    Dog Issues

QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 09:44 AM) Unfortunately for me, my dog has no objections to using her crate as a toilet. I will ignore the bell when she's ringing it ten minutes after she just peed. I want her to learn to hold it, not release the second she feels it. Is she from a breeder or a pet store?

    Dog Issues

I am currently housebreaking a 2 month old puppy. He physically shouldn't be able to hold the urine for more than like 20 minutes, except that he NEVER goes in his crate. If he isn't in the crate, then we are outside very frequently. I don't know if you crate trained the dog, but it will teach the dog to hold it until he can get outside. My question is, why are you ignoring the bell? Is it accidental, or are you trying to teach her to hold it? If it's the latter, then you should be using a crate or some small room where the dog will be less likely to go (a den, essentially).
  3. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 04:12 PM) Another factor to consider is the technological advances, in film, lighting and photography. And Photoshop. These days, "hot women" in magazines are barely even human beings
  4. QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 12:09 PM) Good for the Reds. Glad to see him go to a team outside of your big markets, even if it is a horrible contract. If Chapman shows he can start out of the gates in the spring and the Reds sign a bat they can compete in that division. Someone like Cabrera or Tejada would fit in since they don't have a SS really. It's a smart move for him, actually. It's guaranteed that he will get a shot in the bigs even if he doesn't prove his worth in the minors. For that money, the Reds will have to bring him up.
  5. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 03:33 PM) I certainly didnt mean to say that beauty has never been important. I just dont think there was as MUCH of a pressure to look good. Might be true. Mass media certainly makes people want to look better.
  6. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 03:30 PM) I think it's also the "look" of the era too. Many of the women posted above might not be deemed attractive because the pictures and styles are so old. But if they were alive today and those pictures were retaken in today's styles and clothing, we would probably be drooling over them all over again. No question.
  7. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 03:27 PM) I think part of the reason is that the culture of today is so beauty centric. We glorify those who are "hot" and mock the "nots". However, 50 or 100 years ago, women went expected to be hot, they were expected to be good house keepers who raised the children, cooked the meals, and cleaned the house. That argument might be acceptable in conservative cultures but focusing on beauty is nothing new. Ancient Egyptians wore makeup and wigs.
  8. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 03:21 PM) Interesting topic, I was discussing this with friends the other day. It seems like women get hotter and hotter. IMO, today's women in general, famous and also every day women, are hotter than at any point in history.... and it's not just because of cosmetic surgery. Well that's based on cultural ideals of beauty. In every era, the women are hotter than before because things change. However, I think some of these women in this thread are every bit as hot as women today.
  9. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 04:00 PM) Ah, Vertigo is a favorite for sure, and yeah, she was a tall drink of water as Jimmy Stewart might have said. I don't get the Vertigo love. It's not a bad movie, but it's really long, and the ending isn't that great. But I guess there is a different thread for this discussion.
  10. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 08:22 AM) You have fine taste in women. Those are the two most beautiful women in American film history. Grace Kelly in Rear Window and Dial M for Murder...and To Catch a Thief is simply stunning. And yeah, Ingrid Bergman in Casablanca steals scenes just by being there.
  11. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 05:38 PM) Of course not. KW didn't wait and he ended up losing and now we have one of the worst offenses in the majors and Andrew Jones as our DH. Ugh. The very fact that the White Sox would be another option for his services automatically raises Pods' value. And in any event, Pierre is better and healthier than Pods. I don't see how having Pods would suddenly make them better than "one of the worst offenses in the majors."
  12. According to the Daily News, NBC is giving Conan the choice. But here's what's interesting: Linky If Conan stays, when would his show even be? 12 rather than 12:30? That might not be a bad slot actually. But does that officially kill the Tonight Show?
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 08:52 AM) What do 10 year old girls have going on that occupies their time so much? Well, how about school? Then any clubs, band, choir, sports whatever other after school activities they might be involved in.
  14. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 08:37 AM) I feel very strongly about the following subject.... I've had about 3 or 4 MOM'S ask me to buy girl scout cookies from their daughter, even bringing the order sheet to me. When I was in little league and other things, I went door to door to try and sell stuff to raise money, my parents NEVER took my sheet to their jobs or anything like that. I told these ladies if their kids come and ask me personally, I would order a box or two. Get them to do the work! I don't have children, but I am going to guess that most kids today have more stuff going on than we did at their age. I would be surprised if the kids have time to come and actually sell that stuff. On top of that, parents aren't going to let the kids go door to door anymore. Too dangerous, unless the parent's go with them, which they might not have time to do. And they aren't going to skip school to come to their parent's work. In principle, I think you are right. But I won't fault parents until I have to raise kids myself.
  15. QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 7, 2010 -> 07:20 PM) I don't know if Leno was an official lead in show. The news is in between them. Well Leno was the lead for the local news which has been killing local affiliates. That couldn't help Conan.

    Remember when...?

QUOTE (Rooftop Shots @ Jan 6, 2010 -> 08:31 AM) I remember it when it "WAS" a penny. The local Ben Franklin store had a huge bin to choose what you want. If you had 50 cents, you'd put 50 pieces of candy in a brown paper bag, go the counter, and the cashier wouldn't even count it. They would just ask you..."How many you got??" You told them and then pay for it. On the counter, they used to have a huge matchbox car display. THE ORIGINAL ONES that were made in England. Whenever I had a little money. I always had a hard time deciding whether to buy candy, or a matchbox car. Ah yes. I remember riding bikes to Ben Franklin and getting a bag of jolly ranchers and tootsie rolls. But the big thing were those gum balls that coated your mouth with color and came in the paint can. I think they were called Splashers. And Airheads were also a fashionable candy.

    Remember when...?

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 05:35 PM) Interesting - where can I get it? Keep in mind I'm south of the mason-dixon line. hmmm...a quick look at the website tells me it's only available in stores in NY and NJ, which I didn't realize. It's available at a bunch of places online. Of course, if you hate it I'll feel bad.

    Remember when...?

QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 10:15 AM) I remember something that thankfully came back recently...It's a Wonderful Life was on once a year, only on Christmas Eve. If you missed it, wait 'til next year. Then, a few years back, it was getting like a TBS movie of being played ad nauseum. Thankfully, NBC (I think) bought the rights and went back to X-Mas Eve only. Recently? NBC bought those right more than 10 years ago I think, you old curmudgeon But I remember WGN running it multiple times a night. God that was annoying. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 10:15 AM) I remember when FOX was WFLD Chicago 32 and would show reruns of Laurel & Hardy, The Little Rascals, and Blondie. It's amazing what Fox has become after its start as a fuzzy station in my cable-less world along with Channel 50 (WPWR).
  20. We have 2 drive ins around Albany. I've only been to one, but it's a ton of fun. Bring your own food and you don't have to deal with people. Right up my alley.

Remember when missing something that happened on TV meant you would never get a chance to see it?
