  1. Ok so what's the deal with Flowers? I've read recently a blurb that the Sox will likely sign AJ because Flowers appears to be lost. Cowley was just on the Score and said the same thing. So what's really going on? Boers is actually talking about it right now.
  2. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 03:21 PM) The John McDonough (sp?) philosophy is looking to be as successful for the Hawks as it was for the cub. Use high priced free agents to market your winning mindset, watch ticket prices sky rocket. He is percieved as a genius for resurrecting both organizations. The thing is, he does not spend money wisely and cripples the franchise but he builds enough of a "scene" that the revenue is there to support it. The Leno appearance was a prime example of marketing over winning. Seems the team may be buying into the hype. We shall see if it pays off. This all could be an overeaction but it is a feeling I have always had about the situation with upper management of the Hawks. I don't get it. McDonough isn't the GM and he didn't sign the goalies or any of the bad contracts. What am I missing?

    Wisdom Teeth Removed?

I got all of mine out a long while back. I was in agony for days. It was awful. Everyone is different though.
  4. Uh...I don't think you sought approval from the committee in the Relationship thread. So this is void as far as the board is concerned. And congratulations!

QUOTE (Reddy @ Mar 28, 2010 -> 11:42 AM) ugggggggggggggh totally fell off the wagon the last week and a half. ton of s*** just got thrown at me at once. fortunately that s*** culminated with me getting fired from my job so... more time to work out! ... i'm gonna get back on monday and hit it as hard as I can. I like your attitude.
  6. QUOTE (SockMe @ Mar 28, 2010 -> 02:59 AM) MB56 had help on his accomplishment. I mean he had what 7 k's? On Wood's 20k game that's all him. I'd rather throw a perfect game though. Exactly. A perfect game is a team feat with the pitcher as the leader. What makes the perfect game so impressive is the MB doesn't have great stuff. So for him to do it is very impressive. But Wood's was a more dominating performance.
  7. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 24, 2010 -> 10:28 PM) Why the hell would she be getting papers if she was the one who was rear ended? Because they are attorney mailings from plaintiffs attorneys.
  8. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Mar 24, 2010 -> 09:48 AM) Who knows what the giants were thinking when they made that trade, yes AJ was coming off his best season but wow did they overpay. They were thinking that Nathan was in his late 20's and had one decent year and they could sell high, and that Liriano was a giant injury risk (which they were right about). The trade looks worse because of what happened in SF that year.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 08:17 PM) So the wife got rearended on the way to work on last Wed by a student at the school where she teaches. Today, or six days later, she gets big old packets from two local ambulance chasers. snicker

  11. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Mar 21, 2010 -> 04:22 AM) Have you seen this story on realignment? My knee-jerk reaction to the idea of floating teams to different divisions year to year is that I hate it. Realignment Read post 20
  12. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 09:31 PM) They can't fire him for what his son says. And they would have to have undisputable proof that Ozzie is the one telling him things. For example, to cover Ozzie's butt, Oney could just throw in random wrong stuff as rumors and also mix it in with correct information. Also, JR would never fire Ozzie for bringing him that ring. If anything, he'd just be hurt by it. Managers in MLB are at-will employees. They can fire him for whatever reason they deem fit or no reason at all. I guarantee they don't need indisputable proof of anything. People get the death penalty for less then indisputable proof.
  13. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 08:54 PM) It did hit a nerve per his twitter page. "They hit me where it hurts most and I gotta stay ready for whatever comes my way, like I always have." Honestly though, firing him isn't going to keep Oney from bumping his gums. Ozzie is probably going to tell him what's going on with the team and if anything, now that Oney is not employed by the White Sox, he's going to probably put even more of their business out there. I really doubt Ozzie is dumb enough to let that happen unless he's trying to get fired.
  14. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 08:42 PM) Cowley must be segment producing for the MLB: he's constantly trying to suggest the rel'ship is fraying. what a stool. That happens here all the time.
  15. is the Score online feed down or is this a personal problem? Update: it was a personal problem
  16. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Mar 18, 2010 -> 05:08 PM) Government especially education have the payouts I assume it is a union thing. That's fairly standard in CBA's I've seen.
  17. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 18, 2010 -> 10:37 PM) Why not make it intent to injure=you miss the same number of games as the injury causes? I think the problem is who is the judge of "intent"? Sometimes its obvious, but usually it isn't. It's not like the player is going to admit it. If he leaves his feet, then it might be presumed, but what if he doesn't? And would a big name player "intend" to hurt someone if the result would be that they miss the playoffs and hurt ratings? The NHL has enough trouble enforcing the rules it has, so I only see more problems with a rule like this.
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 16, 2010 -> 04:46 PM) Why is Corey Crawford being called up? Score says Huet has the flu.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 16, 2010 -> 04:34 PM) That is actually a very interesting idea, but who is going to pay to see more KC/Washington games? Well the theory would be that if the teams actually have a shot at the playoffs, more people will come. I would imagine they would still have their fill of the Yankees and Red Sox to keep attendance up.
  20. Kinda off topic, but if the problem is competitive balance then isn't it possible to just use the NFL model of scheduling? The best teams would play more games against the best teams regardless of league. Meanwhile, the Royals would have more games against the Nationals.
  21. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 15, 2010 -> 01:27 AM) BREAKING NEWS: Brian Campbell done for the year. Broken collarbone, broken ribs, 2nd degree concussion. This really, really hurts the Hawks. That while the NBC commentators said he shouldn't have been given the game misconduct because hitting is part of the game.

As for Mauer, I expect he will remain a Twin. I'm sure if they trade him the other team will want to negotiate a contract first. If he ever did become a FA, he's exactly the kind of guy JR would open the checkbook to obtain. Those salaries are low but it was similar to what other stars in the NBA were making at that time. 23. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 07:14 PM) Is a guy who sleeps with multiple women, a whore as well? In this case, she didn't just sleep with multiple men, but she was cheating on them. And, to me, a man who does that is a d-bag.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 09:51 AM) Apparently, Lindsay Lohan's legal team feels she has a copyright on the name "Lindsay". It's not a copyright claim. In New York, there is a a privacy claim for unauthorized use of a person's name in commerce. I believe it's called prima facie tort. My reaction is that someone must have told them it was modeled after her, or they have some proof. Otherwise, use of a first name isn't enough.
