  1. I really want the iphone 4.
  2. Good thing Hossa is ok. That would have been a mess.
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 10:24 AM) Hasn't Pronger made it a bit more difficult for him to do so? Exactly, but Buff has like 30 pounds on him. He can't let that happen. Easier said than done I guess.
  4. Hossa needs to be on the top line I think. He creates a lot more scoring chances but no one on that line can finish the play. Of course, Buff has to get in front of the damn net and park himself. He is basically everywhere but the net.
  5. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 5, 2010 -> 11:12 PM) Went to this thing called hoptacular today, it was a craft brew tasting for beers in Chicago. Had some pretty interesting beers. This one by left handed brewery called Milk Stout was pretty good. Yeah milk stouts are awesome. And Left Hand is the best I've tried. We were back in Chicago for an engagement party last weekend. My father-in-law to be is getting into beers so we grabbed a bunch and I introduced them to some new stuff. Nothing new for the thread except for the Ommegang Triple Perfection which was phenomenal. Double Simcoe, Ommegedon, Hennepin, a bad raspberry lambic, Night Stalker and some god awful Wisconsin beers were featured. The WI beers made me yak.
  6. Aren't you in the health care industry? And I don't know if the state is where you want to be. IL is having the same problems as NY and everyone at state agencies here told me not to bother. There aren't any jobs, raises are barely equal to inflation and job security isn't what it used to be. Federal is where we all want to be...and those jobs are even harder to come by. I just got my 2 month job extended for a year (thank God). The pay is fine for what I'm doing, but it is low for a lawyer and I can't imagine saving much on my salary. So I know what you are going through.
  7. No reason to panic. Series doesn't start until the home team loses. Lose tonight, however....
  8. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 4, 2010 -> 08:48 PM) s***ty clearance creates a goal. They are attacking the goal, and we are whiffing on shots getting too f***ing cute. Pucks at the goal get rebounds. Maybe we can learn that again. Hawks are getting destroyed in front of Leighton. No one can get net presence. No one is around to get rebounds.
  9. Niemi is not seeing the puck and the defense around the net is awful. The Flyers aren't doing anything special, the Hawks are just letting goals happen.
  10. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 3, 2010 -> 08:53 PM) Im pretty sure this was just made up by a reporter trying to make fits, or it was the Red Sox or an agent trying to make it look like more teams are interested in him. More likely that the report is old. Like the Sox probably inquired in the off season and it was just found out now.

    Driving Into Chicago

Thank y'all. Makes me feel better.
  12. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 26, 2010 -> 03:55 PM) My parents recently got wireless internet, so they are now using the new computer and an older one. The older one is working just fine, but the Internet Explorer/Firefox seem not to be fitting correctly on the screen. There is a scroll bar going left and right plus the normal one that goes up and down, which is sort of a pain in the ass to read anything. Does anyone know of a way to fix this? What I'm saying is that every website requires me to scroll left and right in order to see the entire thing. Have you played with the screen resolution?

    Driving Into Chicago

So I am going to be driving from Albany, NY to Palos Park on Friday. This is a 13 hour drive. We are trying to figure out when the best time to leave is. The latest we will leave is 4 am, but we will get to northwest Indiana heading into Chicago at around 4pm on the Friday of Memorial day weekend. Anyone have any idea how bad the traffic will be? Will most people be heading the other way? Should we be leaving earlier? Thanks!
  14. QUOTE (Tex @ May 25, 2010 -> 01:32 PM) that's what I am thinking. I wish I could just hook up the Flip Cam to an external hard drive. I think there are hard drives that can do that. I think you just need a hard drive that reads memory cards.
  15. QUOTE (hawksox13 @ May 25, 2010 -> 11:46 AM) I'm as big of a Frank Thomas fan as they come, but Frank's .219 batting average, .315 on base percentage, 34 games played, 19 runs scored, and 23 overall hits in 2005 had very little to do with the White Sox winning the World Series. I think he did actually hit a walk off home run against the Twins early in that season if I remember correctly, so I guess you can count him for winning 1/99 of the regular season games in 2005. uh...12 homers and 26 RBIs in 34 games. They were 24-10 in games he played in. Yeah, he was actually huge when he played.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 24, 2010 -> 01:46 AM) I also congratulate all the die-hard Hawks fans. I was a HUGE fan as a child and til the start of college; then a nothing fan. Now, yes one of those fans who only starts to pay attention when it looks like we have a good team brewing. Been watching the playoffs all the way through and I've been IMPRESSED. Go Hawks. How has Hawks' other goalie handled not being the guy the Hawks have gone to? Has anybody interviewed him? QUOTE (greg775 @ May 24, 2010 -> 03:36 PM) Agreed. Throwing stuff is bush league and habit forming. The mob mentality sucks. One person throws something and here it comes from the stands. So you haven't really followed hockey, but you are willing to tell people what is bush league for hockey fans to do?
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 24, 2010 -> 09:02 AM) Apple really needs to offer that phone through other providers. I have to figure there's more people in my market...the people who could use and benefit from a smartphone, might be willing to spend the money on one...but have no urge to be under an AT&T contract. I think it was confirmed that they have an exclusive contract until 2012 (Link). The question is whether it makes sense for Apple to pull out of contract if AT&T is content with screwing customers. But I would guess that AT&T knows Apple can't leave without incurring large damages, so it is willing to raise termination fees. If Apple doesn't like it, then AT&T will still win. Honestly, with the rise of Google in all this the iPhone could be second fiddle by 2012.
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 23, 2010 -> 08:23 PM) I have this weird feeling Hossa is going to pop in the Finals. He has been on the losing end the past two years, and he has been catching some flak for not being the elite scorer that everyone knows he is. I just feel like this might be his time to shine. And this is coming from an admitted Noob He's a +8 in the playoffs. When he is on the ice, he controls the puck. Notice that he rarely dumps it. He skates in and tries to make chances and keeps the defense on its heels. I know next to nothing about hockey skill, but I am learning that it isn't an accident that his lines have been successful. Even if he doesn't score, he singlehandedly keeps the opposition occupied without Toews and Kane. That's huge.
  19. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ May 23, 2010 -> 01:32 PM) very cool. And I have had that same stuck mash experience ona smaller scale when brewing all grain witbiers. Not fun. The style has always sounded intriguing (never had it). In character it is equal parts Belgian wit and Belgian gueuze lambic., but German in origin. Wild. I'm in Los Angeles now and have a growler of IPA in my hotel fridge from a passable brewpub here at the hotel. Sounds like your beer is better though. It's an interesting beer and I'm sure it would be better if he had more time to let the sourness develop. Of course, at $9 a growler for I can't complain too much. At worst, it's a very good wit.
  20. QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ May 23, 2010 -> 04:47 PM) Keith back in minus 4 teeth. That's balls.
  21. Kieth takes a puck to the face, then a shorty for the Sharks. I doubt Ladd and Kieth are coming back this game.
  22. About a week ago, it was announced that a local microbrewer would be serving a gose. So today I grabbed a growler of it (I have come to love my growler) and I am sipping it now. I know nothing about the style, but I know there aren't many around. This is not as tart as I expected, but the mouthfeel is nice and creamy. Similar to a white ale with a bit extra lemon zest. A light spice note is present along with a light tartness. Pretty good beer. Oh and the story of how this beer came about is chronicled on the brewer's blog.
