QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 03:09 PM) hmmm... interesting Suddenly makes sense that the Sox believe they could make the deal for someone other than Jackson. Sox probably view him as a starter, and they have closer candidates to deal: Santos, maybe Pena.
-
Stone says that Washington views Jackson as a closer.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 02:36 PM) @BNightengale - #mlb White Sox have Edwin Jackson included in current trade package for Dunn. If Sox get Dunn, then will try to land Astros' Brett Myers Myers is a cancer. He's not just a wife beater, but he's a jag to media and everyone.
-
QUOTE (IceCreamPants @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 02:06 PM) But I believe the Score reported the Dbacks said there is definitely NOT a trade involving Jackson for Dunn??? Actually, the Nats said that.
-
The Sox sent a press release to the Score about Jackson. They say they've never seen that for a guy that is just traded immediately.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:16 PM) Hudson has control issues, and has never pitched in a pennant race. Jackson's best career year was the in AL Central, and he knows most of the teams and personnel already. The only White Sox starters (prospects) to amount to anything recently have been Richard and Gio Gonzalez, and that's going back 10 years. Proven veteran >>> Rookie pitcher in the heat of his first pennant race Finally, if Cooper didn't think he could work more with Jackson than Hudson, he undoubtedly would have told KW to forget it. Apparently Coop said on the Score that Hudson has a high maintenance delivery (or something to that effect). I did not hear him say that but Mack and Spiegal mentioned it.
-
Frankly I think it says something about the Sox's feelings about Peavy next year and KW wants a high upside guy, stuff guy. Be nice if money were coming back.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:09 PM) I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Sox traded prospects never pan out. Thank you. Isn't Holmberg like 18? Does he still throw 86 mph?
-
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 11:20 AM) Cowley - Here's what I've just been told - "If [KW] pulls this off, the Sox will be considerably better by tonight.'' I'll wager it's still Dunn. The price might have dropped, as it should.
-
The Sox haven't really missed on trading pitching so if they think Jackson is an upgrade then fine. But it's an odd move to make at the deadline because he isn't an immediate upgrade over Hudson. And if another prospect is added in then why couldn't Haren have been a possibility? Very odd.

QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 06:48 PM) Ever been in your car, stuck in traffic, when suddenly, out of nowhere, you get 'the rumbles'?? You know you have about 5 mins to get on a toliet. One of the worse feelings. That doesn't usually happen to me if I'm far from home. Once I get close to home, however, it's like I entered home turf and my body senses it. Then it's a mad dash. Can't even squeeze out a flatus to relieve pressure

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:10 PM) More Buster Olney: Heard this: The White Sox are saying internally that they are currently out of the mix on Dunn That's called a controlled leak.
-
Look at the deals for Haren and Oswalt. Can someone justify paying considerably more for Dunn than what was paid in those deals? Those are top of the rotation starters. They aren't Cliff Lee, but neither is Dunn. The price is going to have to drop because nothing about the deals that have been done tells me that the price is going to rise.

I haven't lived in Chicago in a while so I can't speak of this for certain, but it seems that there are a lot of innocent victims being shot in Chicago recently. Gang violence is usually not reported on the news unless the victim was not in a gang.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 12:19 AM) Another question for AT&T people: They used to have the unlimited data plans but I've read something about them now doing 600mb and 2GB. Do you get grandfathered in with the unlimited plan or are they making everyone switch no matter what? Grandfathered

Here's a question for the AT&T subscribers. I just got my first bill from AT&T and I noticed that they billed for the previous month and next month. So we are essentially being double billed this month (6/16 - 7/15; 7/16 - 8/15) . I called and they said that's how they do it. But I want to be sure. I don't recall any other wireless carrier billing a month in advance. Is this actually how they do it?

I would guess that 90% of most people's interaction with government employees is at the DMV. The other 10% is probably law enforcement or the legal system.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 10:53 AM) Kinda like any normal job? What makes these guys any different? Because they're professional athletes they should get more benefits than we get? And if you go in knowing that what you do is physically taxing on your body, that's part of the gig. That's why you get paid millions of dollars. I have no problem with them asking for more money, but the problem is that money doesn't come from the owners, that comes from a 10 dollar hike in ticket prices that you and I pay for. And I mentioned that the average fan has to spend a good chunk of his income just to see a game. It's a general gripe I have with all sports. Sure, it's fine for me and my fiance now (though I think having to spend a couple hundred bucks for a 3-4 hours affair is a bit ridiculous), but there's no way we'll do that kind of trip with kids. I used to go to games all the time with my family. I just don't think that trend will continue given the rising costs. Who says you have the right to go to a game? Someone else will fill your seat. If want the prices to go down then stop going.

Took me a month to get title on my car last year and I also paid in full.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 19, 2010 -> 02:01 AM) Greg has gotten me amped by saying Soria/DeJesus to Sox was discussed. Was discussed on the White Sox post game show. Have you ever heard the callers on the post game show?

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 16, 2010 -> 08:30 PM) I actually really like Lake Placid. It's one of those movies that knows it's bad and has fun with it. It has a great cast, too, with Oliver Platt, Brendan Gleeson, Betty White, Bill Pullman (who I like, but feel like I should hate), and that hot deputy with the nice rack. Bill Pullman is awesome. Best president in movie history.

QUOTE (docsox24 @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 11:54 AM) Has anyone heard a stat about the farthest back a team has been but still in first place at the break? I gotta think 9.5 is pretty close to the record? Pretty sure Bernstein said it was the 1973 Cardinals. They were like 11 games back and took over first by the All Star break. I think they also went 25-5. In any event, that team finished 81-81. So...probably best not to talk about it.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 08:28 AM) Has he been better the last two weeks? Pardon me, I wasn't able to watch the last 5 games or so In the last 14 days (9 games) he hit .333/.355/.533. He has 10 hits in those games, 4 for extra-bases (1 homer and 3 doubles). So, he is, at least, having a nice stretch.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 09:07 PM) Ok so I'm on a business trip to Louisiana, in some small ass town in the middle of nowhere, and I'm on an AT&T network (I'm T-mobile, I don't get charged for roaming though) and all of a sudden like 45 mins ago it disconnects data from me and tells me I'm on an international network and if I want data I have to pay international rates. WTF? Uh no, Louisiana is in the United States. Is it, Lost? Is it really?

Maybe someone here can help me with this. There is a certain flavor in some beers, usually questionable micros, that immediately gives me a headache and makes me nauseous. And then there is a restaurant here that makes me sick whenever I get a beer on tap. I get sick immediately from only a few sips. I figure the restaurant doesn't clean their lines, but I know immediately that the beer is bad because of a certain flavor that I gues is like cardboardy or licorice. I know that flavors indicate different things but when I taste I know I have to stop. Anyone know what might cause such a fast reaction and fit that flavor profile?
