroit is the team to beat and will probably win the division. Hope I'm wrong. On June 1, the Sox were 6 games ahead of the Tigers. On July 1, after the Tiger's hottest month, they are...5 games back...after sweeping the Sox. They have a long way to go.
  4. Peralta with a missile to left. 9-6. This is an awful inning.
  5. Cabrera with a bad throw, but Swish tags the runner. Geez.
  6. Crede boots an easy grounder. Dove for no reason I think
  7. Heads up by Swish and Floyd. The defense has been great tonight.
  8. Uh Hall called time well before the pitch.
  9. QUOTE (Elgin Slim @ Jun 30, 2008 -> 09:20 PM) Yeah, I noticed a few pops at 92-93 with the FB and he's staying at 90-91 with the sinker. I was wondering what happened to the 93-94 mph heat he was throwing last September. Nice to see that he still has it in him. Maybe his velocity gets better as the season goes on. Coop. Sacrifice velocity for control.
  10. This game better end in regulation. Yankos and Mets start in 15 minutes.
  11. Hey, doesn't everyone love Ron Santo?! So courageous!
  12. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jun 28, 2008 -> 06:38 PM) That State Farm commercial just made me puke. Thank you. Isn't that the LAST thing Cubs fans do? Rather throw the ball back than give it to the kid.
  13. btw for any out of market people who haven't figured it out yet, the Yankees and Mets are delayed so the Sox are on.
  14. QUOTE (jackie hayes @ Jun 28, 2008 -> 12:43 PM) It seems that that angle played only a small part in the Court's reasoning, though. Even if that weren't true, they would have struck it down (apparently). Well, on page 35, after considering the difficulties in prosecuting a child rape case, at the end of the opinion, the Court stated: So, according to the Court, the death penalty would not have been struck down if everything were not considered together. Whether that's true or not, I don't know. And I'm not stating that the decision was right or wrong, I was merely adding a practicality to the discussion.
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 27, 2008 -> 10:51 AM) As many or more? Where did you pull that number from? I shouldn't have used the word charges, but "accusations." There are no reliable numbers unfortunately so I won't bother posting what you can find on a simple Google search, but if you look into law reviews you can see the problem of false rape reports and the lack of quality information. I worked for the DA's office in homicide and special victims. Had quite a few child rape cases unfortunately. There is no question that what you are quoting is my opinion, but it is based upon conversations with ADA's working those cases and the problems in prosecuting them.
  16. The problem is that in these rape cases, there are as many or more false charges by a pissed off ex-spouse or whatever than genuine charges. Meanwhile, children are very difficult to get reliable testimony out of. No matter what they say some doctor will give a reason for why the testimony was the result of mental trauma caused by sexual abuse. Also remember, DNA evidence usually won't come into play because the child won't say anything until it's too late. Just my 2 cents.
  17. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 06:16 PM) You should have a Soxtalk wallpaper as your background. There's a schedule on it. Well I was at work, so I couldn't have watched it anyway.
  18. Didn't know they were playing...again.
