Gardner really doesn't have a place with Granderson there. Even more so if Matsui and Damon return.

The Red Sox had to pay $9M out of $12M to move Lowell, and the Cubs expect to move Bradley and get an actual return without paying most of it. We'll see how that goes.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 04:17 PM) Post a link if you can, because I haven't seen anything like that. Hurliman stopped brewing Samichlaus in 1997, and then the Austrian brewery began producing it again using the original recipe in 2000. They have kept with the original tradition of only brewing the beer once a year, on the Feast of St. Nicholas, December 6th. This is one of my all-time favorite big beers, and as far as I can tell the new brewery is doing right by it. I can't find it. It was an article on Ratebeer that I saw at some time in August. But I can't find the exact article anymore (there is one from 2001, but that's not the one I recall). Of course, it is possible that I'm making all of this up. In any event, I trust you are right. I've never had it.

QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 02:17 PM) The $$$ makes a Quentin for Crawford swap pretty difficult. Now, if the Sox add in Jenks, and the Rays add in some young cheap talent, it might start to make some more sense. They aren't going to pay Jenks and Soriano. So, I wouldn't count on this one happening.

Happy Birthday! But wheres the shout out for the 102 year old "soxmagnet"?

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 08:37 AM) No it's still in production, but not by the original brewery (Hurlman). It's now made by Brauerei Schloss Eggenberg in Austria. Thomas Hardy is not being made anymore, sadly. I knew there was something going on with Samichlaus because I think I read that you want to seek 2005 and earlier vintages.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 12:16 AM) I'm surrounded by Christmas decorations and drinking a 2005 vintage Samichlaus beer. Really, does it get much better?* * The 2004 Thomas Hardy Ale calling to me from the vintage beer stash says it just might. Samichlaus isn't made anymore correct?

QUOTE (NIUSox @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 05:36 PM) And it's 30 minutes not .5 hour dammit. er wait...is it damn it?

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 04:55 PM) I wish someting other then conjecture would be flotating around about the Sox, right now. but as we know KW always works in under the radar. This has been a pretty boring winter meetings for most teams.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 05:24 PM) That is the school in Atlanta right? My best friend is there right now. He gripes about it all the time. How'd you like it? He's trying to transfer elsewhere. I'm guessing he means John Marshall in Chicago.

Albany Law School. Came here on a full scholarship and graduated in May. There are no jobs (I got screwed out of a job at the firm I clerked at for 2 years) so I'm getting my LL.M. My interest is public sector labor law, and I'm working at a govt agency in that area while getting my LL.M. just to network and ride out the economy a bit. Hopefully things improve, but you are probably coming in at the right time.

QUOTE (The Beast @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 03:06 PM) In reality, how much is Pods looking for? 3 years, 12 million or something? I think he wants 2 yrs, $15M. I can't remember where I heard that.

At the Score update: KW says there is more being reported about the Sox interest in Matsui than actually exists. He won't comment on whether they are pursuing him because he doesn't know how the rest of the off season will go.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 12:55 PM) The snow has literally drifted over my car hood. Of course, we have idiots double parked in our apartment parking lot, preventing them from clearing it out. I'm snowbound. If it makes you feel better, my fiancee took 1.5 hours to make a 25 minute commute to work. A friend took 3 hours to make a .5 hour commute. I think you should enjoy your time indoors.

How did I miss that the Yankees will cut payroll to $185M? NESN

QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 08:31 PM) It really depends on the price. About Matsui's salary - I just don't see us paying him $4-6 million annually and him taking such an offer. He'd want at least around $8-10 million a year. In NY, they have been saying that Matsui will only command $5M in the US or he can go back to Japan if he wants more. The Yankees are not interested in resigning him.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 04:48 PM) Well there are all these crazy rules about contacting potential clients and people, and Im not 100% sure what the rules are with regard to posting on a message board. I have no problem giving opinions that have a disclaimer, but I just wasnt sure where it was going so I wanted make sure that I didnt some how get myself into trouble. Anyways, as for opening a sports bar, that shouldnt be to difficult. The biggest obstacles will be obtaining the appropriate liquor licenses. Ive done this for a liquor store in Chicago, its just annoyingly time consuming. The potential client is soliciting an attorney. There is no problem. YOU can't solicit HIM (even on a message board). Obviously a disclaimer is appropriate so that he knows no binding relationship is established.
