Game Thread: CWS @ SEA, 5:40pm CT

That fat f*** had best not be with the team next year. -
Last night: "Uh oh"

With the exception of living sporting events they have exclusively, ESPN is dead to me. I used to watch Baseball Tonight, which was a fun game of watching the entire hour for Sox highlights only to find out that the BBTN crew didn't deem our team worthy of coverage. (It sill amazes me how infrequently the Sox made BBTN in 2005, when they were in first place for 162 games.) Now that MLB Network has launched I have no reason to watch any of ESPN's shows.

Would Joe Mauer be worth going after as a FA in 2010?
Linnwood replied to chisoxfan09's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 01:59 AM) I would be shocked if Minnesota did not offer him something along the lines of 5/$75. If he claims he needs 5/$100 or else he'll go to NY or Boston, he'll get raked over the coals by the fanbase. If Mauer ends up going somewhere else, it will be the Twins ownership that will be raked over the coals by the fanbase. Unless he gives them an amazing discount, I fail to see how it will result in anything else. -
QUOTE (rangercal @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 03:12 PM) Because Ryan Sweeny was the most overrated prospect in the White Sox organization since Jeremy Reed, and Kenny Williams knew this. I thought BA held that title?
-
QUOTE (Felix @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 01:41 PM) I didn't know the first baseman had something to do with the shortstop's range shrinking with age. Morneau is just that awesome. I have a hard time seeing how this makes the Twins better and I can see several ways this makes them worse. No complaints here!

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 12:19 PM) Enjoy that clubhouse cancer Twinkies Exactly.
-
Orlando Cabrera to the Twinkies.

This is a really silly question. Clearly the answer is: QUOTE (League @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 09:48 PM) We'd be well on our way to 162-0.

Possibly Not Safe For Work

Whatever you do, don't wear a Pierzynski jersey to the dome! Apparently Pierzynski being traded to the Giants for Nathan and Liriano, while making room for Mauer to play, is some sort of affront to their god. Last series guy behind me shot-off his mouth the whole game, and justified his childish behavior because I dared wear #12. f***ing stupid Twins fans. /rant

Interestingly, Minn. Star Tribune still favors us

So, what you are saying is: the team that wins more games will win the division? -
MARK BUEHRLE PITCHES THE 18TH PERFECT GAME IN HISTORY
Linnwood replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 04:24 PM) Anyone else think JOhn Buehrle looks like an older Don Cooper? LOL, yeah before I read the text on the screen I thought they had Coop on the phone! -

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 04:01 PM) Cooper was the home plate umpire for Buehrle's no hitter, and the home plate umpire for his perfect game. Creepy. Really? Odd. -
MARK BUEHRLE PITCHES THE 18TH PERFECT GAME IN HISTORY

Only thing separating Buehrle from being the only pitcher in MLB history with two perfect games is a walk of Sammy Sosa. -
QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 03:40 PM) I'm not trying to open a can of worms, but I find it REALLY funny; if Wise had dropped that ball EVERYONE on this site would have been calling for his head and Ozzie's and demanding to being BA back, lol. Yeah. Either Wise is a the hero or the goat. No gray area in between. Lucky for him, tonight he is the hero.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 03:34 PM) I can't believe he made this catch the same day my authentic Wise jersey got delivered!?!
-
A cherry on top!
-
I am lucky enough to have been home to watch the game on TV, by my girlfriend had to watch via GameDay on MLB.com. She texted me say that the perfect game had been broken up, because they had marked that as a home run. ROBBED!
-
I will never talk s*** about Wise ever again.

Chris Getz is on twitter (https://twitter.com/ChrisGetz) but hasn't updated since May 3rd.

QUOTE (elgonzo4sox @ Jul 13, 2009 -> 03:16 PM) Although once the Twins move outdoors and have to hit the ball hard to get on base, they are going to become the KC Royals North. This.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Jul 13, 2009 -> 12:02 AM) The people weren't bad or rude or anything, though. I had this lispy guy attempting to talk trash behind me the entire game. (He was quite infuriated by my Pierzynski jersey for some reason) But the genius was telling other people that Beckham wasn't very good because the Twins traded him to the Sox! I now have to live up here among these people and it is damn near as bad as Cubs fans. They don't know jack about their own team, let alone the Sox, but they sure like to run their mouths.

QUOTE (sox405 @ Jul 13, 2009 -> 12:29 AM) STEVE STONE SAID SATURDAY ON THE BROADCAST THAT TARGET FIELD IS GOING TO BE A HOME RUN HITTING PARK, WHICH IS NICE TO HEAR THAT WE ARE A HOME RUN TEAM. I DONT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE METRODOME THE SOX JUST PLAY BETTER ON GRASS PLAIN AND SIMPLE. JI JIM THOME?
