  1. 500 mega is a ton of data even for normal users. If you ony had it on for 5 mins then it isn't possible to use that much. AT&T has been known to have musteriouus data charges. I would explain that you didn't use that much and it's a mistake on their end. And good the problem. I'm pretty sure I've read about this before.

Piña colada recipe is good. Did it with the vx since that's the lightest I have. Nice and simple. I plan to plow through those recipes this weekend I assume.
  3. There is no case law in Alaska involving write-ins. Which makes sense since write-ins don't normally have a chance to win. The Supreme Court of Alaska has had a few cases involving punch cards and voting machines. Most recent is Edgmon v. State, 152 P.3d 1154 (1989) which repeatedly calls for voter intent. Notice in that case, the losing party argues that the voting law requires a bright line test for improperly marked ballots because the statute states that the rules are mandatory. The court essentially ignores this argument because, if that were true, then there would be no appeal process to the courts which the legislature also provides for. In any event, I seriously doubt the courts would permit a person to win the election when, in their brains, they know the voters overwhelmingly voted against that person. edit: I actually have to rethink this statement. Here is the language: Have at it.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 10, 2010 -> 11:43 PM) I have to think Albany has an in with some of the downstate distributors. I think it's a problem of demand. I had the same problem with beer a few years ago. Even the dedicated stores had limited selection and many of the bottles were well past their best by dates. Now the bottle shops rival any major city and most restaurants carry at least a couple craft beers that aren't Sam Adams. Good wine has always been very easy to come by around here. Hard liquor though is another matter. It doesn't help that liquor and wine can't be sold in grocery stores in this state so there isn't a whole lot of competition to diversify the selection. I am sure there is some gem around here someplace but for now, I have to shop hop to pick through whatever selection they have.

I am having trouble sending the list from work, but it is complete. I have 20. I doubt more than 2 make this list (and I probably know which ones). I eliminated all one offs and locals so everything should be widely available though two are technically seasonals. I would go to a desert island with my top ten so I don't want to change it.

I am located in Upstate New York. Unfortunately, that's a different state than real New York. I honestly can't find any really good selection of liquors, but dammit, I will keep trying. Work has really been getting in the way of my drinking lately. It's quite sad.

Thanks for all the coconut recipes! I have to get more pineapple juice. Meanwhile I need to get more rum. I haven't any since my first purchase and my bank account seems unusually fat (relative to my general poorness). I will upgrade the Appleton from the vx and get more Pussers because I need the painkillers. But I want something else to try as well. I have the stores with Cruzan available so o will probably go with something decent from them. Any suggestions?

Looks like I will be doing my first list!

I'm ready for a coconut cream recipe. And I have perfected the mai tai to my taste and I can tell that pre-made orgeat is a limiting factor. It has a nice taste but anything more than half an ounce becomes almost tart. I need something smoother.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Nov 5, 2010 -> 12:34 PM) If I am sending out cover letters and resumes, what is the commonly accepted/preferred model of delivery: E-Mail or Snail Mail? Depends on the employer, but email is perfectly acceptable almost everywhere today. One thing I have been told is only send emailed documents in PDF format. Never in Word.
  11. Talk to people about network quality in your area. This is the most import thing. The phone will be useless without the network. AT&T happened to be solid here so I got an iPhone. But 3G is spotty in rural areas. Any phone you get will amaze you and you won't be able to live without it so don't fret.
  12. QUOTE (T R U @ Oct 24, 2010 -> 04:23 AM) this world series is garbage, gonna be the lowest rated in a LONG time.. Probably the lowest rates since 2005.
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 13, 2010 -> 10:15 PM) Expos won the "division Series" or whatever they called it in 1981. They beat the Phillies, and then lost to the Dodgers in the NLCS. I just had to look that up because it made no sense to me. For anyone wondering: Due to an extended player strike in the middle of the 1981 season. The season was divided into two halves with the first and second half champs facing each other in a divisional round prior to the league championship series.
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 12, 2010 -> 05:50 PM) Camp Anawanna, we hold you in our hearts.... Get it right or pay the price.
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 11, 2010 -> 02:32 PM) There is also a potential Duty to Act problem here. In many states, people like firefighters, paramedics, etc., are REQUIRED to act in aid, regardless of jurisdiction. I don't think TN has that law. In any event, my opinion is based on the policy being legal. If there is a duty to act law, then this scheme would be in contravention of the law, their actions in not providing aid would be negligence per se and the remaining analysis is moot.
  16. QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 10, 2010 -> 07:22 PM) I am still wondering if the fire department could be held liable if (it didn't they wetted down the fence line) the neighbor's house burned down because they allowed a containable fire to grow out of control. Sorry Misses O'Leary we can't respond to your barn fire, you didn't pay the fee. This is a good question, and knowing nothing in particular about the laws in that state, I can't give a certian answer, but my logic says yes, they would be liable. The question here is one of duty. Assuming the policy is entirely legal, they only owe a duty to extinguish or prevent fires to those who paid the fee. If the fire had burned down a payor's house while the firefighters were present and able to prevent it from happening, they would have breached that duty. And there would be causation because they literally did nothing. This is similar to a wild fire. Firefighters try to extinguish a fire before it can burn down homes of the people they owe a duty to. They then sue the person responsible for the wild fire if the cause is unnatural for the cost of putting that fire out (which they probably never receive but the person ends up in prison). Here, they were (arguably) within their right to permit this house to burn, but they had to prevent it from spreading. If the fire spreads to a payor's house, then they breach the duty. In fact, they should be sued for any damage done as a result of their failure to make an effort to put the fire out. In short, they should have put the fire out and made the homeowner pay.

Im totally ODing on coconut cream. I think my teeth are rotting. Meanwhile I got the orgeat and made a damn fine Mai tai. I will a proper revue when I feel I have the recipe down. But what I'm drinking now is really good.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 09:33 AM) Perhaps the best example is a much larger version of Great Britain's empire slipping from where it was 100 years ago. OTOH, we don't want to sink down to the level Japan or Germany (although after China, they're probably example #1 of who we should be studying and emulating, certainly not Japan's stagflation for 20+ years)...not with China on the rise, and India and Brazil not far behind. And the German manufacturing base as well as infrastructure/public works/housing investments over the past 15-20 years have been immense as a percentage of budgetary outlays per capita in the US during that same time period. Honestly, why don't we want to settle into a reduced role in the world? This is something that I ponder. I know there is a chest thumping aspect to it, but would it really hurt the US?
  19. How are 300M people going to engage in an intelligent discussion about what to keep and what not to keep? Should we elect representatives to meet in a common location to discuss the issues and make recommendations on our behalf? EDIT: by this I mean that the TV idea makes no sense as it would take decades for every idiot to talk. Also, how can people make intelligent decision about topics like the FDIC within 24 hours? And I know I will feel safe while the US military is disbanded for an entire year.
  20. QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 6, 2010 -> 07:37 PM) Verizon to get iPhone in 2011 WSJ has misreported this story 4 times. Their sources are very bad.

  22. I was listening on the radio during the seventh and thy didn't bother saying there was a no hitter. So when I got home I didn't watch. Idiots.
  23. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 4, 2010 -> 01:39 PM) I just don't give the Giants much any credit for last night. They looked pretty s***ty. Bears just completely shot themselves. Plus I thought Marinelli had a nice game plan and our defense looked superb. Martz was absolutely horrific though. Hub was saying that they couldn't do 3 step drops because the receivers can't be trusted. Cutler had to move Hester on many plays because he was lined up on the wrong side. He flat out did not trust that the receivers would be where they were supposed to be. Maybe someone else can put those thoughts together better, but that's what he said.
  24. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 4, 2010 -> 12:58 PM) That is f***ed up. So that fire department is paid solely by those $75 fees and no other taxpayer money? Not from the county, only the city of South Fulton. Frankly though, it makes no sense. I have seen many shared services agreements, but nothing like this. It's incredibly dangerous.
  25. The sad thing about this game is that it is everything we thought the Bears were at the beginning. Reality is falling in an avalanche.
