QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ May 10, 2010 -> 03:46 AM) Meh. Both Howard and Cheadle are very forgettable in the role. That being said it's a pretty fun action movie. I didn't really dig Mickey Rourke's character. I'm still trying to figure out what his beef was, and I couldn't really figure out if he was a bad guy or a good guy. And all that stuff about the new element... chincy plot device that made my eyes gloss over. I think his dad helped build the technology that led to the energy core of the Iron Man suit, but was kicked off the project for some reason which led him to be sent back to Russia and live in poverty...er something like that.
  2. QUOTE (DBAHO @ May 8, 2010 -> 01:57 AM) $2,000 isn't enough a penalty, needs to be at least triple that. They just need to create more awareness of it at the start of games on the video screen. I can honestly say that I had no idea that the fine was so high. Maybe they should tell fans that at the beginning of the game, just as they tell them they will be subject to removal from the park.
  3. Looks like the hawks are trying to get the Nucks to do something stupid but end up with Buff in the box.

QUOTE (lostfan @ May 9, 2010 -> 05:50 PM) I don't remember. My understanding from the headlines I browsed was something like Howard wanted more money and Paramount (or whoever) said no so he left. Here's the story
  5. Hawks really trying to do too much here. Too many passes and can't get penetration. Looks like game 1
  6. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 9, 2010 -> 12:04 PM) Would somebody explain to me why Ozzie left Peavy in for the 8th? He had thrown over 100 pitches through 7, and we had a 6 run lead, yet Ozzie decides to leave one of our most important assets out there for what ended up being 120 pitches in a game that was already over. I seriously wonder if Ozzie actually wants to be fired with the job he's done this season. The game itself was awesome though, great one to be at other than the weather and Peavy's stuff was wicked. Didn't they just have an extra inning game?
  7. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 7, 2010 -> 10:32 PM) Guilty mind. Basically you knew what you were doing was wrong and did it anyways. The origins of criminal law required a actus reus (guilty act) and mens rea (guilty mind), without both you were not guilty. Statutory crimes take away the "guilty mind" part. They originated with small things like parking tickets, etc. The fact I thought I was legally parked, doesnt make a difference, its just whether or not it was illegal. Statutory laws have been expanding and it makes it so situations where some one had no idea they were doing something wrong can be found guilty. Biggest problem in statutory rape cases is that you are dealing with a young victim and it is easier not to have them on the stand if not necessary. However, the Model Penal code, and I think a couple states, permits a defense of "a reasonable mistake of age."
  8. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 8, 2010 -> 12:00 AM) In this case, paying for a prostitute would be mens rea, but statutory rape would not be, correct? To clarify, paying for a prostitute is evidence of requisite mens rea for the crime of soliciting a prostitute. Statutory rape has no mens rea requirement. It is strict liability.
  9. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ May 8, 2010 -> 04:32 PM) I know absolutely nothing about clothing so my question might be obvious to many. What are good websites to buy nice looking polo shirts? I'm not looking to spend $40 for one, somewhere closer to $25 for one. Try macys.com and sort by price under $30. I've done the work for you You can also try Old Navy. They have a good selection of polos. Otherwise, shop outlets. Outlets are awesome.
  10. In case this hasn't been posted yet, it's the Canuck's reaction to Chelsea's Dagger

Also saw Iron Man 2. Be prepared to be entertained, but not impressed. I think this movie would get better reviews had the first one not been so good.
  12. Just got home to watch the Canucks s*** themselves.
  13. Surprised it hasn't been mentioned, but Peavy was on the Score a couple days ago and implied that the Sox had been tinkering with his delivery, and he basically had to regain his mechanics. B&B surmised that they may have tried to take some stress off the arm, but that just isn't the way he pitches. We will see, but he might be fine from here on out.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 7, 2010 -> 08:56 AM) IMO, Niemi's weakness has been going down too soon and over committing to the shot. He has done a very good job lately or directly rebounds away from traffic and trying to stay in the crease when going side to side. Yeah I have definitely seen that. Doesn't that mean he normally gets beat high? And wouldn't crashing the net make it more difficult to elevate?
  15. QUOTE (Brian @ May 6, 2010 -> 11:03 PM) Watching the Hawks highlights, it seems like after every goal, Loungo starts complaining to refs. What does he want them to do? He wants them to stop his own guys from throwing Hawks into his face. I am very interested to see what the Canucks do tonight because Niemi's weakness, from what I have seen, is giving up long rebounds in front of the net. Crashing the net doesn't make a lot of sense, but they seem desperate.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 5, 2010 -> 08:02 PM) Doesn't Shelby's inability to play CF limit his potential? He really has to be like Chone Figgins with lower OBP but more power to occupy LF/DH on our roster. Then again, we DH the likes of Pierre, Kotsay and Vizquel, and he probably will put up higher OPS numbers than all three of those guys at this point in their late careers. With Shelby, you're talking 15-18 homers, lots of doubles and triples sprinkled in, streaky streaky hitting, maybe 18-24 steals??? Kind of like Ray Durham (albeit lesser version of Ray-Ray playing LF instead of 2B). The question will always be K's/contact and OBP with Shelby, yes? Fair comparison? If not, who would you compare Shelby to in terms of current power/speed combo players? The fact that he's almost 25 and has had only 1 good minor league season limits his potential.
  17. QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ May 5, 2010 -> 04:54 PM) He then told reporters a couple of months later he had never said that. And if he did, it was to take some pressure off of Bartman Well he pees on himself.
  18. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ May 4, 2010 -> 06:37 PM) I will never understand why Steve Bartman rather than Alex Gonzalez has been made out to be the villain and the goat by Cubs fans. If Gonzalez makes a routine play on a double play ball the Cubs go to the World Series, I've never been convinced Alou catches that ball to begin with. He admitted that he wouldn't have caught the ball.
  19. I don't want to click on the "What would you do" thread because I don't want to see the image. Of course I am curious...but no, I'm not gonna do it.
  20. QUOTE (The Critic @ May 4, 2010 -> 11:13 AM) Taylor Swift is not the problem. Taylor Swift x 60,000+ listens is the problem. Her music isn't too unbearable overall. She's been through her Miley phase, her Jonas phase, and so on. She's currently in a Lady Gaga/Michael Jackson phase that can be a bit unpleasant to my ears, but I can deal with it. I know my parents were not real happy with my music around 1977 or so, when I discovered punk rock. I guess I didn't take the repetitive listening into account. We were into hard rock and metal. I don't think my parents liked that.
  21. QUOTE (The Critic @ May 4, 2010 -> 04:09 AM) All the high school girls in our section flipped out when that elf came out to the mound. My 10-year-old said "...oh no..." when she saw him. I love my daughter! (Don't get me wrong, she likes a lot of stuff I'm not crazy about, most notably Taylor Swift, but she does NOT have "Bieber Fever"!) I think you have it easy if Taylor Swift is the problem.
  22. Doesn't look like the Hawks are bothering to play defense. But I'm only seeing game updates right now.
  23. There's an ultimatum every year.
  24. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 3, 2010 -> 01:36 PM) He also picked us to win the World Series this year. There was really nothing about that article that was serious. He even said he wasn't allowed to pick the Yankees.
