Did the Sox insure Jake Peavy's contract?
QUOTE (VAfan @ Jul 10, 2010 -> 01:06 PM) Does anyone know? Here's a general article on insurance. http://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/article/120793 If the Sox bought insurance, it will give them more flexibility to take on money at the deadline. It would also mean the Sox are protected if Peavy can't come back from his injury next year. I'm pretty sure they have insurance on everyone.

JR already said that the only perk LeBron asked for is that his personal trainer be hired. And JR agreed. That was according the the Score. And what kind of excuse is that for not signing anyway? He cares more about perks than success? The stupidity grows.

Cliff Lee Traded to Rangers
According to whoever the Score just quoted (Sherman I think), the deal with the Yankees is done but Lee won't pitch against the Mariners in order to avoid embarrassment.

Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
Peter Gammons said on the Score that the Sox are the front runner for Dunn over the Angels. Angels executives believe Dunn will end up with the Sox.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 09:45 PM) Bernstein was saying he kicked some of the people out of his "group" due to them telling him he needed to take the process more serious. Sounds like they kicked out anyone that didn't share with little boys club mentality.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 09:05 PM) If he goes to Miami, this whole special has been worthless. It's been out there for over a day. I'm hoping that pick was planted by a PR agency or something. On the plus side, if the decision was leaked it will prove that nothing can be kept secret and we may never have to deal with this again.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 08:34 PM) Yeah, normally teams welcome players in ADVERTISEMENTS by throwing the figures up there. It doesn't have to be figures. I don't know what it could be, but the language could just be wrong.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 08:33 PM) Nah an ad could have been, come see the hottest threesome in Miami How does contract status change that? Only way is if Wade/Bosh/Lebron all cant work Yeah I guess you are right. And in any event, any ad with Wade and Bosh probably would have been run by their people today because of their status.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 08:30 PM) that makes no sense. Yes it could make sense. The ad could have said something about the Bosh and Wade deals that wasn't going to be accurate by tomorrow morning.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 08:07 PM) So he's going to tell teams right before he goes on air. Riley is in Miami and not at the site of the decision. I'd ask for a source, but does it matter?

This is going to have a negative impact on the NBA. NY, NJ, Cleveland and Chicago are going to be pissed about the outcome. That's a lot of people who won't be at all interested in the game's biggest star. Of course, I'm no NBA guy, so business will be back to normal for me soon.

One thing to remember, KW deals youth, and Minnesota doesn't. At least prior to moving to that park.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 05:48 PM) Not so much Badger. Just tweeted that Chicago got no love either. He still doesn't know anything, nobody does. Well that would match the "source" that said Boozer claimed it was between Cleveland and NY. Still bogus.
