QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Sep 29, 2010 -> 11:20 PM) I'm taking a Film Culture class, and it's really allowed me to watch some great classics. Last week was Treasure of the Sierra Madre and tonight was The African Queen. Humphrey Bogart FTW. I like Bogart though he is the same person in every movie. Sierra Madre is a good movie. I don't think I've seen the African Queen. Casablanca is still his best performance, but the writing in that movie is so perfect for him that it really can't be topped.

I missed one. One that I was certain I was correct on.

Ok, so I am finally going to jump into cocktails. I plan to start with the mai tai and I have the recipe Jim posted like a year ago. The rums are Appleton 12 year old and Clement VSOP. What are the changes I can find these? Are they widely available? And I will go with orange curacao because I don't want to spend that much to start off.

This is a team that is beating itself.

And I will post in the game thread of a game I'm not watching! -

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 04:47 PM) I'm as big an AD fan as anyone but just looking at trailers and such "Running Wilde" feels like a disappointment in the making. "Raising Hope" on the other hand looks like it could be solid, I'm getting the same feel from it as I did from Modern Family last year. I'll definitely give both a chance. Early returns say both are bad.

Because of this thread I knew why we had Mexican Coke in the grocery store.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 07:30 AM) How about they just ban all reporters from the locker rooms, male and female? Let the players change and what not in peace and then interview them when they get out in the interview rooms or wherever. The players will leave without talking to anyone.

QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Sep 10, 2010 -> 05:14 PM) I'm 27. I found a gray hair in the 'stache today This is my first time. What do I do?! This is really upsetting... I have grays on the sides of my head. I really don't care. I shouldn't be going bald based on my genes and I look good with some gray... If I say so myself.

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Sep 10, 2010 -> 08:39 AM) I'd be fine with Mark Teahen off the bench...much like Kotsay was last year. But the Sox way overpaid on his extension to make him a sub/PH. However, you have to wonder if KW would recognize that failure of a signing and either trade him away for nothing or be okay with him being a sub/PH. I don't see why he would be good off the bench. He is terrible defensively and the AL doesn't really require pinch hitters (which he also isn't very good at). At least Kotsay can be adequate defensively to give PK a rest. If Teahen hit for more power then you can live with him, but he doesn't do that either.

BR says they are 32-31 in his games. That makes them 45-31 in games he doesn't play.

I am officially married. Awesome wedding in Bar Harbor, Maine.

Allagash interlude is one of the best beers I have tasted. Sour and fruity with a hint of cherry. Brewed with brett and it shows. Manages to be a Belgian strong ale and a kriekish thing all at once. It's a bit of an experience.

QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 09:48 AM) I know the Beer Bistro on Madison carried Spaten Oktoberfest last year, and am waiting to hear back if they have it this year....does anyone else know any other bars in Chicago that will or already are carrying this? Preferably on tap! I had it last year when I was on a work trip in Atlanta and fell in love...Thanks! That is an easy beer to come by in any decent beer store. If you really want it out somewhere, find an Octoberfest or harvest festival. Always good times.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 02:41 PM) I have honestly never heard anyone say that. Well you will now. And you will hate it.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 01:58 PM) I'm looking forward to Heavy Fuel Crew. That may be why they're bad, but it's flat out awful. I'll give them a touch of slack only because chemistry is obviously important in a good radio show, but stuff like "what is visually appealing to you in baseball" for a 1/2 hour and playing a recorded old joke for 3 minutes is just a sampling of the badness. It's brutal.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 01:44 PM) So then is that Heavy Fuel Crew reunion with Mac and Boers this afternoon? Yes. And Bernstein and Speigal is bad only because Spiegal doesn't let Bernstein say whatever he wants.

And can people stop saying "all the sudden"? I mean really.

I have waited for years to get my hands on a fresh brew from Captain Lawrence, but I have had no luck...until today. Suddenly the beer store went from a dusty bottle, to 3 fresh varieties. So I grabbed a Xtra Gold American Tripel. This is a very good beer. Not as sweet as a normal tripel, but with great hops notes instead. And that is what they went for. While the hazy gold color and orange peel are present, the remaining fruit notes are replaced with pine and grass. Not a hint of alcohol is present despite hitting 10%. I say this a lot about American breweries mimicking foreign styles, but this isn't traditional to the style, but fantastic nevertheless. America has to be considered a beer destination. It is remarkable how many different breweries are doing great things with traditional styles.
