QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 04:58 PM) Indeed. That statement at best rings hollow, and at worst is complete bulls*** when you look at something like the Edwin Jackson move. He's been crying poor for years and keeps adding. It's obvious that he always want to be on record as having no money.

KW says: Wasn't going to take away from this club (obviously Viciedo) for a rental. Didn't believe they could sign Dunn because he claims they are strapped for cash (obviously that's questionable). And that's all.
-
KW says: Very little dialogue beyond other teams asking for the best from the Sox farm and not budging or negotiating.
-
KW says: There was a deal for Berkman done and he rejected. He even sent a message to KW apologizing and explaining the decision.
-
KW on Score right NOW

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 04:31 PM) Berkman basically said it was the opportunity to play with Pettite and go to a historic franchise like the Yankees. Sounds like he pretty much chose the Yankees over the Sox and hell, I can't blame him. Jeff Pasan said yesterday that Berkman wanted to play for the Yankees during the offseason.

QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 04:26 PM) Old School KW would of traded Beckham today. Old school KW would not have drafted Beckham.
-
Goff says they wouldn't move Viciedo. Flowers and EJax was the offer. No one wants Flowers. He's a bust.
-
And now he says no.
-
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 03:29 PM) Ken_Rosenthal #WhiteSox believe #Nats are using them to drive interest in Dunn. Nats had asked for Beckham. No discussions, to repeat, in days. #MLB He said "No discussions" Oops

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 03:26 PM) Anyone buying what Rosenthal is saying about Rizzo has not talked about a Dunn deal is "days"?? I really don't. He said there hasn't been a counteroffer. Which is sorta consistent with the fact that the price hasn't dropped.
-
QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:51 PM) No Viciedo!!!! If you want a bat Viciedo is going to be traded. The system isn't deep enough to avoid that.
-
QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:45 PM) Looking like Rizzo might have been using KW as a pawn to drive up Dunn's price to other potential suitors. Wouldn't doubt it if he always has had the intention of taking Jackson + prospects... but has just been trying to shoot for the stars ( ala Garza ). Still think he is a ****sucker ( that is cock... not tit or boobie ) The Garza stuff was out there before he threw a no hitter. So I would say that Rizzo is serious about raiding a team.

Bowden's posts have been interesting. And totally inaccurate. So far

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:40 PM) SI_JonHeyman jackson for dunn is still a possibility. but nationals want #chisox to add another player or 2 Ok.....so add another player or two who are not good players.....No Flowers, Morel, Viciedo, Mitchell, or Thompson. Yeah...that's how it works ...
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:39 PM) Then why did they keep asking for Beckham. or CQ. This is why Gammons kept saying that they don't want EJax.
-
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:30 PM) Rizzo should be the one panicking. Dunn is worthless to him for the next 2 months, unless he feels he can get better value from draft pick than he is getting offered. He should be but unless ownership tells him to move Dunn he isn't going to budge. Funny thing is, Dunn's value declines everyday because that's less time he spends on the buying team.
-
The Sox could really use a proven bat. You need experienced players coming down the stretch. I don't want to rely on Viciedo In September or October.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 01:58 PM) I'm not giving KW credit for being interesting and making things fun. You gotta get s*** done. And it's looking more and more like the only upgrade is a guy with an ERA over 5 and just overall mediocre pitcher. Ok and are you going to complain when he gives up Viciedo and takes on a big contract? Yes you will. Anyone can get things done if they are willing to break the bank. That doesn't make it smart. If you can get manny for cheaper than Dunn then do it. Otherwise it probably isn't worth it and you wait for waiver deals.
-
I'll give credit to KW for being creative. He obviously thought he could get a good deal (cheaper than Dunn) for Manny. If that doesn't happen then so be it.
-
The sox are a team that is willing to spend what it takes to win but has to know whether they can recoup costs at the gate. They have spent a lot of money at the deadline with the idea that the have a chance to win. If they go to the playoffs, the additional money for Jackson will be justified.
-
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 05:09 PM) I believe this is to reassure the players on the team nothing more will happen and to focus on the game. Why hold a conference if you're expecting another player? He could wait a day to announce Jackson and Dunn if that were the case. Jackson isn't going anywhere, I'd say. If anything we'll have a minor trade; but definitely nothing approaching Dunn. I was about to type the same. He only holds pressers to say they are done.
-
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 05:02 PM) Yankees Close To Acquiring Lance Berkman That's bad. That means the Rays will overpay for Dunn.
-
QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 05:01 PM) Anyone know how an out of towner can listen to this?? it will probably be simulcast on the Score.
-
QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 05:00 PM) Also Buster_ESPN Heard this: The Steinbrenners have given pre-approval to the acquisition of a large salary such as Lance Berkman or Adam Dunn. #trades What?! the Yankees are willing to take on more salary?! oh wait...no s***.
